前言:2013年11月1日38天的川藏之旅终于结束...当旅程结束的时候我收拾行囊独自行走谁会在远方等着我依然是那些山那些事那些人用一转身离开,用一辈子去忘记但有一种心情,永远在路上…人在旅途,总会有许多的话想对自己说,总觉得人活在世上,必定要经历很多,承受很多,对于人生经历,不是沧桑,是沉淀。承受,不是苦难,是历练。。。人在旅途,总会有许多错过,身不由己,总有许多遇见,念念不忘。一些梦想,可能会换来一身的疲惫;一抹牵挂,让它淡然随絮,未必不是一种思恋。。。当我拿起相机拍下那一幅幅的精美的画面时,也记录下了那一刻的心境那一刻的豪情!在路上,感悟旅途,感悟生命,品味一种属于自己的人生。。。旅行的过程其实就是一段人生的浓缩,人生其实就是一段漫长的旅行....序:一直一来就有一个梦,梦想自己在有激情有能力有想法的岁月里尽走进藏的7条路线,尽赏川藏大美的山山水水,梦似乎也还在延续和实践中,不知不觉在这几年中已走了新藏线,青藏线,317,318,滇藏线,丙察察线。。。川西洛克线也在我明年的计划中,不料一则消息改变了我原有的计划和预想,于是就有了本次意外的大美行程。。。今年6月的新疆阿勒泰空中花园归来后就着手准备10月去南疆赏拍胡杨的行程,无意中在网上看到2013年9月16日稻城亚丁机场就将开通的报道,顿时恍惚起来,眼前已仿佛看到我那心中的三神山人头传动,满地垃圾的幻象。。。无法再想像!霎那间就暂时去除了10月去新疆的想法,三神山已在我眼前逐渐清晰真实起来,不能再等到明年了!电话朋友公子后开始着手本次行程。。。由于本次行程时间较长,跨度较大,本行程将分做三个部分呈现第一部分:川西徒步穿越洛克线,寻找失去的香巴拉更新一:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-15-1.html更新二:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-25-1.html更新三:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-38-1.html更新四:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-43-1.html更新五:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-54-1.html更新六:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-59-1.html更新七:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-63-1.html第二部分:我在金秋的318,朝叩神山南迦巴瓦更新一:https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-70-1.html更新二https//bbs.8264.com/thread-2022294-79-1.html第三部分:魂系山南,追寻自己的前世今生大美行程掠影:木里长海子徒步穿越洛克线三神山: 徒步穿越洛克线:蛇湖乱石飞云牛背山牛背山木格措之秋南迦巴瓦:南迦巴瓦:巴郎雪山四姑娘山双桥沟八美塔公路上风光塔公新都桥姐妹措东达山上米堆秋意米林路上拉姆拉错山南-藏王庙山南-雍布拉康山南-桑耶寺雅鲁藏布江敏竹林寺山南-加查路上的风景羊卓雍错的雪拉萨随拍 第一部分:川西徒步穿越洛克线,寻找失去的香巴拉“在整个世界里,有什么地方还能有如此的景色等待着摄影者和探险者。。。”——约瑟夫.洛克1928.8《香巴拉,世外桃源之地》这是洛克于1928.8月穿越木里-亚丁-贡嘎岭之后写下的激动开篇,他的此次探险之旅也为后来者造就了一条神秘艰辛,景致绝美的世界级穿越徒步线路,并在此后的许多年间引领着无数的探险者去追寻那最后的那一片净土,最后的香格里拉。。。背景简介:稻城亚丁位于四川甘孜藏族自治州南部,地处著名的青藏高原东部,横断山脉中段,东南与凉山州木里县接壤,西邻乡城县并与云南省中甸县毗邻,北连理塘县,面积7323平方公里。其海拔为3750米。亚丁藏语意为“向阳之地”,又名念青贡嘎日松贡布,即“圣地”之意。方圆千余平方公里,主体部分是三座完全隔开,但相距不远,呈“品”字形排列的雪峰。北峰仙乃日6032米,南峰央迈勇5958米,东峰夏诺多吉5958米。这三座雪山佛名三怙主雪山,在世界佛教二十四圣地中排名第十一位,“属众生供奉朝神积德之圣地”。 三神山——仙乃日意为“观世音菩萨”、央迈勇意为“文殊菩萨”夏诺多吉意为“金刚手菩萨”,是守护亚丁藏民的守护神山,被评为中国最美十大名山之一2013.10月我们的川西木里洛克线徒步穿越计划行程:D19月28日成都集合宿18:49成都——次日0502西昌N854/N855,历时10小时30分交通:火车宿:火车备选:火车T8865特快,21:08成都——次日07:06西昌,历时9小时58分D29月29日 700/720/740/820西昌——5:00/6:00木里(海拨3100米)交通:汽车住宿:木里D39月30日 7:00木里(海拨3100米)——水洛乡嘟噜村(海拨2700米)213公里交通;汽车住宿:嘟噜村老书记家 D410月1日 8:00嘟噜村——满措牛场(4000M)徒步第1天交通:徒步7小时住宿:露营 D510月2日 8:00满措(4000M)—4-5小时—-藏别(4200M呷日牛场)---2-3小时-万花池牛场全天共6-7小时徒步第2天交通:徒步7小时住宿:露营(呷日牛场或万花池牛场) D610月3日万花池牛场 ——曲纽阿措姆(新果牛场)(4200M)8H 徒步第3天交通:徒步8小时住宿:露营D710月4日曲纽阿措姆(新果牛场)(4200M)—上帝的后花园—呷独牛场(4400M)8H徒步第4天交通:徒步8小时住宿:露营 D810月5日呷独牛场(4400M)——洛绒牛场(4200M)——冲古寺——亚丁村 8小时 徒步第5天交通:徒步8小时住宿:隆龙坝 D910月6日冲古寺—0.5H-珍珠海—4H-卡斯牛棚—4H地狱谷—卡斯村—车行3H-稻城 下坡8小时 徒步第6天交通:徒步住宿:稻城 D1010月7日稻城——康定稻城——20KM桑堆——130KM理塘——146KM雅江——70KM新都桥——45KM折多山垭口——30KM康定交通:汽车住宿:康定D1110月8日康定——成都(各回各家)交通:汽车+飞机康定——70KM泸定——40KM二郎山隧道——110KM雅安——成都机场PS:实际行程略有出入,卡斯地狱谷未走,其他基本按行程饯行本次徒步穿越实际行程图(原创者驴友009):川西地区交通示意图:稻城亚丁景区示意图: 2013.9.26本次木里亚丁穿越之旅总共10人,按照事先的计划,我和朋友公子还有队友巫师,秀秀先行到达成都,提前一天到木里打前站,采购物资,做全队的出发前准备工作9.26号下午3点半,在飞机晚点一个多小时后在成都双流机场终于和公子汇合,住于成都48号青旅,晚上和成都的驴友腐败,第二天也是在和成都我的另外一个户外群的朋友们腐败中先后汇合了队友巫师和秀秀,晚上按照计划火车赶往西昌,次日凌晨5点多到达西昌站西昌-木里只有长途汽车,经过9个多小时的颠簸后我们终于到达木里,一个山中的小城,比预想中的繁华些,入住木里大酒店,价格100元每间,条件还不错第二天也就是9.28号,上午去了木里一个尚未开发的高山草甸长海子游玩,景致非常美!下午采购物资,四点左右剩余6人赶到,大部队终于会师。29号清晨坐着史上最牛叉的带着机械增压装置的小中巴驶向本次穿越的出发地-木里县水洛乡嘟噜村老书记家。。。10个多小时的折腾后我们终于颠到了水洛乡,一个只有一条100米长泥巴路的乡镇,然后在渐渐黑去的夜里转乘五星级座驾还是敞篷的-------拖拉机再哒哒的颠簸一个半小时后到了嘟噜村老书记家天黑透,人已疲,肚已饿。。。住的都被另外一群后来和偶们一直相伴的驴队占了,偶们匆匆吃过就露营于书记家的大厅地板上,相比后面的日子除了吵点点也还不错,嘿嘿PS由于手机的极度烂用,直接导致了从成都-西昌-木里-水洛乡沿途的相片记忆短路和缺失,这个是坚决要吐槽和检讨的,都是这个该死的微信微博惹得祸。。。还好到了木里长海这个美致的地方终于还记得偶有个单反机器,耶!宁静而致远。。。相伴。。。长海子。。。([]

回来已经整整5个多月了,依然是一成不变的生活,日出而作,日落而息!曾经的年少轻狂一去不复返......2012年5月5日从上海青浦出发,历时49天到达拉萨,这一路有风,有雨,有冷,有暖,有坚持,也有放弃!豁然觉得无从落笔来描述这段日子的点点滴滴,妻子鼓励我还是写下来吧,若干年后也算让自己有那么点回忆,故就有了以下流水账式的文字和图片 对我来说,旅行的意义是寻找和丰富生命的体验,是脚下的路,更是心中的路!目的地本身并不重要,重要的是它能否触发内心的某种感受,旅行也是一种探险,但真正的探险是人生! 长距离骑行对于我这个菜鸟来说也是第一次的尝试,之前有过徒步穿越的经历,不过大多是跟着户外俱乐部走,走的多了自然开始关注雪域高原,被众多色驴的照片搞得无法自拔,呵呵,一直没有时间成行,深度游是需要时间配合的,2011年开始我总算拥有了属于自己支配的时间,所以开始策划这次行程,骑车去西藏?ok,就这么决定了!我开始对这次行程进行针对性的训练,每周三次的慢跑8公里隔天夜骑淀山湖大道,来回23公里 车子是12年的春节购买的,坚持每周3次的慢跑训练,其中膝盖的养护非常关键,长跑建议带好护膝!青浦珠溪路,边上是稻田,空气中弥满着大粪的味道,不过感觉很好,是不是有点bt,这是手机拍摄的照片,大家随便看吧 骑行训练总里程639公里,车子是一月底买的,算下来强度不大,码表今天要清0了,心情还是没有一丝兴奋,静静的等待出发 5月5日 天气晴好 青浦--南浔骑行93公里早上7点准时出发 路过淀山湖 11点左右从金泽附近出上海了,第一次到金泽 上午在东方绿舟和此次骑行的骑友汇合,有来自广东,无锡,上海,江西的一共8人,原先的计划是4人,后来不知怎么又增加了几人,他们都是从上海人民广场的318国道起点骑过来的,我就不凑热闹了。队伍超乎想象的庞大,不过之后几天就分手了,骑友广东的包子和江西的牛逼 行百里者半九十 下午4.30到达南浔古镇,第一天的骑行还处于兴奋中,没有感觉到特别疲劳。晚上伙食自行解决,第一天的行程大家都还在适应中,我找了个面馆来碗面条 夜游古镇,坑唉,白天居然要收费,不过晚上可以逃票。伟大的祖国几乎找不到免费的景点今日骑行93公里,青浦至南浔的路况较好,基本都是柏油马路,不过屁股摩擦的有点小疼,主要还是没有长距离骑行的经验 5月6日南浔--郎溪十字镇骑行里程 157公里昨夜睡的不太好,出门在外最怕的就是这个,早上6点准时出发前往318国道,6.30吃早饭,2碗粥6个包子 八点左右进入湖州城区,正是周末,车来车往 前往宣城 中午在叫环桥的小镇吃午饭,四人四菜四十元,上午骑了75公里,天气较热,感觉体力还行,暗自庆幸之前的体能准备还算有点效果,下午还要赶80多公里才能到今天的目的地十字镇 二点在泗安镇停留休息一会,天气太热,马上进入安徽界了 开始进入安徽段国道,国道在大修路况不好,大约有十公里 ,这段路貌似修了几年了还是如此,国内很多路段都是如此,记得父母家门口的马路在我和老婆谈恋爱的时候就开始修了,现在女儿都会打酱油了依然没修好,这个也是特色吧,走小路继续前往十字镇。 下午四点半赶到广德,这里大家有点分歧,体能状况在这里出现差异,有些人不愿走了有人坚持继续上路,最终大家分为两批,一部分滞留广德,其余人继续赶往十字镇,我感觉体能还行继续上路吧! 傍晚6点,夕阳下的国道安逸宁静 7点不到终于赶到十字镇,今日骑行157公里,路况除了10公里搓板路,其余都较好,住宿费用一人30元,晚上腐败一下! 5月7日十字镇---青阳县骑行里程148公里早上五点四十离开小镇,路上行人不多,一大早出发是同行骑友猴子的建议,中午太晒可以考虑休息1小时,所以今天一大早就出发了,后来发现这不是个好主意 出发后一小时在离宣城还有20公里的小镇早饭,非常有嚼劲的安徽手擀面8元,很好吃! 整数留记号,路碑上各地骑友的涂鸦 中午在南陵午饭,骑友老吴要走了,他儿子小吴要骑行去拉萨,老吴不放心所以从无锡陪儿子一起骑了两天,工作实在放不下只能相约拉萨再见。左一老吴,左二(昨天路上拣到的宁波骑友36)左三是小吴 。我和36都是70后,小吴90后,最后我们3人组一路到的拉萨 进入安徽段开始,逐步开始出现大起伏路,中午实际休整了1个半小时,下午出发的时候明显感觉乏力,个人觉得长距离骑行最好还是少休息多赶路,但是可以放慢时速,控制在22码内最合适,这样会比较节省体力,下午遇到了出行的第一场雨,没怎么拍照片。6点赶到青阳县。 5月8日 青阳县---池州市 骑行里程 45公里昨夜下了一夜的雨,担心是否能按时出发,上午8点雨总算停了,昨晚的住宿点,30元一人。这里靠近九华山了,寺庙的气息开始浓烈。 中午赶到安徽池州市,4天来进入的最大的城市,很繁华 同行骑友猴子连续拉肚子一天四次,吃药无效后绝定去医院挂水,今天在池州休整半天,这个休整很及时,对于我这个平时没有经历过大强度骑行的人来说大腿肌肉早已酸胀不堪,每天扶车把时间过长导致无名指和小指僵硬 医院里竟然有全球通贵宾室,用了全球通,看病也先通,我朝果然威武! 全国各地都在大搞城建,今日下午休整,明天开始进入岳西山脉([]
斯里兰卡是印度半岛南端印度洋中的一个岛国,北临孟加拉湾,西濒阿拉伯海,为印度洋东西方海上交通必经之地面积65610平方公里。人口1580万(1985)。僧伽罗人占72%,泰米尔人占20.5%,摩尔人占 6.7%,柏格人和马来人占 0.8%。僧伽罗语为官方语言,泰米尔语为民族语言,社会上层通用英语。居民67.3%信奉佛教,17.6%信奉印度教,7.9%信奉基督教,7.1%信奉伊斯兰教。首都科伦坡。中国古书称之为师子国僧伽罗国、僧诃罗国等。僧伽罗系梵语 Simhala一词的音译,意为狮子。古代阿拉伯航海家称其为“宝岛.锡兰”目前“锡兰”一称仍通用。如对斯里兰卡有兴趣的朋友,有想到斯里兰卡自助游的兴趣(附带说一句,斯里兰卡和中国一向友好,是最适合中国人去自助游的国家之一);可跟贴就你所想详细了解和有疑问的地方提出,我会尽量详细就我所知解答。下文预告;本人独自在印度自助流浪历时23天,从印度最东面的加尔各答横穿到印度最西面的阿姆利则,沿途所见所闻精彩粉呈。近期将整理出来以飨各位朋友。斯里兰卡有两千多年文字记载的历史。来自南亚次大陆北部的雅利安移民约在公元前 6世纪来到兰卡岛,先在沿海地区落脚,然后沿河流向内地迁移,建立若干沿河村落并种植水稻。移民中最强大的是僧伽罗人。这一名称后来成了所有移民的共同名称。雅利安移民的政治制度是婆罗门式的。在南印度种姓制度影响下,逐渐形成斯里兰卡独特的种姓制度,构成了僧伽罗村社制度的基础。 2500年前,来自北印度的雅利安人移民至锡兰岛建立了僧伽罗王朝。前247年,印度孔雀王朝的阿育王派其子来岛弘扬佛教,受到当地国王的欢迎,从此僧伽罗人摈弃婆罗门教而改信佛教。公元前2世纪前后,南印度的泰米尔人也开始迁徙并定居锡兰岛。从公元5世纪至16世纪,岛内僧伽罗王国和泰米尔王国之间征战不断。16世纪初先后被葡萄牙(1505—1658)和荷兰(1658—1796)统治。 18世纪末,斯里兰卡成为英国殖民地,并在二战中成为盟军在南亚对抗日军入侵的海军基地。当时的锡兰总督兼三军总司令是以善于调和种族关系而著称的郝德杰(任锡兰总督时间为1937.10.16—1944.9.19)。1948年2月4日获得独立,定国名锡兰。1972年5月22日改称斯里兰卡共和国。1978年8月16日改国名为斯里兰卡民主社会主义共和国。斯里兰卡自助游,分别为:文化之旅、海滨之旅、高山之旅和生态之旅。一、文化之旅。在斯里兰卡这个小小岛屿国家中,分布着与埃及一样多的,共6处世界遗产,可谓是个奇迹。充分展示了斯里兰卡有文字记载的2000多年的文明史。由皇城康提、圣城阿努拉德普勒、古城波隆纳鲁沃这3个城市构成的三角区,被称为“文化金三角”。在这个三角区内,汇聚了多达5处该国的世界文化遗产。这里有巨大的古建筑群;有2500多年前的宫殿和石刻;有古都的遗址、花岗岩的雕像、高耸入云的巨型舍利塔。参观、体验这些文化遗产,可令人充满惊奇和振奋,焕发人的灵感,让人感受到这是一次文化之旅、精神之旅。1、“文化金三角”世界遗产分布情况。(1)康提(Kandy)一处:佛牙寺(Temple of Tooth Relics)。(2)丹布勒(Dumbulla)二处:丹布勒金庙石窟(The Golden Temple and Rock Temple of Dambulla)、锡吉里耶狮子岩(Sigiriya the Lion Rock)。(3)阿努拉德普勒(Anuradhapura)一处:由菩提树、千柱寺,及数个超巨型舍利塔组成。(4)波隆纳鲁沃(Polonnaruwa)一处:嘎里亚那(Galvihara)古城遗址。(5)南海之滨的世界文化遗产。斯里兰卡全国共6处世界文化遗产中,有5处在“文化金三角”,另一处在南海之滨的加勒(Galle)。是17世纪建造的,位于一座岛礁上的荷兰城堡。 二、海滨之旅。斯里兰卡这个海岛拥有1340公里长的海岸线,以及数百个沙滩。这些沙滩中,已经开发出来,供游人休闲的多达几十个。其数量之多,质量之好,环境之美,都是绝无仅有的。这是大自然对斯里兰卡人民的慷慨赐予。斯里兰卡的海滨度假胜地,集中在这个海岛的西南部海岸。在不到200公里长的距离中,大大小小已经开发出的海滩就有几十个。其中几个较大的海滩各具特色、名声在外。 1、几个值得一去的主要海滩。(1)尼甘布(Negombo)距科伦坡37公里,距国际机场仅有6公里。因其位置优势,这里常年吸引了大量刚刚到达,或者准备离开斯里兰卡的各国游客。这里也是首都科伦坡民众节假日最好的休闲之地。(2)卡卢特勒(Kalutara)距科伦坡42公里。这里除了拥有迷人的海滩和众多的五星级酒店外,还有一座庄严的3层佛教寺庙,以及里面的那座世界独一无二的空心佛塔。(3)本托塔(Bentota)距科伦坡62公里。这里有宽广如画的海滩;有大型海滨度假村和星级饭店;有独特的古董店;有斯里兰卡驰名建筑师巴瓦兄弟花园。在本托塔河上,游人还可乘船在内河游览和进行各种水上运动。(4)希克杜沃(Hikkaduwa)距科伦坡98公里。这里是全岛最有名的海滩之一。希克杜沃以潜水运动和珊瑚礁闻名。同样出名的还有冲浪和丰富多彩的夜生活。海边既有很多顶级海景酒店,附近也有背包客能接受的舒适客栈。(5)乌纳瓦吐纳(Unawatuna)距科伦坡116公里;距世界文化遗产,加勒的荷兰古城堡仅4公里。乌纳瓦吐纳号称世界12大顶级海滩之一。这里有奇妙的潜水区域;有像沙丁鱼罐头一样挤在一起的,让游人放松的沙滩;有丰富的夜生活;有许多性价比不高,但却符合市场经济规律,比三亚划算得多的酒店和度假村。(6)韦利格默(Weligama)距科伦坡143公里。这里风景迷人,绵延10多公里的海岸线上,全是大大小小的沙滩。海面上有端坐在木杆上垂钓的渔民和游弋的双体船;海岸边有名气很大,但规模很小的金枪鱼市场。(7)美蕊沙(Mirissa)距科伦坡155公里。这里的漂亮海湾,散发着原始、迷人的气息。游人们评价说:这里是斯里兰卡南部最美的海滩。在美蕊沙,除了冲浪、潜水、休闲外,最富特色,最吸引人的就是,在当年的11月至次年的5月,乘船出海看鲸鱼、海豚和飞鱼。(8)马特勒(Matara)距科伦坡163公里,公交大巴车程约5小时。这里是海岛南部顶端的一座大型海滨城市。在城边海岸的突出沙滩上,可以看到清晨太阳从海中冉冉升起,傍晚又从海中缓缓落下的罕见自然景观。这里还是游人去附近几个著名海滩远足的,最佳的中转站和大本营。(9)坦加勒(Tangalle)距科伦坡195公里。这里有世所罕见,几乎渺无人烟,拥有宽阔漂亮沙滩,长达10多公里,能够一览无遗的巨型、正圆形弧形海岸线。眼前不时跃出水面的银鱼,和那不断掠过水面的上百只海鸥,伴随着生生不息的海浪,引人遐想,令人忘我。(10)瑞卡瓦(Rekawa)距科伦坡205公里。在这里,在相应季节的夜晚满月时,可以看到从水下爬到沙滩上,自然繁殖的海龟,还可以与它们亲密接触。这就是高勒到科伦坡的海边火车。在就是传说的海边渔夫三、高山之旅。斯里兰卡有多样的地形地貌,以及由此带来多样化的气候和丰富多彩的自然景观。斯里兰卡南部山区有30多座上千米高的山峰。有这个海岛最高的,海拔2555米的皮杜鲁塔拉格勒山(Mount Pidurutalagala)。在山区的腹心地带,最有名,最受游客青睐的地方是努瓦勒埃利耶(Nuwara Eliya)。这里是斯里兰卡海拔最高的村镇,是美誉度最高的山区旅游胜地,有“小英格兰”之称。村镇周围有高尔夫球场和赛马场,附近有可供垂钓鳟鱼的湖泊、河流。夜晚在零度的气温下,人们穿冬衣戴皮帽,依偎在壁炉边烤火的情景,在这个只有夏天,没有春天、秋天,更没有冬天的热带岛屿上,构成一幅奇特的,引人入胜的自然、人文景观。距努瓦勒埃利耶不太远的南部地区,有景色优美,海拔超过2000米的山区高原霍顿平原(Horton Plains)。霍顿平原上最吸引人的景点是悬崖落差达1000多米,被人们描述得具有极大想象空间的:“世界的尽头(World’s End)”。科伦坡和康提都有公交车驶往努瓦勒埃利耶。行驶时间分别为3.5小时和2小时。距努瓦勒埃利耶同样不太远的东南部地区,有山区的另一个著名景点埃拉(Ella)。乘火车从努瓦勒埃利耶到埃拉,这条线路是世界上最美的火车线路之一。火车在海拔2000多米高的大片原始森林间,迎着茶园,穿过松涛,沿着陡峭的峡谷蜿蜒而行。真个是景在心中,人在画中。四、生态之旅。斯里兰卡除了无所不在,令人神往的海洋景观外,岛上森林密布、河流纵横,无数湖泊镶嵌其间。全岛有12个国家公园,52个自然保护区,占国土面积的12%。其中最著名的是位于海岛南部,被评为世界自然遗产的辛哈拉加森林保护区(Sinharaja Forest Reserve)。最吸引游人的是位于东南沿海的,巨型的自然保护区 —— 雅拉国家公园(Kumana National Park)。在康提附近,有几十头大象的人工保护区品纳维勒大象孤儿院;在狮子岩附近的米内日亚国家公园湖边,最多时可一次出现几十头野生大象;在波隆纳鲁沃的湖边,夕阳西下时,可一次见到数百只鸽子那么大的巨型蝙蝠;湖面上整天都能见到时而浮在水面,时而排队飞行的成千上万只水鸟;在南部海边瑞卡瓦的沙滩上,能在明月下见到上岸繁殖的海龟;在美蕊沙近海,可看到鲸鱼、海豚和飞鱼;........([]
本贴所有图文,均属原创。谢绝一切形式的转载。如有需要,请站短。本次出行线路:上海-成都-稻城-中甸-丽江-六库-贡山-匹河-老姆登-六库-大理-昆明-上海。10月12号从家里出发,11月2号凌晨到家,总计耗时21天。本次出行同伴:花花。5月刚一起走了新藏线。好人,好姑娘,好伴。并不是一趟很愉快的旅行,在四川境内时,天气太糟糕,在亚丁的两天雨雪交加,下得人眼睛都睁不开。三座神山无一得见全部真容,统统昙花一现即隐在云雾中。21天的全部费用是4160元。性价比偏低(我去年在川青藏甘也是晃了21天,费用是3000不到)。稻城中甸包括丽江这些地方,早已经不是传说中的香格里拉,处处悬着大刀,有些明,有些暗,一不小心,就中招了。中国景点的门票之高,已是全世界之最。不知道这样发展下去,再过几年,我辈还去得起国内的什么地方。在成都聚会时,就听得破猪和南猪不停地说某某景点门票是多少,某某地方又圈起来收钱了……而以前,都几乎是极低或者根本免费的。破猪说:“太贵了,真是去不起啊!”这趟走完之后,深以为然。丽江已不是印象里的丽江,古城已扩大了三四倍,喧嚣闹腾,日夜笙歌,象一个踏进红尘的村野少女,迅速变得世故艳丽媚俗,连一点点矜持都没有了,只剩下急不可耐。好在大理却还是那时的大理。本次出行运气不好,号称从不掉东西的我,丢了两样东西,一把瑞士军dao,一把伞,都是跟随我多年的好伙伴,尤其是前者,心疼了我很长时间。后来到了大理,偶遇一个摔锅,送了我一把伞。可惜我的军dao,落在了丽江到六库的大巴上,再也回不来了,不知道它如今的主人是谁?稻城,去往傍河的路边。亚丁,珍珠海边。丽江,街头。去秋那桶,同行的藏族MM。丙中洛全景图。在老姆登俯瞰怒江。走完新藏线回来,到处对人说,这下彻底对高原审美疲劳了。可是还没过一个月,一听到和高原有关的歌,心就又开始痒痒。关于国庆长假如何过,很是纠结彷徨了一阵子,先是南猪叫我和他们一起穿越贡嘎,我怕一上去就是大强度运动,肯定放倒,拖累大家,不太敢答应他。南猪拍胸脯保证给我搞到高原安。我又想着即使弄到了药,等穿越完也才10月上旬,稻城的秋色肯定还不够浓艳……胡思乱想了好几天,终于决定,长假还是宅在家里,等完了再出动,也省得处处跟人挤。出行要考虑综合因素,尽量提高性价比,所以我定的是上海-绵阳的票,出发那天上网一查,有免费大巴直接送到成都,赶紧预定了一个位置。之前我还在头痛12号晚上在绵阳的住宿该如何安排呢。行李尽量精简,厚衣服就带一件羽绒,抓绒已经整理出来,看着满当当的包,又给我扔回柜子里去了。所有药品除了淘宝买的高原安(淘宝真是好地方,以后不用求爹爹告奶奶找人弄高原安了,嘿嘿)和阿莫西林(额,俺扁桃体容易发炎,多年的老毛病了),其他一概不带。5月走新藏时,我带了大瓶的善存,后来回家时,给我扔在乌鲁木齐的酒店里了。这次啥都不带,爱咋咋地吧。火车站坐一号线,到人民广场换二号线,虹桥二号航站楼出来,坐地面摆渡车到一号航站楼,换票,过安检……一路马不停蹄。老天真开眼,十次倒有九次误的春秋,今天居然准时到分钟,晚上9点40分到达绵阳,出口处看到举着免费大巴牌子的人等在那里,再一看,俺的大名,排在预定大巴第一位。两小时到成都人民公园,打个的直奔据点武侯祠,入住梦之旅青旅,和先到一天的花花顺利会合。坐在床上一看,时间是凌晨十二点十分。梦之旅6人间下铺40/人,上铺是35/人。我住了下铺。前台承认他们又涨价了,这让我很不爽。下次我不住他家了,我去隔壁的九龙鼎。虹桥瞎捏一张。早上起来,和花花先到新南门买好明天去稻城的票。车是上午十点发,在康定住一晚,第二天傍晚到稻城。成都已经没有新意,无非锦里,宽窄巷子。乱逛了一会,回旅馆睡觉。晚上南猪请吃饭。晚饭成员如下:南猪,破猪,米猪,米家油瓶,豆猪,花猪。吃完饭又去宽巷子喝茶。下了车,我一眼看到路边有卖花的,喊了一声:“黄桷兰!”南猪立马掏钱,给俺和花花一人买了一串。俺不由得想,真是好银啊,哪个姑娘要是娶到南猪,算是有福了。话说,这两串花,俺的那串,第一天晚上挂在床头的横栏上,香了一整晚,第二天到康定前,给俺留在了路边一棵开满花的树上。花花那串,一直挂在她相机包上,直到干了,锈了,花瓣掉光了,剩下几片叶子,仍旧顽强地跟随她的脚步晃荡着。PS:破猪=浦树;南猪=南迦巴瓦的雪。下面胡乱贴点锦里的照片。大家胡乱看看。 囧里格囧,这个角度,去年也拍过一张的,一模一样……猜猜他是谁?原来是刘关张。话说,俺更喜欢张飞,活得恣意,实在。喝酒吃肉,打架骂人,想干吗就干吗。多爽啊。好可爱的孔明哈哈~张飞今天不在家……一条极窄的小巷子。俩胖子迎面肯定得互相侧身让一下,要不然谁都过不去。很可爱的草编小熊,和我的小熊有一拼~~N多的小吃……对了,叶儿粑很好吃。夜色锦里。梦之旅一直是驴们的根据地,这两年生意越来越好,于是就地坐大,价格也越来越贵了。我很不爽。下次不会再住他家。从成都到康定,已经走过好几次了,简直半点新意也没有。上车我就大睡。傍晚6点左右到康定,随便在车站对面找了家客栈住下,还算干净,有热水洗澡,20/人。然后去城里晃一圈,找地方吃饭,回去睡觉。不幸我们的房间下面,正好是旅馆的厨房间,于是只要下面锅铲声一响,楼上就烟熏火燎,把我和花花整成了烤猪。我和花花的座位号是1、2号。最前面还有一个单人座,是备用的。车的上座率只有70%的样子,我眼看没人坐,眼明腿快占了过来,花花一人坐了我们的1、2号,大家都宽敞舒服。嘿嘿。拍照片的话,视线还凑合,不过总是避不开车头的倒后镜。路边的花。俺是花痴,看到花儿,总是没有免疫力~~甘孜州首府康定。街头的雕塑。不知道为什么,如果让我住在这样的河谷城市里,我是肯定没安全感的,一旦地震泥石流,立马全军覆没。 路边的雕塑。康定古称“打箭炉”,所以,城里有一条街,叫箭炉街。第二天5点就起床,天还墨墨黑的,就着开水吃一点干粮,然后去车站,司机昨天歇车前就宣布了开车时间,6点。结果等了半天,始终有一个人没来,等到6点15分,仁至义尽,车终于开出了车站。 康定到理塘的路,我真是闭着眼睛也能数得出来。折多山,新都桥,高尔寺山,雅江,剪子弯山,卡子拉山……车子一路盘旋着,海拔慢慢地越来越高,从林木苍翠的原始森林,到植被稀疏的高山草甸,最后全部被雪覆盖。天气并不好,阴得看不到一丝阳光,有时候甚至还下着雨。我很担忧,到了稻城,是否也这样糟糕。 班车上居然有一小半是游客。一停车,那伙人就冲出去,不管是长枪短炮还是小卡片,主人全部是一副专业摄影师的架势,近处拍不过瘾,往往跑到人都看不见,急得司机在那扯着嗓子大喊:“上车了!再不走天黑也到不了!”还不肯上来。路上的秋色。停车吃午饭。吃饭的地方,是雅江城外一个莫名其妙的院子,饭菜象猪食一样粗糙,人均20。贵。山上的秋色。貌似那个小门,是厕所。额,楼猪一不小心猥琐了……请大家自动忽略车窗~~海拔高了,雪也来了……([]
《寻找贡嘎最佳摄影点的八天七夜》[一] 既然无法逃脱,那就让我们走得更近一点!很多年以前,我第一次走在川西的大地上。新都桥傍晚的暮色中,我回头东望,赫然一排闪着银光的雪山漂浮在空中。我仍然记得,那时我恍惚的神情。后来,有人说,那就是贡嘎。那一年,是2007年。此后的每一年,那漂浮的雪山就一直萦绕着我。2008 年夏天的高尔寺垭口,我终于第一次把贡嘎的群山摄入了我的镜头。我清晰地记得,2008年夏天的早晨,高尔寺山垭口的晨雾中,远处那刺破苍穹的群峰。那一年,我知道,这就是贡嘎。2009年的夏天,川藏南线上留下了我十五天的足迹。这一年,我到了黑石山,找到了《中国国家地理》上那经典的贡嘎群山的摄影位置。《中国国家地理》的摄影师们给这里起了个神秘的名字:贡嘎黑石城。那一天,我也把云雾中的贡嘎群山收入了我的镜头。也就是在这一年,我对自己说:我要穿越贡嘎。也是在2009年,秋天。一次公差的机会让我重返了川西,我再一次来到了海螺沟,终于看到了蓝天下一览无余的贡嘎。可是,我至今仍然不知道,海螺沟冰川上的雪山是不是就是贡嘎的主峰?(查过一些资料,有说是,有说不是,希望8264上的高人给我一个明确的答案。)虽然在海螺沟看到的贡嘎是迄今为止我看到的最坦露的贡嘎,可我心不甘,毕竟那是海螺沟。2010年,我走了阿里大环线,贡嘎又一次留在了身后。记得在阿里的路上,我对我的朋友说:下一站是贡嘎。时间到了2011年,我却又一次把我一年中的唯一休假给了甘青川大环线,完成了我五年藏地的全部计划。可贡嘎,还是又一次虚无漂渺地漂浮在空中,漂浮在我的心头。所幸的是,2011年的十月金秋,在我甘青川大环线回来的三个月后,一个突然而至的机会完成了我多年的夙愿:拥抱贡嘎!五年以来,无论是在新都桥的暮色中,还是在塔公的草原;无论是在高尔寺山的垭口,还是在去居里寺的路上;无论是在二郎山的大渡河边,还是盘桓在剪子弯山;无论是在子梅垭口,还是在玉龙溪的泉华滩;145座5000米以上的雪峰簇拥着的贡嘎主峰,总会在你不经意间突然闯入你的视野。那种君临天下的气概,即便在几百公里之外,你都无法逃脱。既然是无法逃脱,那就让我们走得更近一点! [二] 贡嘎的最佳摄影点既然是无法逃脱,那就让我们走得更近一点!一直以来,磨房上墨汁的经典贡嘎让一批批的驴友朝圣般地走向贡嘎,我也不例外。但我更欣赏《中国国家地理》摄影师们的严谨,那一幅幅精美的照片和照片背后的故事促使我在金秋的十月背起了行囊。我要找寻他们的足迹。八天七夜的时间里,我列了个单子,妄想把贡嘎的最佳摄影点一网打尽。贡嘎的最佳摄影点:1、子梅垭口2、子梅垭口去子梅村的盘山路上3、贡嘎寺4、泉华滩5、玉龙溪垭口(雅哈垭口)6、黑石山7、高尔寺山垭口8、牛背山而这其中,黑石山和高尔寺山垭口拍摄的贡嘎群峰已收录在了我2009年的镜头中;牛背山虽然在近几年让许多摄友蜂拥而至,但毕竟云雾莫测又远距离于主峰,我不想让有限的时间白白浪费,所以,这次的行程,我选择了前面五个摄影点。[三] 八天七夜的行程设计尽管是十月,一个欣赏川西秋色和贡嘎主峰美好的季节,但出发前的天气让我们忐忑不安,八天七夜的天气预报上尽是一个个阴沉的脸,这让我们的脸也一路阴沉沉的。为了确保能看到主峰,在行程的设计上,我们是三过子梅垭口,并且在子梅垭口下山后,走玉龙溪到甲根坝,这样的好处就是在几天的行走日子里,贡嘎主峰会一直跟随着我们。行程:D1新都桥D2新都桥—九龙D3九龙—伍须海—日鲁库草原—上木居—子梅垭口—上木居(一过子梅垭口看傍晚日照金山)D4上木居—子梅垭口—上子梅村—贡嘎寺(贡嘎主峰山脚)—上子梅村—子梅垭口—玉龙溪(早晨二过子梅垭口,傍晚三过子梅垭口)D5玉龙溪—泉华滩—玉龙溪垭口(雅哈垭口)—新都桥—康定D6康定—木格措—黄龙溪古镇D7黄龙溪古镇—成都D8成都宽窄子巷在以上的行程中,三过子梅垭口让我们终于看到了贡嘎那君临天下的气概和浩瀚的云海;而在泉华滩,我们找到了中国国家地理摄影师拍摄并入选《中国国家地理 选美中国》贡嘎群峰的相片的位置,复制了一张几乎相同的相片。如果有人问我,八天七夜的日子里,哪些景色留下了最美的记忆?毫无疑问,那就是一路相随的贡嘎,尤其是在子梅垭口和垭口去上子梅村的盘山路上的贡嘎主峰以及泉华滩上拍摄的贡嘎群峰。当然,除了贡嘎,留给我们美好印象的还有在新都桥遇到的川西今年的第一场暴雪、伍须海的惊艳和新都桥甲根坝的秋色。。。而我们的故事,还得从第一晚新都桥不期而至的暴雪说起。。。 [四] 如果有一天,我老无所依,请把我埋藏在川西的秋天里故事暂且不表,先上几张沿途的PP解解馋。其实,到了新都桥的第一个晚上,川西下了一场暴雪,这也是川西今年的第一场大雪。这场暴雪是我们事先没有预料到的,最深处居然有50CM厚度。当时,我们都傻眼了,我们甚至害怕被困在新都桥,甚至萌发了改变行程的想法,因为我们不确定我们的越野车是否能安全地抵达贡嘎。所幸我们坚持了下来,而随后的一路美景让我们语无伦次:川西的秋色掩映在冬雪之中,片片金色映衬着雪白的世界;而雪后的贡嘎是那么纯净,天是那么湛蓝。感谢川西的暴雪,让我们在秋天的季节里看到了冬天的景致,看到了雪后的蜀山之王。当然,随之得出的结论就是:草人,人品真好!在一路的美景中,同行的耗子情不自禁地高歌:如果有一天,我老无所依,请把我埋在春天里!高反,让我这兄弟已分不清是春天还是秋天了。可是,这是秋天还是冬天呢?我也不知道。我只知道,如果有一天,我老去,请把我埋藏在川西,那是一件幸福的事情。子梅垭口仰望贡嘎主峰子梅垭口到上子梅村的盘山路上的马帮和贡嘎主峰旗云、主峰和牦牛 旗云和主峰夕照下的贡嘎云海泉华滩——复制了一张中国国家地理摄影师拍摄的贡嘎群峰伍须海——惊艳的秋雾 伍须海—秋天的色彩伍须海—雾松伍须海的松萝伍须海—秋天的邀请 甲根坝的冬雪世界 楼上的二位大姐大。到底是谁不带谁去啊?西湖的甘青川与我们同一时间却与我们背道而驰,之后又悠哉悠哉去了微笑的柬埔寨;茗禅在我们去甘青川时又一次冒充强驴穿越莲花湖到了贡嘎;抛下吾等三只懒驴,只好乖乖地不拖大姐大们的后腿孤独地在贡嘎自恋一番。还有楼上的本色兄,阿里回来之后,老是想起他那机关枪一样的声音:ISO200,光圈11,暴光减一档。。。估计玛多的惊魂不能让他停止继续前进的脚步。最可气的是成都那二妮子,在康定时,我和达华给她们打电话想让她俩赏给我们一杯成都的功夫茶以庆祝我们胜利穿越贡嘎,没想到她们却跑到九寨去了,害得我们只能在双流独自彷徨,达华甚至忧伤地唱起了:“哥哥找妹泪花流,不见阿妹心忧愁;一路一回头,只好流浪到双流;到了阿妹家门口,阿妹却在九寨沟”。沙德途中朋布西朋布西九龙秋色鸡丑山下人家,让我想起了亚丁和雨崩。日鲁库草原的水 云海光影中的达华贡嘎云海 藏族人家—拍摄于玉龙溪藏族妇女—拍摄于玉龙溪 泉华滩—拍摄贡嘎群峰的绝佳之处贡嘎寺。贡嘎寺是欣赏贡嘎主峰的最佳位置,可惜云雾遮掩。冰河的前端就是主峰的山脚,也是登山大本营。玉龙溪雅哈垭口的贡嘎 甲根坝的秋天新都桥—秋天的请柬 瓦泽—秋天的倒影 瓦泽—秋天的张力折多山木格措([]
狼塔梦开始的地方,去年计划要走的路线,因为种种原因搁浅,今年刚回到北京听迷说要去狼塔,正在犹豫中想想来电话问十一区哪里“狼塔啊”没过几小时,想想再次来电“票出了”,9月29日一行五人踏上西域的征程,梦想希望总是与现实有天壤之别,几次危险的悬崖和垭口与鬼门关擦肩而过,深知户外诱惑力很大还是要珍惜生命, 此次活动属于重装徒步强度较大,男的背负25公斤左右,女的要在20公斤左右,沿途走栈道悬崖,过河数次,平均海拔在3000---4000左右,原计划我们是C线+V线,最后我们小分队7人走呼图壁峡谷因有200---300米峡谷水较大过腰水深,加上不够v线后面5天的食物只好是C线金矿出山,遗憾的没走成狼塔v线 狼塔c线起始于位于北疆昌吉回族自治州的呼图壁河大峡谷,由北向南翻越五座近4000米的达坂后到达南疆巴音郭楞蒙古自治州的和静县巴伦台,全程徒步距离约120公里。呼图壁河发源于河源峰,在当地哈萨克语中,河源峰被称为狼塔,意为有群狼守护的塔山。河源峰海拔高度5290米,山势陡峭,型如尖塔。狼塔C线正是穿越这一地区的一条高危徒步线路。狼塔C线穿越需要翻越冰山隘口、横渡激流、行走空中栈道、穿越草原、森林…风景绝美而又惊险刺激、集巍峨壮美的天山风光之大成。在新疆户外,狼塔C线被评为难度和风景最高的8级,是目前已知的最艰苦的徒步线路之一。在后山一百多公里的无人区里,森林茂密、遮天蔽日;奇花异草、闻所未闻。这里是狼、棕熊、雪豹、野猪、北山羊、盘羊、雪鸡等野生动物的乐园,更是富有探险精神的山友们的向往之地。 此次新疆之行狼塔经历悬崖,过河水过腰,遇盗猎份子大家晚上觉都不敢睡,下雨冰雹暴晒。博格达经历暴风雪能见度五米。喀纳斯经历暴雪,丛林迷路20小时,出险的时候偶遇北京朋友大猫和信天翁一行七人。新疆麦田青旅和水哥结交好多朋友。铁丐友情提示:点击“只看该作者”,美图一览无余,切莫忘记哦!~~(注意是点我——铁丐) 一路西行,到达乌鲁木齐火车晚点五六小时,让在车站外接我的豆浆童鞋喝了三场酒,从几十公里外昌吉过来接我们的新疆树等的太晚先回家了。下火车已经是半夜12点多,把行李放到新疆麦田国际青年旅社,一行人直奔饭店;老板,羊肉串一样来十串,大盘鸡,皮匣子。。。啤酒。快快滴。。。味道相当的美,新疆吃肉的地方太适合要饭的来了。。。哈哈 第二天一早起来,豆浆就过来接我们,微博上看到北京的户外丫头也在乌鲁木齐,头天晚上等着接火车还安排和一位美女一起,结果火车晚点太不靠谱就早点回去休息了,中午过来带我们去南门清真寺旁边的胡同,品尝新疆当地最美的小吃;抓饭,烤包子,新疆的水果可以说是太美了,我这不爱吃水果的人,每天都买很多的葡萄,山里爬山的时候总是脑海里浮现出水果香甜可口的样子。 在新疆进山前和出山后必须是要腐败的,这里就是吃货的天堂 午饭后一行人浩浩荡荡前往乌鲁木齐志性建筑大巴扎,这里更能体现民族风情和各色民族饰品 短暂到达乌市休息一天,在九月一日早上乌市出发前往白杨沟,老规矩放鞭炮点三只烟敬山神 D.1-----上午9;30从乌鲁木齐出发一路欢歌笑语到达常规出发点油罐处,领队又让车继续往上开到实在不能行使的地方,(哦,中午在半路吃了一次新疆拌面,这是俺第一次吃拌面,一开始还是有点抵触情绪,结果吃了一次以后,在新疆无论到哪里都要吃拌面,到现在回到北京还一直怀念,回到内地在也没有吃到过这么正宗的拌面),下午230开始艰苦的行程,从海拔2800开始有一段爬坡,基本沿着山脊行走,由于第一天重装28公斤,身体也没有走开晚上830到达营地,一开始准备带的相机三脚架在狼塔夜晚拍星空的,也在第二天早上被一个下撤的队员带回乌市了。 美丽的天山山脉 早晨阳光晒在帐篷上,很不情愿的从睡袋里爬起来烧水做饭拔营,拔营后直接过河,河水里没有过河点中间的石头非常的滑,一脚踏上石头滑进水里鞋子进水,到岸上赶紧把鞋子脱下来还好只是袜子湿了,换完袜子一路上升走到白杨沟大阪,今天太阳直射在脸上,脸上的汗水瞬间被风吹干凝聚成盐粒。 中午在白杨沟大阪下午饭补充水,午饭后一直拔升到白杨沟大阪海拔3800米,重装拔高头两天很痛苦,途中想着以后几天都是这种拔高,精神意志都很崩溃,一路好几个队员脚底都已经起泡,到达大阪顶部休息片刻一路下降,领队刚刚好在我前面脚底一滑连续翻了两个跟头,幸亏体力较好及时停住否则后果很可怕,一路下撤到鞍部牧民帐篷,豆浆的朋友哈萨克族人非常热情的煮好风干羊肉接待我们,早晨D1营地的阳光 豆浆是一个非常负责的领队一直跑前跑后的收队领队,晚上营地扎营做饭一天三四个菜,背负比任何人都重,白杨沟垭口豆浆深沉的背影遥望着群山。 D2鞍部营地在一个山腰上,旁边是哈萨克族的羊圈,哈萨克族人非常热情的用风干羊肉招待了我们,并且让走不动的人以后几天用马来驼背包。快到?a href="http//ankang.8264.com" class="keyword" target="_blank">安康氖焙蛭铱吹交又徊揭徊酵屡沧抛撸礁安胖澜诺灼鹋萘耍较略绲降男陆佑雅苌侠窗鸦又陌酉氯ァ5酱锇安靠吹角宸缭谌茸源睦弊蛹Γ谒「辖舫粤艘豢榧ν取P恍磺宸缋?br/> 热情的哈萨克族人不紧拿出了风干羊肉还拿出了珍藏的皮牙子(汉族称洋葱)山里时间久了这是最好的消毒食物。 D3天早上大家8:30懒洋洋的从帐篷里爬出来做饭,930从鞍部出发周围的牧民赶着羊群准备下山了(天气逐渐寒冷山上没有食物了牧民要把羊群赶到山下牧场)([]

There are many like-minded asking me about it. I now present this thread to briefly tell everybody about my journey.The starting point of this traverse was from the highest peak of the western part of the Tibetan plateau, Jieshan Daban, and the day was April 20, 2010.I was heading eastward passing Bungdag Co, Yanghu Co, Rola Co, and Kangzhagri Mountain, which crossed over the desolate region from west to east. The journey continued northward to enter the unpopulated area of Altun Mountains, through Hoh Xil Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Whale lake, ..., finally met some people by the Aqqikkol Hu and then arrived in Huatugou by vehicle three days later and that day was July 5. It had been 77 days in total. I had been all alone 74 days after leaving Jieshan Daban until arriving inAqqikkol Hu, which was about 1400km and about four months.[The Great Chang Tang] In Tibetan, "Chang Tang" means northern empty wilderness while narrowly, means unpopulated region in northern part of Tibet. However, it actually indiCATes all of the no man's land in northern. The great Chang Tang includes desolate places in Northern Tibet, Hoh Xil, Alun Mountains, and Kunlun Mountains, which are interconnected to form the unique and super empty wilderness in the world. Only because Hoh Xil is the most known name, most people just think this vast land is equivalent to Hoh Xil. In reality, Hoh Xil is only a small piece of the Great Chang Tang both administratively and geologically. The Great Chang Tang, the last land to chase your freedom and dream.The route that I traversed ForeplayI arrived in Tibet in the early March, a couple of troubles bothered me. The brand new plug got its positive and negative wrongly connected; the rivets of my rucksack eASIly got broken from now and again; and a multi-functional charger got damaged and so on. Riding my bike to Ngari for warming up of this journey, lost my rucksack but later got it back; lost my camera bag and got it back later again, and finally lost a big bicycle pannier in the street of Gyangze town under the eyes of police, including clothes, solar panel and so on.Without much choice, I returned to Lhasa to adjust all the stuff I would need in the wilderness. Then I begged some luck by going to Nyingchi to enjoy the blossoms of peach trees and to take a hot spring bath. I even had the privilege to enjoy time with ten girls in the hot spring. I felt my bad luck had all gone and then returned to Lhasa again to prepare going to Ngari. I did not expect that I was cheated on by some hustler and lost some money and delayed my schedule for a week. I had to find a car myself quickly to Nagri. However, I lost the tool for fast-parting my rear wheel on my way to Nagri, where was a remote area in Tibet and nowhere to buy the tool. Even if there was one in Lhasa it would take at least ten days for a special delivery service. I was lucky that my mate Duola asked a driver to bring the tool for me from Lhasa. I thought there should be no more nightmare like this but the nozzle of my brand new multi-fuel stove was broken. The next day I tried everywhere to weld them back together. The first three shops could not do the welding for copper. The fourth one said they could do it but could not guarantee a sUCCess. The engineer said it would be ten Chinese yuans if it was a success. I agreed. Just in seconds, my nozzle became crap in a flash of lightening. I was so upset. Again, Duola helped me by bringing her own MSR oil stove and Dingding's sleeping bag to Nagri. That was already April 16 and I did not have much time to waste. The following day I found a vehicle heading to Jieshan Daban.The sand storm over Yarlung Zangbo RiverA lonely peach tree blossoming in Yarlung Zangbo Grand CanyonNatural hot spring in wild, me singing and drinking (photo by a friend of mine) Day 1(April 20), 16km, Camping 5192mIt was a truck with a full load of iron wastes, arriving in Jieshan Daban at 6'o clock in the morning. It was still night and extremely cold and dark. Driver was not bothered to pop his head out of the driving cab. I climbed up on the top of the iron wastes, taking my bicycle down. In a hurry, I punched my old water bag. Fortunately I had another MSR water bag given by a friend of mine otherwise I would definitely fail without even starting my journey. For the first time for me to set up the brand new tent in strong, cold winds. It would be impossible to do so if the tent was not a whole piece. Extremely cold outside, about -15C, might be lower than that, I put my head into the sleeping bag but was nearly suffocated to death, honestly. The smell of Dingding's sleeping bag was, lol, so extraordinary. I woke up around 11 o'clock. There were still strong winds outside so that I had to use my bodyweight to keep the tent in place. At the time when I just started to cook and eat, four patrolling soldiers approached me. To their surprise someone, in this season, camped in Jieshan Daban. I was so nervous and afraid they were the people to block my journey because I was caught and deported from the desolate land last year. Luckily the four soldiers did not know my destination and were very kind to me. After they left, I immediately packed my stuff and pushed my bike into the depths of the unpopulated area just in case anything unexpected happened.The bike was very heavy due to the provisions and hard to control. There was even a quite small hill that I had to remove my bike panniers to get over it. This really struck me because this happened even the path was still the hardship one at the moment and I could not imagine what I would do once I entered the uncertain, endless wilderness. Until now I had not met anyone, even the nomadic pastoralists. I remembered there were quite a few of them roaming at the edge of the northern Tibetan plateau last year. All of these indicated it was not the good pasture season in such low temperature and strong winds. Around 16km there was a sheep cote, where I passed it last year, east of Lungmu Co. I was exhausted at this point so that I decided to camp in here and to rest my head. After arranging tent everything I went out to look for the wetland discovered by Duola and Liumeng last year. I was determined to find it.There were many hot springs in the wetland which were underground water with a constant temperature. The wetland therefore became an ideal habitat for some fishes and weeds under such harsh weather, which was the very unique land feature of terrain in this over 5200m highland.Perpetual snow in the valley blown to corn shape by strong windsThis wetland was discovered by Duola and Liumeng. The next day rather than continuing to travel, I stayed inside the sheep cote, hesitating and pondering over. Indeed, there were so many problems before this journey;I did not have sufficient physical preparation;the load had already reached its limitation; I still coughed a lot;the weather was so extreme and cold. All in all, I did not think this journey was well prepared and I did not have confidence in completing this journey mentally and physically. To do, or not to do, it was the question. Similarly I did not have confidence in my facilities, not knowing whether all of them would work functionally or not. The fact was one of the rivets got broken again and the front rack came loose. In the afternoon, I replaced all the rivets of the panniers with screws I had prepared before. This was an excellent job I had done which gave me no further troubles throughout my whole journey. I also re-adjusted the front rack. However I did not think it would definitely all right because I did not have a tool to do it. When the darkness descended,I made up my mind to continue my journey, which, of course, was not beyond any imagination. Orchid-like weedsSmall springs everywhere, clear and chillyA thin layer of ice covering the fresh spring water The sheep cote, it was the door under the sleeping bag, which was in the same place as last year, everything looked like yesterdayThe wetland at duskLungmu Co at dusk. You could hear the gigantic sound of wind if the picture had a sound Day 3 (April 22), 52.4km, Camping 5145mGot up in the morning, could not put everything into the bags. Without much choice I had to throw away three portions of tsampa, elbow pads, and crampons. Following the road of the lead-zinicmine I found the side path to enter the wilderness, which was on the riverbed and very hard to see. I missed this side path last year so that I had to take a short cut into the wilderness directly then. That was why I had taken extra care to find the side path. The following journey was to get over a big hill, which lay 5275m above sea level and was the highest point of my whole journey. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I passed the side path leading to Orba Co and started a journey which was complete strange to me. I ate a piece of pilot breads, which was frozen like rocks so that I had to use my spade to crush it. At 6 o'clock in the evening, I had pushed plus rode my bicycle for about 32 km. I reckoned I should have been able to double this if I did no carry such heavy load. The wind became stronger and stronger. I opened the parasail kits and tested it. The result was far beyond what I expected. With the aid of the strong wind I was just like flying over the wilderness. After 8 o'clock in the evening, I started to observe the water Source and to get ready to camp. Map showed there were successive springs along the path and assembled to puddles. But I had overestimated the water source here in this land and in this season there were endless wilderness inside the valley, where I could not see a single drop of water. As it became darker and darker, I felt a little bit nervous which resulted in three spokes of the parasail broken and became a useless rubbish. Anyway, it helped me to move forward 20km more which benefited me a lot later on. When time approached 9.30 pm, it was almost completely dark. I had to lie my bike on the ground and went on to try to find water on the north side of the valley. This was a wide and flat sandy land, where I could not see any ditches there and further was complete darkness. I returned to get my GPS to look up the contours and found the south part of the valley was closer to a hill so I took the way. Finally I found a piece of ice in a ditch. I smashed about 20litre of ice. The ice was quite shallow scattered with sheep poo. On my way back, my eyes were hurt by strong winds, which got me a couple of days to recover. It was nearly 23 o'clock after I set up the tent. It also took about 40 mins to melt the ice. I was so tired and my appetite was completely spoiled. I then had a little bit of milk. I had never expected thing would go like this, it was so distressing. Streams along the path, ice everywhereThe river flew into Matou Hu, in whose north part there was a satellite lake, a wonderful ice-skating court It took 40mins to melt the ice in midnight Day 4 (April 23), 31km, Camping 5028mA cloudy day with gusts. From now and again, hails chased me from behind. Sunny spell. Heavy sandy land made me have to push my bike. At 3pm, I arrived at Luxing Hu, where there was a house made of clay. This was the last permanent building of my journey. Last year, Duola and Liumeng once lived in this house for three days without meeting anybody. It seemed it was the same but the truck parking in front of the house made me worry about. I went to the sheep cote first to check over, where there were only a few lambs following me everywhere I went later on. This made me feel warm in my heart. I observed farther places using my binoculars but could not see any people or sheeps. After making sure there were no people around I opened the locked door using a screwdriver. The living room was very clean. There were two boxes of beverages on the ground and a string of cured lamb legs hanging over in the interior room. A pot of water was on the top of the stove, lukewarm, which indicated the host must be not far away from his home. I filled up my water bag and left the house. I also put the screws back to the door in order not to leave any trace of my visiting. I then took a spanner from the toolbox of the truck, which gave me great help for the rest of the journey.I left the house as quickly as possible. After last year's experience, the nomadic pastoralists were the last people I wanted to meet. A few hundred meters away from the house, the vehicle traces were fading fast. Even downhill, I had to push rather than to ride because of the heavy loose sand. From the route point of view, only after Luxing Hu it was the real unpopulated land. After many days, I thought of the lamb legs from time to time. It was pity that I then had plenty of provisions and the bike was too heavy to carry anything more. Continue to melt the ice under the morning sunshine, all of the sheep poo had been removed carefullyCamping site, the little hill over there was the place where I got the ice last nightThe house by the Luxing Hu, empty, the last permanent building I saw throughout my journeyDay 5 (April 24), 19.8km, Camping 4951mSet off at 10.30 in the morning, the weather was similar to yesterday. Probably this road was the high plain or somewhere the wind passed so that it was so windy. The average wind speed was degree 6 but could reach degree 9 in the blick of an eye. The road was still full of sand and very heavy to walk on it. My eyes became worse under such harsh weather. About three o'clock in the afternoon, I saw something in my right, looked like antenna. I went closer to see what it was and found out it was an iron tower (the triangulation station). In 1970s, a joint team from Chinese three military regiments entered this area doing research. They have left a lot of triangulation stations and benchmarks, which I had the priviledge to see them today.At dusk, I approached to a spring by the Bungdag Co, which flew into the frozon lake. The sand and soil, brought by the strong wind, scattered on the surface of the ice all over the lake. There were so many cracks around the icey surface of the lake. I geussed it must be caused by the springs under the water rather than by melted ice. In the west of the Bungdag Co was the side path leading to Keriya Pass, where a SUV could reach directly. I had looked out any vehicle Tracks but failed. The cloudy sky started to snow. I set up the tent comfortably because I knew that I was safe having such a sweet spring beside me.Triangulation station erected by scientists from the joint research team on Chang Tang of three military regiments in 1971[size=+0]The gap between water and ice in Bungdag Co, I guessed there must be some springs under the lakeThe storm just above the ground, a chaotic darkness[size=+0]Icy Bungdag Co,one of the four biggest lakes in Northern Tibet, wild ducks flying over this vastness and lonenessSnowing at any time, should not happen so frequently like this in this seasonDay 6 (April 25), 4.3km, Camping 5002mWeathering landforms everywhere around this area. Spongy volcanic rocks could be found easily. I pushed my bike turning around a small hill, seeing a big river, the Yinshui He, flowing from Orba Co into Bungdag Co, which I had been to its upstream last year. It was also a passage for animal migration. The downstream of the river was extremely wide and broad. The thickess of the ice layer could reach one meter with the main stem in the middle course of the river, very deep. There were a few springs along the river, sweet and clear.I only went forward a little bit more than 4km but I had walked more than 20km for finding my way. It was not possible to cross the main stem, let alone the north bank of Bungdad Co. What I could only do was to try to find a shallow place to cross. But the southern area was a even larger piece of wetland and forced the road turn towards west. I spent a couple of hours but failed to find a good point to cross the river. In the afternoon, I decided to follow the edge of the wetland. When I reached the hill foot, the wetland finally disappeared. Around this area, there were clearly volcanic feature of terrain and I even found traces of pasturing and cairns made from volcanic rock.Here was the last pasturing trace I found throughout my journey, I guessed it was a summer pasture area. After this, there was no clear sign of human activities in this vast wilderness. I had been looking for my ways until it was dark. I made up my mind where to go TOMOrrow. The terrain here looked like Yardang landforms, as well as volcanic landforms The Yinshui He river from Orba CoSprings scattered all over the river bank, painted green by lovely algaeThe river was very deep. To the right was the wetlandLooking for ways in the east, a trace of pasturing and the cairn made from spongy volcanic rocksMy camp, opposite to the hillDay 7 (April 26), 11km, Camping 5009mI moved forward to the direction I found yesterday, turning around the wetland and walking toward east. At 2pm, I was blocked by the zigzag Yinshui He again and I had no choice but to cross it. The river was about 700m wide, covered by ice which appeared very different. The hanging ice, the folding ice, the piling-up ice, the icy puddle, and the sleet were everywhere along the river bank. Having noticed all of these, I reckoned the river would be receding at dusk, which was why there were so many different shapes and forms of ice. I put my slipper on, going into the main stream of the river. I found there were at least three different courses of the river, the thickness of the surface ice varied and the river water reached above my knees. I sighed there would be no way back once I crossed this river. There are many ways in one's life too, you can only take it once and you will no long have the courage to repeat it.I pushed the bike crossing the river. Some of the ice was a bit soft, jamming the tyres so that I had to use my feet to break them first. Some of the ice was a bit thick but with half-melted underneath, sticking the the bike completely, some of the ice was half-water half-ice with a sandy riverbed, which was really hard to pass. I had to remove all of the panniers at the last stage of the crossing. I spent the whole four hours to cross the river, my legs got many bloody cuts. At 6pm, the surface ice was almost disappeared completely, the river level rapidly rising to a chaotic status. I thought if I hesitated a little bit at that time, I could not have the courage to cross this river under such circumstances. The river bank was unimaginably sandy and was quite steep. I had to unloaded the panniers again to reach the top of the bank. By the time of sunset, the weather became exceptionally good. The sunlight from the descending sun, the blue sky, the faint moon, .... Since then I used GPS to check the mileage. The digital thermometer was no longer working. I had to use mercury thermometer to collect data. Night temperatures were basically between –15℃—–20℃ while the temperature inside my tent was about –10℃. The advantage of the integrated tent was that it limited the ventilation so to keep warm inside. However, it got clearly disadvantage of heavy condensation and dew. Every morning, there was plenty of frost inside the tent so that I had to put my hood on First Before fully getting dressed. The winds in Chang Tang finally became consistent with the pattern I had researched the other day no or very tiny wind in the morning, strong wind started after 2pm, and then at around 8pm its strength was reduced again. The accuracy of this prediction was about 80%.The road was very bad today. I walked whole afternoon in an ancient riverbed and it was so difficult that I had to use all of my strengths to move a small step forward and then to stop to breath, slower than a snail. After five hours' struggling, my eyes got wet when I saw the grassy river bank. Finally! The nightmare was over.Cold and clear morningHeavy morning condensation in the interior, a lot of frost to clearSuch dawning sunlight indicated a cloudy day ahead Day 9 (April 28), 18km, 5072mIn the morning I entered a range of sandy roads which were so terrible. The solar panel specially designed for GPS got short circuited. After checking it was found to be the diode got damaged. Luckily I got a replacement. Because the GPS was exclusively supplied by a solar panel so that it was no longer a problem for the power supplement of GPS. In a period of 70 days, I did replace the battery once, which saved me a lot of alkaline batteries. I did have another solar panel of 5.4 W which was used specifically for 7.5V Camera, DV and other digital facilities. Unlike water, I had never been short of power.At 7pm in the evening, I arrived at Pur Co. The surface of this lake was very odd the ice by the river bank rose and the river bank was broken, I reckoned that was due to the strong winds. The ice there was mingled with something yellow, could be the stain of alkali. There were many wild yaks on the other side of the lake. There could be two brown bears but I could not be for certain. On the east side of the lake, there was a peninsula leading to the centre of the lake. I camped just opposite to the peninsula. At night , I smashed the ice to get drinking water, which tasted alkali. For the first time I cooked the cereals, which was brought completely by accident. This was just because I found there was a little bit of extra space when I was in Nagri packing the stuff for this journey so that I bought two packs of cereals. It tasted disgusting, probably there was too much alkali in the water. I threw away half of it. Later I realised that probably I subconsciously felt that the provisions was so heavy. The wild yaks clustered into small groups. All of a sudden, there was a group of five of them running towards me, blowing a huge cloud of dust with the power of thunderbolts,I believed that anyone who did not know the characters of the wild yaks must be frightened to death under such circumstances. The fact was the wild yaks in groups never injured people. Rushing to you just to show you its territory. When they approached people at certain distance, they would turn sharply and run away, and then stopped somewhere high to stare at you. You can not imagine that the wild yaks were very cautious animals compared with its almost one ton of weight. Their first reaction, when meeting people, was to raise their tails, the front hooves rubbing against the ground, the horns pointing forward, the eyes redden, and the long body hair shaking, all of which showed their determination to fight.This was the warning sign that you should retreat. However, you should realise that this was only a gesture that they were afraid of you and wanted to scare you away. The thing was that if you were not afraid of them and moved forward, they would run away in no time. There were only some mad yaks attacking people, which was really rare to happen. In Chang Tang, an experienced driver know that it is very dangerous to pass directly from two or three lonely wild yaks. They always tried to avoid confronting them directly. If this was not possible, they would lit a cigarette, smoking, to wait until the yaks walked away themselves. This was because the wild yaks really could attack vehicles, which was not completely rumors. I once asked them why I had not been attacked. They told me that because my bike was so small they would not be bothered to attack it. My own experience was that approaching a wild yak very slowly, do not look into its eyes, and ignored what it was doing. As long as it moved forward a little bit, just stop and give the yaks a little bit of time to think. Because if you forced the yak, it could be themost dangerous animal in the world and nothing could stop them killing. Even a gunshot could not kill it but only left a small hole in its skin. In the past, the nomads living near this land would use yaks' skin as chopping board which was very much endurable. At noon, I lost my balacLAVA, which was brand new and I had never used it once. I could not be bothered to go back tofind it. This resulted in that I had to have my fleece hat day and night in the rest of my journey, which did not provide fully protection from the sun in the plateau. But somehow I was all right, perhaps because my skin is similar to those of yaks, lol. At around half past one, I found a deserted Jeep, upside down. I felt it could be there for years and it could be the vehicle of someillegal HUNTERs. Nowadays, we have wildlife conservation reserves in Chang Tang and the animals here are well protected. However, some people kills the wild yaks to sell them as the domestic yak's meat. In general, it is worth 10,000 Chinese yuans for a single wild yak. Therefore many people take the risk to make money. They often enter the unpopulated areas to hunt and their activities can reach 200 km in diameter. This is why the wild yaks in the deep wilderness are less afraid of people than thoseat the boundaries of the Chang Tang region.There once happened that a wild yak mother revenged its baby's murder in the Altun mountains. Its horns pierced the killer's chest and held his body over its head for more than ten days, which was very touching.Around 3pm, I walked out of the Pur basin. The next point was Hong Shan Daban and then it was the Yueya Hu by the Toze Gangri. At this time I found a vehicle track from south to north. I checked over but could not find the way where they had gone. I took my map, GPS, and compass, climbing up a small hill to estimate the location of Hong Shan Daban. The mountain was very round and it was hard to find the mountain pass. After determining the location of the Daban, I moved straightforward. When I passed a messy grassland, I saw something that I was reluctant to see more than hundreds of wild yaks' head scattered all over, which was definitely the scene of the illegal hunting. After that it was a very long ancient river bed with soft sand slowly rising until the foot of the mountain.There are some spines on the surface of the tongues of wild yaks, which are used by nomads in this area as combs. They use them from their teens to the time when their hair becomes silver.The deserted Jeep, could be left by illegal hunters years agoThe slaughtered wild yaks with the wheel size heads. Some of the skulls were chopped into half. Why was that? Could be taken away for making combs?My camp at the foot of the Daban underthe lingering golden rays of the setting sun. Tomorrow's weather must be wonderful, I reckoned Day 11(April 30), 20.4km, Camping 5120mThe surface of the road leading to Hong Shan Daban was very hard, most of them were small rocks, sort of gravels, plus a quite long downhill slope, I pushed my bike more than 20km for the first time after Luxing Hu. The mountain pass was quite flat, just like a broad ridge, it was 5256m above the sea level. Upon arriving at the pass, Toze Gangri of 6356m was in my sight clearly, very much round and there was no back bone like normal snow covered mountains. Most of the snow mountains in Chang Tang looked like this probably it was due to the geological movements. There were quite a few chirus or Tibetan antelopes in the valley but I was not interested in this kind of animals anymore after I witnessed a large scale of migration of such animals last year elsewhere.The herbivorous animals here are very quick to reach its original size of the population, such as wild yaks, chirus, Tibetan gazelle, pika, and marmot. When you go into the depths of the Chang Tang, you could hardly be surpised by the sudden appearance of the chirus because they are so common in here. At this time of year, the chirus have already male-female parted. You could see many pregnant female chirus but hardly see any males. According to recent research, Zonag Co is not the only lake for breeding. There are at least four of them in the whole Chang Tang. Zonag Co, Tuzi Hu, Heishi Beihu, and another lake I can not remember. I think there must be more than four of them and most of the populations do not migrant long way like most people used to think. They generally migrant from south to north between Central Mountains and Kunlun Mountains.The chirus looks very timid but are very curious about outside world. They are not really afraid of people, particularly in the depth of the Chang Tang. The nearest distance we can approach is about 30m. They just stare at you calmly and think who you are and why you move so slow. They would run in front of you. Look like they are afraid of you but the fact is they are playing with you. A man's own character shapes his fortune. This is of course suit for animals too. The chirus are the typical one. They have a super speed and a pair of sharp antlers. If they are crazy, three of them work together could easily kill a wolf. But as you might have known, their antlers are just for fighting to mate with females.Down the Daban there was a very steep and straight road, I tried to ride the bicycle but ended up with falling over. The front rack came loose and one of the pannier flew into valley. The foot of the mountain was the Yueya Hu covered by ice, which was alake full of heavy metal elements. Along the lake bank there were many stark rocks very much weathered, lining up just like castles or houses. This made me stop to investigate what they were from time to time, I did understand they were just rocks though but they were so real like the figures of real people. On of them even made me hide in a ditch, observing them again and again using my binoculars. There were also many black volcanic rocks. All in all, the features of this area were really unusual.Passed over the Yueya Hu, it was an endless ancient lake bed. What my GPS showed was this area was a big lake like tentacles. I looked around, it was endless wilderness without a piece of ice and a drop of water. Roughly, I estimated this lake bed was about 1200 square meters. I had to tell you that Chang Tang was a place where there was no high-resolution map. The marks in the map often were some kind of memory. Just like this ancient lake bed under my feet, may be it was full of water a few years ago. Who knows. Pushing the bike in such an endless lake bed was very easy to get lost. About wildlife (part 1)Declaration Personal experience for reference onlyDangerous wild animals and their threats to human beings are a ever-LASTING subject for those backpackers travelling in the wild.In Chang Tang, for example, there are two kinds of deadly animals, one is wolves and the other is brawn bears. As substitutes, wild yaks and crows might be dangerous to you in some circumstances that I will come back to this a little bit later on. As for how to protect yourself against these dangerous animals, I think the primary point is you do not try to hurt them because the emotions of human and animals are same instinctively. [Wolves]Throughout my journey, I met wolves a total of seven times, in which I confronted them five times. As you might have known that wolves have become more and more solitary animals, it is very rare they live in a large group nowadays. Please allow me off the point a little bit and talk about the ecological problems in Chang Tang. The problem is now not the decrease of the number of the chirus but the imbalance of the whole food chain, more specifically, the number of the animals on the higher trophic levels of the food chain has not yet reached its ideal level which results in this kind of imbalance. Particularly, the pikas and the marmots who have lost their predators rapidly expanse which results in the desertification of Chang Tang. As early as the middle of last century, wolves were the dominant predators in the vast wilderness. They became a threat not only to other preys but also nomads pasturing in this land. Therefore, the then government called on people to cull back the population of the wolves in Chang Tang, which resulted in the current situation directly. The last official record about wolves attacking humans was around 1970s, which happened in Bamaoqiongzong. A team of secientists was surrounded by a group of wolves and they had to shoot them using guns. Of course, at present in Chang Tang, wolves are absolutely lonely.In this traverse, the first time I encountered a pair of wolves, one of them staying in front of me pretending to attack me while the other staying behind me. This is the standard attacking strategy of wolves. First, you should not be nervous which can be easily detected by the predators. Second, you should not retreat even an inch because this means you are the prey rather than the predator. Do not make any large movement, of course you could take a picture if you feel safe to do so. You must look into its eyes for a few minutes or even half an hour. When the wolves can not work out who you are and consider you are not posing any danger to them, then they will leave. You should remember that wolves in this land do not lack of food and it is much easy for them to catch a pika than a human. Even if being hungry, they would evaluate how easy to get you done, What you need to do is to show them that you are not interested in them and you are not afraid of them at all, let alone to show your ID card to them. As for the wolves family, really, I have not heard for ages. If you really have an encounter with them and they have no other choice, then it definitely depends on your forture. In fact, for so many year, it has been very rare to happen that wolves kill human. But the rumours are still there, in particular, the road connecting Xinjiang and Tibet.The nearest encounter with a wolf throughout my journey, no conflict at all[Brown Bears]Brown bears are real dangerous animals to human. Every year there are some accidents happened in some regions of Xinjiang on the north side of Kunkun Mountains and steppes in Northern Tibet. More than that the bears could attack your house, smash your windows, and eat your sheep. Therefore, in Northern Tibet some local councils give subsidies to the pastorarists for compensating the losses due to the bears because they are not allow to fight back and kill the bears except their lives are in great danger. Once there was a nomad taught me a method to protect yourself from bears. He told me to pick up a stick to feed the bear and the bear thinks the stick is your hand which tastes disgusting. So the bear would leave. It was so funny but the reality is to find a stick in this vast wilderness is just like you win the lottery.Bears are omonivorous animal who are generally not interested in human flesh. You can find that in most of accidents, the bears did not eat any of the human flesh rather they just smashed them for kind of fun that we could not understand. For the reason why bears kill human, one explanation is the conflict between human and wildlife in this extreme ecological environment. The nomads invade the habitats of the bears, which results in these conflicts. On the other hand, it might be because bears have quite high IQ so that they think it is much easy to kill a sheep in the cote rather than to kill a pika in the wild.I have met bears five times in my traverse, in two cases we were very close to each other. I had even walked with one of them for quite a while, just like we had a date for a walk. The fact is it is not that terrible like you might imagine. The same rules for dealing with wolves apply to bears. Never provoke dangerous animals. A bear can run at a speed of 40km/h, do you think you can compete this in a highland 5,000m above sea level?However, there is a situation where it is really dangerous, that is the encounter. It is not easy to control your instinctive reaction to the external dangers. Last year once I turned around a hill, there was a bear just in front of me. The bear of course was frightened by me with its front legs holding up, waving in the air and roaring. At that time I sat on the ground, ignoring it. The bear then left in a few minutes. Chang Tang is a vast land so that this is not that easy to happen. But if it does happen, really only God can bless you.The nearest encounter with a bear throughout my journey. This bear disappeared in a herd of wild yaks, which I had tried hard to spot, really weird About wildlife (part 2)Declaration personal experience for reference only.[Wild Yaks]I have talked about quite a few, like in the post of Day10. I will no longer talk about it.This was the funniest encounter with a solitary wild yak, who did not warn me. If I sat down, it sat down too. If I moved forward, it stopped. Could not imagine what it was thinking about.[Crows]Crows are dangerous only when you fall unconscious in the wilderness. Of course they will be the first to taste your flesh in that case. Unlike their cousinsliving in urban areas, the crows in Chang Tang have a larger body like eagles. When they fly over your head, you could feel like it is a piece of cloud. They are scavengers but like fresh meat too. It once happened that a baby was killed by crows relentlessly, let alone the lambs got killed by them. Once a nomad asked me for fireworks to scare the crows away. (They are sacred birds not to be killed by human)It is easy to defend yourself against crows, that is to keep fighting, never fall in the wilderness.A short break attracted the crows. Of course, they were miscalculating this time, photo taken last year[Strategies Adopted]At the time when I met the four soldiers in Jieshan Daban, they said there were many dangerous animals in the Northern Tibet and asked me if I had brought a shotgun. I think if they knew that I would enter Chang Tang they would definitely check if I really have a shotgun. The so-called defence facilities I brought with me were the fireworks and pepper spray. I had never used them. The fireworks were ruined and thrown away when I crossed a river and I had never opened the pepper spray. I even had never thought about this when camping in the night. The reason was I did not feel the needs. During the day time whenever I met any animals I had never touched the knife I had brought. I did not have anything to defend myself when I walked out to investigate the route. The Chang Tang is really a vast area so as to be very easy to detect anything strange.By the way, you'd better to avoid mating season's animals because even tamed rabbits could be aggressive in mating season.The thing is even if you have a gun, it is not very much helpful when bears attack you. Therefore, your attitude is most important.I can tell you something. Dogs are more dangerous than these wild animals. I had been chased by Tibetan dogs, pounced on by dogs in mating season, also besieged by a group of dogs. I really feel it is more useful to know how to defend a dog.Declaration again The above experience is from Chang Tang only. Of course, the more you prepared, the better. Day 12 (May 1), 23.8km, Camping 5117mToday was May 1 -- the Labour Day, I had been walking in some lake area marked in the map but clearly dried up. The lake basin was flat and hard so that I even pushed my bike more than 20km. Let it be the special treat for my May Day. After midday it became cloudy with growing winds. Since the Yueya Hu that I passed yesterday, there were no big lakes until Yanghu Co (My route would be between Jianshui Hu and Bairab Co), there was even no light alkaline water to drink so I had to pay extra attention not to miss any possible drinking water supply to fill up my water bag. There were a few very small lakes but all were alkaline puddles which was very shallow, whose depth was no more than the length of a half-finger. These puddles were covered with a hard shell of the mixture of salt and ice which smelled stinking and decaying when getting closer, must be toxic water I supposed. On the shore of this type of small lakes it was muddy soil and very hard to get closer.There was no sign of tundra at all.It was almost half past six when I found some snow corns in a ditch, which was the only drinking water supply of the day. There was a thin layer of melted ice on the surface of the ground near the snow corn, which was very hard to collect and was contaminated by the alkali. The snow corn was the yet melted thick snow, which was shaped like a corn by wind. The snow was quite hard and dry,porous like ice. I crushed a few snow corns, putting them into the water bag.They would be my drinking water tonight. These snow corns were the only one in today's wilderness, I reckoned the reason why they were not melted like others was the soil underneath contained large amount of ice blocks which acted as a freezer.Very strong gale in the night, it was hard to bear the sound of the vibration of the tent. Small single tent was good in the sense that it would not be blown away as long as you stayed inside. But you had to be very careful to set up the tent. I once did not pay much attention when doing so, the tent was blown away by winds, and rolling over like a Giant lantern ... I ran after it, got it back, and was exhausted. In general, it is not possible to fix the tent completely using tent pegs because they were not very much effective like large tents. It was snowing around 23 o'clock, the winds were howling from north,then the falling snow flakes landed on my tent quietly, I finally felt at peace and fell asleep. The flat ancient lake basin, assisting me walking more than 20kmSmall lake en route, toxic waterSnow corns, the only drinking water supply today Day 13 (May 2), 0km, Camping 5117mWaking up in the morning and opening the tent, the heavy snow outside must be sent by the God to force me have a break for the May Day. After lying in for a while, getting up and walking on the snowy ground out I went to have a look around. As first sight there were a herd of chirus. They were plainly to be spotted because they looked like a clear black straight line in the while snow. I returned to get my camera and then followed them to take some pictures. But they were very much alert and kept a quite long distance from me. I felt they were a group of pregnant females, instinctively protecting themselves from any potential harm. I was no longer short of water, the snow gave me a precious supply of drinking water. The problem was that they were very petrol consuming. I tool 8.6 litre of petrol and the oil stove was Duola's MSR. The pot was of 1.5 litre, mainly for boiling water. After several days' experiments, I found that the liquid water needed 16mins and 14-15mins to boil in the morning and evening, respectively. For ice, it would take 35-40mins while for snow it took 45-50mins. Melting snow was a very time and petrol consuming process so if I had a choice between snow and light alkaline water, most of time I would go with the latter. Lying inside the tent, listening to musics,I smoked a cigarette while gazing at the more and more chirus around me. Because it was very cold I had been wearing my shoes all the time. Now I just put my bare feet under the warm sun for some fresh air. I found three cuts in my hands and one in my sole.
