长达一个月的南极行摄之旅结束了,一直忙着工作,今天把我这次旅行的照片分享给朋友们……拉萨-北京-香港-迪拜-里约热内卢-布宜诺斯.爱丽斯-乌斯怀亚-南极很多朋友问我去了南极有什么样的感受?有的二B媒体还要给我来个采访,采访你妹啊,去个南极又不是去月球了……其实南极吧,除了冰就是雪;除了企鹅、海豹就是鲸鱼呗……多了不说上照片吧~ 无论走到哪里,小黄旗一直带在身上~ 飞机从香港出发,经迪拜、巴西、到达阿根廷的首府布宜诺斯.爱丽斯,再转程飞机到达南美最著名的有着世界尽头之称旅游城市-乌斯怀亚……这里风景秀丽,海洋动物繁多……乌斯怀亚的海湾停靠着众多私家游艇……晚餐品尝了超大的蜘蛛蟹,美味啊~~从这里开始了我们的南极之旅~这是我们的游轮,6000吨级的,是俄罗斯的军用船退役下来的,船员也是俄罗斯国家探险队的成员……([]

致,山的那边是什么,为梦作序 一直记得:很小的时候,每天早上起来,走到院子里,看见太阳总是从房子旁边山后面升起,射来耀眼金光!那是一道斜斜的山梁子,在太阳的映照下,一个个大大小小的小黑点排列着,有疏有密,高矮不齐,其中有一个特别显眼,孤零零的立在中间。那时候,我总是想:太阳天天从那那山后面爬上来,那边会有些什么呢??? 有幸,我后来能够满足这个好奇那山梁子后面有我们家最远的一块田!渐渐地我大些了,母亲开始带我过去干农活。每次去那边干农活,走到那山梁子的时候,我总试图找出其中那个最显眼的小黑点,看看它究竟长什么样儿,但却只看到漫山遍野青松随风摇曳,不知道哪棵是那个最显眼的小黑点!过了那个山梁子,又是一个小一点的山梁子,翻过去就到了我们家最远的那块田,那地方叫 /江尽沟/ <将军沟> ! 那里满山满山的野竹子,风吹竹浪,总感觉特不一样。 往东,我就只能走到这里了,田就在沟边上,沟那边又是一个巨大的山梁子,我看着太阳又从那边升起来 。那么这个山梁子后面又有些什么???这个山梁子连名字都没人知道!渐渐地,我上4年级5年级了,我漫山遍野砍柴,割草,最多的时候是挖草药挣零花钱,我可以并且有能力去得更远一点了,我尝试着翻过沟那边那道巨大的山梁子,去看看山的那边是什么,于是,我观察了不同的路线,窜了好几次,但都没能成功,那是片荒凉又贫瘠的野山,连棵大树都没有,只有各种怪石沟坎,还有超多的毛栗果子刺,摊在石头上,裹在草丛里,衣服裤子都被倒钩刺抓得噗噗响,满是线头,手背上更是血口一道道。太阳好毒,带的茶都被闷热了,打开盖子,装过白酒的饮料壶冲出来一股茶酒馊味!最要命的满山的一种叫做王皮针的草,草穗子朝衣服里面钻了扎人,然后尾巴脱落,每次回家都得脱下衣服翻上好半天~~~往往十天半月后还有顽固分子在折磨我!要翻过那道山梁子,异常艰难! 西边,仿佛更遥不可及,我家门前就是一座估计一百多米的山峰,背后有二叔和乡亲们的田,我只要几分钟就可以爬到顶上去,在顶上可以看过去很远,中间没有大山挡视线,经常看见太阳无精打采的落到很远的山后面去了,看着那已经远的有些模糊的山头,我没有太多好奇,只觉得那实在是太遥远太遥远了,遥远得我没有希望去到那边!因为:离家200多米,是一条小河,在一条超大的峡谷底部,峡谷两边都是几百米的笔直笔直的悬崖,很多地方明化化的大片大片寸草不生!对面有一块悬崖中间还两个黑黑的洞,听老人家讲里面可以捡到枪和子弹,可以挖到筛子大的魔芋,好神奇! 最开心在去外公家拜年的时候沿这条河走着过瘾,那是往北的方向,一路上风景变换,还可以看见很多平常看不到的花草树木,瀑布洞穴,各种奇怪的鸟叫声!我沉浸在满足的好奇当中,幻想着过了这条河,是个什么世界!我是不可能越过这条峡谷的,我没有理由也没有机会越过这大峡谷去到那边,那边没有我家的田,也没有我家的亲戚!我也没有这个能力!在家前面的小山包上,我看见峡谷那边满是层层叠叠波浪起伏般的山峦和田,隐隐约约,一直到看不见的地方,峡谷里的那条小河经过几个小瀑布,它们仿佛永远不知疲倦的嘶吼着,绕过几个山脚汇入山脚下的大河,大河拐进那些山中不见了,不知道流向何方,好远,好神秘~ !那时候,最想的就是要是有个亲戚住在峡谷那边该多好,这样我就有机会去到峡谷那边,看看那边又是什么样子了! 六年级的时候吧,我终于能够去到山的那边了,那是去一个很远的亲戚家,我们迎着太阳直接翻过东边的大山,又越过一条小河,听爸爸讲:家里山脚下那条大河就是这条河流过去的矣。那亲戚就在河对面的大山上,那山跟我家所在的山一样巨大!原来,山的那边还是山。那这座山后面又是什么呢???这几年学会电脑以后,没事我总喜欢打开谷歌地球,翻到老家那一块,从空中看看那些山后面都是什么。这是一个心结!后来一次去,是沿着山脚下的大河一直往上头走,走到太阳落山,一路玩着水,真开心,我还发现了这条河和去外公家的那条河好多不一样的地方,比如说,少了好多黑乎乎的长者巨大石头牙齿的房子那么大的山洞!而且,我又知道了一些新的奇怪的地名,我期待着有一天能够去看看那些奇怪名字的地方~ 上初中后,我更强了,我不需要再在书包里揣着把小锄头才能到处跑了,我去了一些以前不可能去的地方,我不但能够经常去镇上,而且还去到了乡里,乡里好热闹,居然会有那么大的车那么神奇的建筑(加油站)。那时候学校有个很可观的图书室,比小学那个的书多多了。我从图书室借的书上了解到,这个世界上还有着很多更神奇的地方,也就是那时候,我知道了神秘的北纬30度,知道了许多的未解之谜,有点怀疑那些是不是真的,我慢慢等着毕业,毕业了我就可以出门打工了,可以去很远很远的地方,可以知道山的那边是什么 。 毕业了,我终于可以去到很远的地方了,虽然不是想去哪里就去到哪里。虽然我还没有勇气去证实对书中的怀疑!我满足的沉浸在书和电影的世界里,探索着万般好奇,感受着书中自有黄金屋,书中自有颜如玉的奇迹!09年底,我学会了上网,我发现了一个更广阔的天地,那时候我常说:上网能用两个东西就可以了,QQ 和百度,百度的知识量对于我之前的世界来说,是爆炸性的! 这些年下来,我知道了太阳升起来的那边都有些什么,我知道了大海是什么感觉,我知道了从空中看到的云是什么样的……!这些年来,每一次转移,无论是火车,还是晕的连胆汁都吐出来的汽车,还是只能顺着江河走的轮船,还是飞在天上的飞机,我白天都不睡觉,绝大部分时间我都趴在窗口看外面的风景,晚上是痛苦的,黑得一塌糊涂,什么也看不见,我很无奈的错过。我对这个世界有着太多的好奇,我要看遍这个世界!!!但是,我始终只能这样顺便的一路看过去,对于我来说,北纬30度的奇迹,似乎永远是些“未解之谜”我不敢想象:我是否能够去证实那些未解之谜!!! 就这样点点滴滴,我饥渴的吮吸着,填不饱对这个世界一切未知的求知欲,我渴望真正的走出去,以最直接最真实的方式,满足我所有的好奇…… 07年底,对于我来说,是一个非比寻常的转折,我带出了我家弟弟,他疯狂的爱上了自行车,并慢慢走上职业化的领域。这更加开阔了我的眼界,09年底我学会了上网,进一步开阔了我的世界。我开始发现一些现实的走出去的途径,再后来我也有了能远行的自行车,…… 我一直没能知道峡谷的那边都有些什么,我幻想着什么时候能够去到峡谷的那边,看看那边是一个什么世界。 12年年底,我终于轻轻的迈出了第一步,我提着已经花到4000多块的第二部自行车,去了我梦寐以求的未来第一大都市——上海,还去了厦门!这一步因为迈得太轻,最终落地也就没什么感觉~!至此,我出来整整10个年头了! 我所谓的理想,不过如此肤浅,我所谓的旅行,不过如此单薄,仅仅就是去满足自己的好奇心而已,我亦不愿赋予我的行动太多太高的含义!你翻过的,不过是你心中的那座山,于他人何关,你要面对的,亦不过是你自己。说到底,兴趣而已…… 预知后事如何,且听下回分解~掌声~~~2013年五月,我辞掉了个人有史以来最肥美的工作,回蜗居的路上,我突然开始“怀疑人生”~!或许应该换种说法,叫~脑洞大开~!几晚挣扎+纠结,我一个星期后踩着单车上了318…… 318,驰名天下,我从头走到尾,走得很壮烈………此处省略一万字! 如何壮烈,请看此处分解:https//tieba.baidu.com/p/2335350672?pn=1 想当年,临近拉萨,很多人在说要去尼泊尔,什么滑翔伞,什么博卡拉,住宿怎么怎么便宜,证怎么怎么简单……只说得在下心驰神往,颠倒阴阳~~~遂想起某裆刚不久前昭告天下天朝某48个城市可就地办理护照!皇恩浩荡~ 我等何其幸运,竟是如此简单便能云游天下,想当年,我都是直着双眼流着哈喇子在新华书店的旅游杂志上一次次遨游天下,吾皇万岁万岁万万岁!激动流涕中… 立马查询之,当时阿拉已基本会用智能手机啦!查询结果是,48个城市唯独没有拉萨!!!确定两眼没看花~于是我遥望雪山,升级了那句话~雪山的那边是什么?所谓的尼泊尔,近在眼前,却被几张纸~隔断天涯…皇恩,你就不能浩荡到底嘛?痛苦流涕中……当年八月归来:迎接另一个晨曦,带来全新空气气息改变情味不变,茶香飘满情谊我家大门常打开,开放怀抱等你拥抱过就有了默契,你会爱上这里不管远近都是客人请不用客气安得蜗居一小间,大僻天下旅友尽欢颜,我携12平方蜗居光荣加入沙发客大家庭!时值旅行后遗症病入膏肓,每日茶饭不思,精神不振,全身乏力!拖着病体,时刻念着:人人为我,我为人人!与人方便,与自己方便!在公园2013年的最后三个月,完成近十次接待,其中两次接待巾帼女侠,收得三次论坛留名感谢,无一次不欢,功德圆满!我给自己定下目,两年之内,我一定要再次旅行,而且要出国旅行!事实上,我知道,我未必能够撑到两年,旅行后遗症严重到何种程度,几个能明白!但是,我必须等这么长时间,为什么?现实,说白了,就是钱!再怎么高大上的神物,也得向五斗米折腰!食为天,是最真的真理! 我要多少钱?要满足三个月以上的旅行,10K+实现自己一直以来的一个心愿:接爸妈坐飞机来大城市玩半个月~预算13K给自己治病,13K+给家里的开销,妹妹要上高中了,开销要增加~10K+总不能回家就接不上火吧,何况还有负担!储备10K+还有装备……还有……………西藏回来上了三个多月班,回家过了个年,卡上剩下3K+我必须得有五万才合理,不是够,是合理!五万,我的妈呀,两年存五万,存三万就感天动地了!而且我肯定撑不住两年,最理想是2015年年初就出发,最多延迟三个月,最多!那么砍掉一些吧,存到三万就出发,旅行预算一万雷打不动,剩下的陈芝麻烂谷子怎么将就怎么将就吧!可是在一年零三个月里,要存三万块也是个好庞大的数字啊!就目前的条件明年最理想的收入状态也不会超过4300一个月,每个月基本开销就得一千多,年底回趟家就得八千至少,而且我根本没把握找到4300一个月的工作!唯一能够实现计划的可能性就是:上工地!不敢想网上传的300块一天,170一天我就非常非常满足了,这个数字绝对能够在15个月存到三万!可是,可是上工地我都没门没路啊………古人为活命逼上梁山,今我为梦想逼进工地!没工地让我往里面逼! 这是我2014年的写照!我很高兴的说,这是我迄今为止最好的一年,最走运的一年!!!好到什么程度,好到我半年就存了三万,好到一年就存了5.6万,好到我想用剩下的三个月去改变计划,去买一台15K的单反!但是,最终我没买单反,因为我连15个月都坚持不住了!因为我认识的好多人,早已经又回到路上了! 回家一趟花7K+买装备花了近5K再除掉一些杂七杂八,现在还剩40几K,头痛的是耳朵最终没整好,医生说不能随便动dao,很可能情况更糟!不但原来耳朵没治好,另一只耳朵又前不久开始出毛病,操~按照原来的预算计划,钞票还是不够,只不过操蛋的耳朵没法治,于是有了一部分钱周转!管不了那么多了,不去会死!真的会死……我就这么一辈子,就活这么一次!我28了!我能力有限收入不高!我现在有能力有勇气去实现我的梦想我再不抓紧时间待合适???!!!此刻,杭州西子湖,满觉珑黑甜青旅宁静清新的小院里,我心随鸟儿一起歌唱……享受此刻的新鲜空气是多么的不容易!回望这一年,只有苦没有甜!全靠一个梦想散发的希望坚持着!年初,在杭州找了好几天工作没弄合适,大工厂工资低得无耻~ 小作坊老板还在老家串门~ 急着赚钱,出来太早了!最终妥协:无宿120一天中午吃一餐还得扣5块钱,还得强制性休四天,对比之前3600的月工资,算起来还降了好几百,人家还包吃一顿呢!尼玛还让不让人活啊?还想追梦呢!干了11天,后来结工资这家伙居然向我恳求:小朱啊,你看能不能给你按110一天算啊,你就干了这么久!尼玛这家伙当初跟我说三天试用期后合格就留用马上涨工价!干了11天,开始转运了,同事给介绍了同厂另一个包工头,我如愿以偿上工地了 终于上工地了,打包到浙江缙云,干了将近五个月,修铁路,脚手架搭上18层,半边用3mm细铁丝拉着,那个晃啊,心脏动不动就想出逃!7月份,下午4点半,太阳底下还有42.3℃,我们晒得衣服上面画地图!后来在山西,国庆节山帽子上就铺雪了,刮不完的寒风,鼻涕拉着长线四处乱飞!我们都在干活,计件工资啊!八月终于被忽悠到山西平鲁,那边大工程,半年都干不完,那边在桥面上工作,那边矮,只有十几米!大家都小心翼翼,怕得罪老板,去不了山西!尼玛,结果呢,50好几米啊,是在桥面上干,不过是桥面最边上桥弦子上,干了两个月多点干完了!最要命的是包工头把我们骗过去后露出本来面目,对大家各种刻薄,各种占便宜,连我们之前捡废品的钱都贪了,说是跟大伙一起吃了好多次饭,算请客了,我们倒过来欠了人家人情!尼玛太恶心人了……大家背地里都称它为:披着人皮的渣! 这还不是最恶心人的,包工头喜欢每个人拖欠个千二八百的,虽然他说得最多的就是他从来不拖欠工资!山西干完,我琢磨着它肯定会旧病复发,便提前几天给他注射疫苗!它是个敏感种子,容易被受伤,所以我用不着再带着汽油去泼得满屋子都是~!结果被我那么一激,他很可爱的结清了所有工资,还破天荒的多算了两百来块!于是我高高兴兴的回老家办身份证去了,尼玛这一回去就磨蹭了整整一个月,一个月啊!我实在撑不住了,然后也有点不放心,便回杭州了,回到杭州,这人渣居然不要我了,操~我被放鸽子了,我被浪费了20几天时间,20几天,好几千块钱啊!我是一直担心山西那事得罪了它,但没猜到它会用这种方式来对付我!他还一直担心我不给他做呢!人渣啊本来一直想,今年润一个月,我可以多存好几千块的,结果存了一肚子气!年底真的很美好,我结识了一个品格高大上的老板,去了温州干了一个月然后去椒江干了一个月然后又回温州干了一礼拜!这次我们记工工资,9个小时工作制!刚开始一天200,后来承蒙老板厚爱,工资涨到220一天,而且我们是另外补贴每天20块钱生活费的!这两个多月是很理想的,相比之前,我工资实际上增加了,而且压力没计件的时候那么大了,我再也不用担心被某颗老鼠屎拖后腿,之前在缙云,我们曾经一连四天累死累活一分钱没得到,当时大伙都快疯掉了! 这一年,身为车友的我只骑了一次车,还是被气的半死状态下赌气罢工去骑的!我跟我的那些同事们一样,每天吃了睡,睡醒了干活,区别在于他们的娱乐是赌博看抗战神剧,我的娱乐是在网上给自己打气!区别在于他们除了生存没有多余的思想,如同没有CPU的老式柴油机!而我这个马力偏小的柴油机有个运行不正常的芯片,他们称之为~傻逼想法~!如今,我终于再次出发了,我没能强大到能够对世俗的眼光视而不见,但是我足够强大到突破自己的勇气去展现行动我所追求的,其实不是令人陶醉的美景,也不是叫人惊奇的异乡文化,更不是某种证明…… 为了一次旅行,我那么辛苦,我忍受那么多的偏见,其实只是为了心中的那个结,山的那边是什么?小时候,我在心中幻想!学会电脑后,我在谷歌地球上探索!现在,我能够用双脚带着眼睛去看,那么我就去看!如果硬要说路上最值得的,就是可以感受更多的纯粹,纯粹!~就像此刻青旅的祥和,就像大家再怎么样都要回家过年……在这个钢筋水泥荒漠里,你能想象你站在马路边伸手拦顺风车是什么情景吗?你租房子跟你的邻居半年来每天照面,你们有多少会“嗨”一声?但是我们能,我们在路上每天都能!我们可以见第一面就如同多年老友,我们可以不用任何思考就给予对方帮助! 2015.2.7出发,开销134,含交通134!2.8,开销189,含装备25!2.9,开销222.10,开销316,日用品!含损失152~操!2.11,开销81去银行折腾了大半个下午,终于将一些乱七八糟的卡都给销掉了,然后把钞票都转到了别处,万一我要是挂在路上了,可不能好事了银行!不禁想到去年在川藏线上,好多人行囊底部压着遗书!追梦有风险,出发需谨慎! 7号,我终于得以出发!没有上一次那种感慨和澎湃的激动,心情很平静,虽然为这一天我已经一天一天的数了五百多天,这种状态使我感到很意外!没打到摩的,我背着高高的登山包徒步去温州南站,一路回头率很高,路口碰到一摩的,朝我点头一笑:旅行啊!回之一笑点点头,他没说旅游,似乎有那么点感觉了! 花了129坐动车去杭州,对于我来说,这个价格不便宜,K车五十多的价格我感觉才是理想的,那个的时间要两倍还多,但这个无所谓的!我也不知道为什么我会去选择动车,西藏回来,我真的变了好多! 到杭州之后,去了朋友家,半年没聚会了!对于不善于交往的我来说,朋友何其珍贵…… 晚上三人聚餐,我放得很开,实在是高兴!我们三个,现在一个是酒店大经理,一个是高级技术员,一个不伦不类无法定位,还能够在街头小店里张牙舞爪唾沫横飞,是难得的! 结果聚餐后半段我就没任何记忆了……8号留在朋友家,朋友陪着去迪卡侬买装备,最后就买了个小挂件,脑子里一盘散沙,没法买!放假了,绷紧的神经松懈了,注意力没法集中!去电影院看了霍比特3,3D动态确有可点之处,要是清晰度跟电脑齐平该是很壮观的!这是我第一次进影院看电影,43块的价格实在是诱惑力太大,印象中都是180以上的9号下午去了沙友家里,朋友这里住得舒服,沙友那不能失信!沙友在滨江,朋友住五常,我路边取了辆单车往地铁站骑,背着庞大的登山包完全骑过去是没那个勇气的,路上好几段上坡,登山包死命把人往后拽,拼命的踩,满头大汗,也不觉得冷了!再怎么样,比坐车舒服多了,七号那天从东站坐到五常,可能晕车药吃晚了点,忍到最后,下车了又浪费粮食了!晕车!将是此次旅行最大的挑战,不想去坐火车,这样就少了旅行的味道,纯徒,是绝对不现实的,最起码自己的心理素质没准备好!路过三夫店,看装备,店里妹子给称了一下包,44斤!说真的,吓到我了,我想的是控制在35斤!包里还有很多东西可以扔掉,但也还得添加很多东西,不知道最终重量能否减一些下来!真正意义上讲这是我第一次做沙发客!从一开始就是自己操作~ 沙主兴哥极其热情,待人上佳!因为临时变动要同时接待两个沙发客,床位不够,为了让我们都住的舒适,兴哥临时从出差的同事那里借了一个房间给我住,我受宠若惊!在这里真诚感谢兴哥的接待,期望将来能够回报兴哥!住了两个晚上,临时变动,无法继续!联系了之前约好的其他沙主,情况不允许接待!我思考再三,决定不再联系剩下的沙主,也不回朋友家那去,破费一点,我去青旅住!我实在太想念青旅了,虽然又得一笔不小的开销,但青旅那种氛围的诱惑力难以抵抗……如果不是要省钱,青旅绝对是比沙发客更好的选择,那里随意,浪漫,有强烈的归宿感!相比之下,睡沙发客需要顾虑的实在太多太多,从一开始的接触到后来自己去接待到现在自己以空降的方式求沙发,我一直很努力,也一直很顺利,没有遇到弄得不开心的,完全可以说非常成功!但是,我仍然五味陈杂,我更愿意去付出,去接待人家,自己旅行的时候,我还是觉得青旅是最好的! 得益于日新月异的信息发展,我很快就知道了杭州青旅聚集地,记得去年上路,我还在学着用智能机,一路上好不狼狈!问了两家,找到个床位价29的,迫不及待就赶过去了!我超喜欢这种多人混住间,最好整个房间都住满,那样就可以跟五湖四海的旅行者打交道,大家一起分享自己的经历和各种信息,太开心了~我这次的房间是八人间,卫生设施美好,房间很新,进房间一会儿,老板娘抱过来床单被套枕套叫自个儿装上,瞬间感觉亲切,那感觉如同去年去西藏在波尔院子里,波尔只卖装备,都自己动手装,不会的自己想办法,这个都搞不定路上怎么办!。唯一不好的就是只住了四个人,其中一个来做义工的大学生,两个旅游的,不过还是聊得很开心!今天终于去买了防潮垫,买了鸡蛋盒,价格美好,加上昨天买的碗筷盘子,吃的住的都齐了!明天沙友就回来了,将再次挪窝至滨江做沙发客,大后天,也就是16号,向枸杞岛进发,又要花钱,关键是又要坐汽车,啊…… ([]
我是一个中国援外医疗队的普通医生,爱好旅行,现在在西非几内亚工作。我把自己的所见所闻和生活体验记录了下来,希望告诉大家真实的非洲风土人情和中国医生在海外的生存状态。<br /><br /> 所有的文字和照片都发在www.12walkers.com 的《淫在非洲》专版里了,现在写了20万字,有1600多张照片,现在已经有超过10万人次的浏览,欢迎爱好生活的朋友加入我们的行列。“照片太少了......建议楼主多发PP ”<br /><br />cola,你是不是看错帖子了?1800张照片不应该算少呀。<br /> 诸位,在这里只是一个宣传,我在非洲的网速实在太慢了,不能在每个网站里都发图片,只要你们自己登陆www.12walkers.com 这个户外网站的《淫在非洲》专版,就可以看到所有的文字和1800张照片。<br /> 我现在还在非洲,还有一年多回国,我会把随笔和照片一直发下去的。非洲是一片神秘、美丽、充满苦难的地方。。。。。。。。谢谢龙井!!<br />端午节我去参观了非洲现代艺术展。其他的展品照片和艺术家的介绍都发在《淫在非洲》的第六部分里了,赶兴趣的朋友可以去www.12walkers.com 里的专版去看看。为了打发时间,也是丰富自己的历史知识,我在淫在非洲里增加了历史上的今天这个项目,每天学习一点,内容已经从第六部分开始了。6月20日是世界难民日,今年的难民日的主是:勇气。<br /><br /> “面对砍刀的攻击,逃离,光脚穿过乱石的戈壁,靠着昆虫和树根生存,直到找到帮助、饮水和保护。现在,家就是一顶帐篷,每天一点干粮,和无法遏制的希望。”——难民的生存与家园的重建,需要非凡的勇气!<br />我也很喜欢那幅画,是一位在西非很活跃的白人女画家创作的,非洲的传统文化和现代艺术都非常吸引我。非洲的雨季开始了,我们这里接连几天都是大雨不断,院子里快变成游泳池了。今天是医疗队离开祖国整11个月的日子,有4位同志今天起程回国探亲。这就是让我们所有男同事嫉妒得大口吐血的照片!内幕消息在www.12walkers.com 《淫在非洲》第7部分里。<br />自己对着镜子理了一个秃瓢,清爽!第一次留胡子,咱也装一回老男人。跳得过瘾,哥儿几个在旁边敲得也十分卖力。鼓边钉的铁片上挂着很多小铁环,随着鼓的震动发出清脆的响声。黑人妇女的头发又短又硬,枝枝杈杈象乱草一样,必须仔细地和假发缠在一起才能编出漂亮的辫子来。<br /> 编辫子的时候必须使劲拉紧每一根头发,再和假发缠紧,这样编出的发型才会结实有型,可以维持一个月以上。但是据说头皮会非常疼,甚至疼得睡不着觉,而且一个多月不能拆开洗头,头皮还会很瘙痒难忍。看来想要漂亮点儿还真不容易!<br />还是先前收过我钱的那位司仪比较好心,她看见我着急,就拨开跳舞的妇人们,把新娘子拉了出来......我当时就觉得眼前一亮!真是个美人呀!<br /><br />。。。。。。。具体文字和照片请看www.12walkers.com 《淫在非洲》连载第八部分。新的照片和文字一直在不断更新,都在www.12walkers.com的《淫在非洲》专版里呢,这里只是一点点节选。几内亚人晒衣服的传统,就是趁出太阳的时候把衣服、床单洗完后都摆在地上晒,在他们的想法中认为地面是干净的,其实土地中有很多寄生虫的虫卵,一些虫卵可以通过衣服钻入人体皮肤里,这或许也是这里皮肤病流行的一个原因。奔忙在城市与乡村的小公共,车后面挂上三、五个人是稀松平常的事情。医疗队已经在非洲生活了一年零两个月,我也已经写了30完字的随笔,拍摄了1万多张照片,并且挑选了3000多张在网站发表。<br /><br />全部的文字和照片都在www.12walkers.com 《淫在非洲》专版,欢迎对非洲感兴趣的朋友来看看。从首都通往杜布里卡的公路修得很不错,有的路段两边居然还有护栏。这在几内亚已经是最高档次的公路了。哈哈,感谢众位斑竹和兄弟们的抬爱,不是我抠门,只是我这边上网的条件太烂了,照片已经改的很小了,还是发得很慢,经常要熬到深夜,实在无力在各个网站上都发表全部照片,呵呵,只能委屈大家去www.12walkers.com 的《淫在非洲》专版里看全部的照片了,不过我会尽量挑一些照片发过来,和更多的朋友分享。<br /><br /> 其实除了照片之外,我更多的心情和感受是通过文字表达的,这些只有在《淫在非洲》的专版中才能看到了,呵呵,卖个关子。<br /><br /> 感谢所有新老朋友的支持和鼓励!<br />路边有几个孩子提着不知名的水果在叫卖,我们的司机向他们问路,从这个路口向里拐,就是瀑布了。终于来到了瀑布近前,首先看到了两位美女!奔腾咆哮的瀑布更加衬托出美女的娇柔,正所谓:天人合一!这两漂亮姑娘穿着比基尼在瀑布下戏水,顿时吸引了所有兄弟们的眼球,他们纷纷举起长枪短炮向姑娘们致敬,我在50米开外,顾不得擦流出来的鼻血,赶紧掏出200mm的长焦头狂摄了几张。<br />这一对儿柔情蜜意的,做什么亲昵动作都不避讳大家,也知不道他俩是啥关系,不过我很喜欢这种肤色的对比组合:牛奶+巧克力。<br /><br />估计小胖看见他俩那天的亲昵举动,就不光是流口水了,肯定要喷鼻血了!这是在餐厅鱼缸里养的,看着象小鳄鱼,但比鳄鱼小多了,可能也是爬行动物,谁知道它的名字?肯定不是鳄鱼,比它小多了,也就20厘米长,我不知道它的名字。哈哈,这禽流感确实搞得人不安宁,据说非洲就是下一个重灾区呢,所以要先抓紧吃!黎巴嫩小帅哥,在炎热的非洲,有个地方能经常来戏水,太爽了。([]
临出发前2天,零红蝶独自前往温宿破城子煤矿探了一趟路,回来后做出了反穿夏特古道的决定。当我们一行18人在乌鲁木齐南郊客运站乘坐开往阿克苏的大巴时,他还用炫耀的口气得意洋洋地说:我们要从南疆走到北疆!从荒漠走到美丽的草原!越走越美! 牛人就是牛人! 当我们经过一夜加半个上午的长途颠簸,终于站在托木尔峰缓冲带博孜墩边境管理区等候边检登记检查时,才突然想起从乌鲁木齐随车携带的气罐落在了客车上!此时我们与营运客车的距离已经近百公里。一阵忙乱联络安排,待再上路时,已经比预计的时间晚了约3个小时。至旧金矿破房子后,下车、分装气罐、整理背包,开始徒步上路。于漫天浮尘中约行进6、7公里,天色渐晚,择地扎营。 曾经看过王铁男先生的 《魂断夏特古道》,痛失好友的泣血经历使人对夏特充满恐惧,但是神秘的冰川又总是让人欲罢不能。 关于夏特古道: 夏特,清称沙图阿满台,位于昭苏西南部的汗腾格里山下,是伊犁至阿克苏的交通驿站。夏特古道北起伊犁昭苏夏塔牧场,南至阿克苏温宿破城子,沟通天山南北,全长120公里,是丝绸之路上最为险峻的一条沟通南北疆的著名古隘道。 夏特古道承载着太多太厚重的历史,有过太多太炫目的辉煌。2000年前秦汉的和亲公主从这里远托异国;1300年前唐玄奘从这里翻越3500米的哈达木孜达坂,到达天山南麓的龟兹佛国。上个世纪初期,芬兰的探险家马达汉,由阿克苏出发经夏特古道回国,1944年~1946年他担任了芬兰共和国总统。不知在成为总统后,马达汉是否曾经在梦里重走夏特··· 夏特,木扎尔特冰川携带着万古的悠远,散发着神秘的光芒。能在无边苍穹下的冰川上安身,绝对是上帝的独特恩宠。反穿夏特古道,我们将从破城子进山,夏塔牧场出山,从荒漠走向丰美的草原。 被遗弃是荒凉的。但是,荒凉,有时也是一种美;静默无言,或许是生命的另一种倾诉。每次长线重装的过程,恰如一次脱胎换骨。凤凰涅槃,浴火重生,须得一段痛苦煎熬!这,也是一种生命的倾诉! 次日晨9点准时拔营。行前晨会,领队告诉我们当日需要行进20公里,主要沿木扎尔特河主流,一路朔北而上。 因为头天的延误,今天一开始的步伐很赶。沙尘天气让行走很不舒服,每个人都不得不捂着。在隐约看到同行的另外的队伍背影后,零红蝶骄傲地吼着“我们要追上他们了,我们要超过他们.......” 我们的队伍比较整齐,强驴辈出,相形之下我只能算是弱者,果然不久就见了分晓。渐渐地,我的背负感到了沉重。在一次次爬坡之后,一种不好的感觉逐渐笼罩:先是眼睛发花看不清路,接着腿脚也开始有些不听使唤地乱拧起来,我落在了后面。调整、调整,我嘱咐着自己,但是却没有多大改观。我坚持着大口呼吸调整着,竭力不让自己拉得太远。就在这时,心脏的紧刺感袭来,疼痛、呕吐感、呼吸急促,以及眼前发黑同时出现了...... 我出状况了! 从未有过的恐惧和绝望...... 停下,咽下水和急备药丸,我继续调整着,瘫软却逐渐弥漫到了全身。我坚持着靠近了收队夏天,告诉他:我恐怕走不出去了。 夏天扶我斜靠在一处土坡上,喝水、喘息、调整,状况有所减轻。领队派来了不离不弃,背走了我的大包,前队也在高坡上倒伏的铁架处休息等着我。不能拖累队伍的决心让我在稍微缓解后要求继续前行,但是只走了百余米后,一阵恍惚,依稀望见夏天在我前面右侧,伸出手去抓住了他的胳膊,身体便滑落倒下去了...... 似乎就像睡了一觉,再醒来时看见我的周围:双鱼、三儿、好人、夏天等都在,当然,还有领队零红蝶! 零红蝶告诉了我他们的决定:让不离不弃陪着我下撤。 泪水、鼻涕,伴着发自心底的绝望不可收拾!难受的感觉,颤抖的身体,这样的干滩上如何下撤?对陪我下撤的人来说,风险岂不更大?自己做了长时间的准备,只为冰川之旅,下撤??? 泪奔中我拼命调整自己,告诉他们我能行,我能调整过来的!好像还流着泪请领队帮我实现自己的愿望,请求在前队休息的地方路餐休息后看状态再决定撤还是不撤...... 最后的结果是,在双鱼和三儿两人一左一右的架扶下,在夏天随后几步一歇的节奏控制下,我就像太后出巡一般地,一步步爬上了高坡,站在了山顶的铁架旁。休息、调整、慢行,我的状态逐渐在恢复...... 似这样熬到晚上8点左右,终于到了冰川下面的营地,骤雨来袭。不离不弃已经提前为我们扎好了帐篷,还送来了烧好的热牛奶。放倒在帐中,昏昏沉沉地睡去,我需要好好歇歇,备战明天更难更严峻的翻越达坂。 今天,没有后撤就是最大的成功! 3日早晨拔营后,一直处于万劫不复的冰川延伸带的爬升中。为了照顾我,之前领队安排好人背走了我的相机,飞翔、三儿、牧民大哥、双鱼等分走了我包中的食物。在夏天、好人、双鱼、不弃和三儿等协作的先后分别陪伴护佑下,我踏上了翻越冰川达坂之路。从上路开始便一直不停地走,告诫自己绝不能停,不能拖累大家...... 因为地质运动及气候等原因,夏特冰川在以令人惊异的速度退去。碎石、泥雪、石粉布满的前路,不久就令人崩溃!能够让人提起精神的,是连绵的冰川带给我们的惊喜。原来的古道多经地质变迁无法通行,能够找到古道遗存是非常不易的,多半都需要领队先行探路确认后才能通过。 继续...... 直到中午三点多,才在冰川上海拔2900多米处找到有水源的午间营地。坐下来休整,才觉得右腿膝盖下的疼痛,卷起裤腿,一处硬币大的伤口还在渗血,那是前面在行走时不慎踩翻了一处松动的石块造成的!得!祸不单行! 当天后半段的路途多是沿渐渐融化的冰川体斜切。穿行于冰川之中,万古岁月消融,冰川也在消融,时不时会传来冰川融化断裂的轰鸣巨响,令人胆寒。当晚,扎营在一处约5、6米高的冰壁前,营地海拔3200多米。 继续渡劫之旅...... 万古的冰川,也经不起岁月的流逝。在零零碎碎的时光中,无可奈何地沉寂、消融、坍塌、奔泻。一直以为自己很坚强,面对隆隆作化的冰川,却不得不正视残酷,与万古相比,我们的生命是那么的脆弱、那么的微不足道!莽莽天地间,我们究竟该如何安放自己的灵魂? 4日晨9:30时启程,再向上攀高300米海拔,到达木扎尔特冰川达坂顶部。木扎尔特达坂海拔3582米,也是南天山南北水系的分水岭,北为昭苏夏特河源头的冰川,南为阿克苏拜城木扎尔特河源头。木扎尔特达坂东西两侧均为海拔5000—5400米的山峰,常年银装素裹。站在这里,极目远眺,云天激荡,山势傲伟,冰川雄厚,那种壮阔之美,令你浑身的疲惫顷刻灰飞烟灭...... 夏特之精华,此刻尽在我们眼前!最难的路,我们已经走过来了! 下达坂的雪野中,积雪很厚很厚,很多地方都没过了大腿。领队在前面趟路,我们在后面随行,行路艰难。特别是几次涉过寒彻肌骨的冰水后,漫长的前路和刺骨的冰水几乎耗尽了我们的全部体能。“前方1.5公里是今天的营地”,领队说。但是这最后的1.5公里却走的太久、太难,也许是我们体能到了极限,也许是领队开路也累勺了以致预计有误,(我更愿意相信是后者,零红蝶真给累勺了!)过桥后,好不容易熬到了所谓的五星营地,所有人都不愿再动了。但是营地虽好,营地旁的一条小溪却干涸了!没有水源的营地怎么能是五星级营地?几个协作又不得不跑很远的地方取水...... 尽管不远处浑浊的冰川河水在咆哮着向下奔流...... 寒彻肌骨的冰水现在回想起来都如同噩梦...... 没有水源的营地怎么能称五星? 5日,我们穿行在雪莲峰护佑下的夏塔牧场。神秘而美丽的雪莲峰一直目送着我们,无数次回望,无数次感恩,无数次欢笑,似乎所有的艰辛与苦难都已经淡忘。但是,我知道,这一路,我真是来渡劫了!在过夏塔牧场中一条窄窄的小溪时,我又一次踩翻了石块...... 后记: 有一种缘分,叫上天注定;有一种相遇,叫神的安排。 去夏特之前,拜读过王铁男老师的《魂断夏特古道》,对夏特之险有所了解,对能让新疆户外前辈翻船的木扎尔特河心存敬畏。回来后才知道,我出状况不远处的河道,正是当年董务新前辈遇难的地方。那个有铁架的高坡上,正是董务新前辈的衣冠冢。当领队和协作们全部冲下坡去急救我时,队里的南山牧民大哥一直在围着那几个玛尼堆念念叨叨...... 这难道真是上天给我的安排...... 我:夏天,我可能走不出去了! 夏:不会的!记得博格达吗?跟着我,我会带你走出去的...... 这是我开始出状况时跟夏天的对话,我清醒的记着。当年的博格达,我正是踩着夏天的脚步,一步步登上了碎石达坂。但是眼下,我却走不动了! 我不知道后来当我抓着夏天的胳膊倒下去的时候,夏天的心情和举动。平素里夏天是个沉稳的人,好人说正是因为沉稳的夏天发出了“会急救的赶紧下来”的呼声,他们才觉得事情严重,四五个人迅速地赶到了我的身边...... 在路上我曾经想过,夏特之行也许是我最后一次行走了,也许这次就走不出去了。感谢上天垂爱,我不仅平安走出,还结识了一帮生死弟兄! 兄弟们,有你们,真棒! 艰难的路...... 万古冰川消融...... 美丽的雪莲峰目送着我们....... 丰腴的夏塔牧场包容着我们...... 平安夏特,我们感恩天与地!永志涅槃之旅......看到零队的夏特计划,咋又动心了呢?!(
写下这个我就感觉有点矫情,咱一个平民百姓,既不是李白更不是乾隆皇帝,用这样的的口气似乎有点不知天高地厚,但于我来说,这四月清明来扬州,除了这句话外,一时还真没想起其他合适,于是就斗胆借用一次,反正现在李白、皇帝也都不在了,随他去吧。 清明小长假,影友们都去皖南“发春”了,我不想再走一次重复的路线,于是就想着“另辟蹊径”,去哪儿呢?三天时间也只能在周边走走,于是想到了去兴化看垛田油菜花,但从兴化影友那里得知今年春来迟,清明期间油菜花还没冒影子呢,只得再改线路,于是乎,扬州这备选线路就被列入了计划。做好决定后立刻上网买了往返火车票,扬州,我来了! “故人西辞黄鹤楼, 烟花三月下扬州。 孤帆远影碧空尽, 唯见长江天际流。” 俺就把李白的这首诗,权当做是送俺的吧。嘻嘻~~~ 4月1—2日 晚上1155的车,为了赶最晚一班公交车(俺们徐州除了1路公交外,最晚的公交车是晚上1030),1030就到了车站,反正带了书,就坐在候车室里看《藏地孤旅》,火车晚点,候车的人内心烦躁,唏嘘不已,我反倒不着急,晚点就晚点,看书呗。1220,列车进站了,候车的旅客蜂拥而入,检票员根本没法检票,我有卧铺票,自然不着急,顺顺当当的上了车。这趟车的列车员很是勤快,每到一站就在车厢里吆喝着到哪个哪个站了,我就奇怪了,卧铺车都是换了牌的,半夜三更的,谁下车你叫谁不就得了,你这一吆喝,全车厢的人都醒了,经她这么一折腾,这一夜我几乎没睡成觉,真是郁闷。 清晨730,火车到站了,出站便联系表弟,他已帮我订好了住处,按照表弟短信的“指引”很快就到了宾馆,放下行李换了行装便开始了我的扬州之旅。扬州火车站我是第一次到,知道这是一个新建启用不久的车站,没想到有那么新,真和徐州高铁站有得一拼,除了火车和公交车,什么车都没有,附近连个便利店都没有,我下车想买张地图都没地儿买,要不是表弟事先帮我预定好宾馆,下车后找住处都够我折腾半天的。 只有两趟公交车的扬州火车站广场 下了火车乘坐26路公交车进市区,一路过来全是风光带,城市绿地搞的很漂亮,一看就是新区,人气不旺,市容不错,也很整洁,就俩字:干净。这和扬州人的固有生活习惯应该有关,老扬州人不是有“早上皮包水,晚上水包皮”一说嘛,这干净还真是扬州人的一大特点。 26路坐到文昌阁,打车到了表弟帮我订的中江嘉和苑里的嘉庆宾馆,这里交通很方便,到了宾馆放下行李坐5路公交车直奔瘦西湖。 瘦西湖02年单位5.1组织活动时我到过一次,那次是雨中匆匆行游瘦西湖,已经十年过去了,这次再游,发现瘦西湖已远不是一个小小的湖了,而变成了瘦西湖风景区。扬州这十年的变化也是惊人的,瘦西湖虽然“瘦”,但有李白和乾隆皇帝“撑腰”,来此的游人数量也多了N倍,特别是清明小长假期间,整个园里都是人,用接踵而至已经不能形容游人之多了,“烟花三月下扬州,游人蜂拥挤断桥”,是这次瘦西湖游览的真实写照。 既来之,则玩之。你挤你的,我玩我的,心态不能受影响,人实在太多我就不拍照了,坐湖边自己看景,发呆,调整自己心态,不跟旅行团屁股走,尽量躲开人群多的地方,景区里的背景音乐成了我舒缓情绪的“良方”,耳朵里听着音乐,眼中不去看人,心情随着风景走,也还算没完全被败坏掉心情。 从瘦西湖东门进来后,沿湖先往南走,湖边白玉兰和连翘盛开,白色和黄色,桃花也在开放中,但湖边更多的是棠梨花和垂柳,花红柳绿连翘黄,配上那幽静的湖水,还是很美滴。瘦西湖东门 万花园 一.百花争春 。。。。。。。。 。。。。。。。。 。。。。。。。。。 。。。。。。。。。 这次游览瘦西湖没跟着导游蹭听,完全自己瞎转,也不去管那些所谓的景点故事了,只按照人少的原则随意的转悠,只赏景不听讲了。其实瘦西湖那些个故事听与不听对我来说不重要,我欣赏的是那美景而不是乾隆喜欢哪里不喜欢哪里,我想找的是我的感觉,与他老人家无关。走累了就随意找个地方坐坐,中间在景区游客中心看到几个卖陶笛的年轻人,边卖边吹奏,那独特的音色吸引了我,干脆找个椅子坐下来闭目倾听,这种“享受”已经很久没有了,能在风景优美的瘦西湖边听到这样美妙的乐曲,真是惬意。姐游的不是景点,是心境。“两堤花柳全依水,一路楼台直到山”。二.湖光泛影 。。。。。。。。。 瘦西湖风景片暂告一段落,下午去临沂拍约稿片片,等俺周一回来再继续扬州行~~~XDJM们,特此告假~~~瘦西湖景区里不仅有美丽的湖光山色,还有秀美的古典园林,这也是观赏瘦西湖风景的内容之一。三.清幽园林 这是瘦西湖景区里最高峰顶上的风亭,春风吹来,亭角的风铃叮咚作响,美妙动听。 小金山,瘦西湖最著名园林景观。小金山又称长春岭,位于瘦西湖狭长河道的顶点上,由历代挖湖后的泥堆积成岭,登高极目,全湖景色尽收眼底。文人雅士看中此地,构堂叠石代有增添,至清代成为瘦西湖最引人处。有“湖上蓬莱”之称。近人巧取瘦西之“瘦”,小金山之“小”,点明扬州园林之妙在于巧“借”:借得西湖一角,堪夸其瘦;移来金山半点,何惜乎小。岭上为风亭,连同岭下的琴室、月观,近处的吹台,远景近收,近景烘托,把整个瘦西湖景区装扮的比“借”用的原景多了许多妩媚之气。门口伫立的两个笑狮是很罕见的。为求喜气,来此的游客都会摸上一摸。 借取西湖一角堪夸其瘦;移来金山半点何惜乎小。就为欣赏这陶笛的美妙之声,俺在那闭目静坐了一个小时。 著名的熙春台,现在是茶楼,进去另外购票。 二十四桥名联 静香书屋 转完湖边又沿着瘦西湖北边的新景区游览,这里有一个绝好的去处——盆景博物馆。虽说俺不懂园林和盆景艺术,但有此机会观赏一下还是有兴趣的。进入展厅,第一眼看到的是一幅巨型国画。这幅画我拍了5张,现接成3张与大家分享。 。。。。。。 。。。。。 瘦西湖里不仅有盆景博物馆还有年画展览,出游就是让人长见识,不去看还真不知中国的年画有这么多门类和风格。山东杨家埠年画四川绵竹年画。绵竹曾是地震灾区,印象里重建后的绵竹好像是按苏州江南风格建造的新城,不知是不是和苏州桃花坞有什么关联。 瘦西湖景区里除了有万花园,有湖光山色,有清幽园林,有盆景年画展外,还有一处特殊景观——法海寺。佛塔古刹法海寺,又名莲性寺,建于隋唐、重建于元代,有着1000多年的历史,是全省惟一的净律双修尼众道场。它与白塔、银杏构成了一个完整的旅游景点组合。 。。。。。。。([]
这次全家出行实在是够折腾的, 原计划台湾, 结果时间不允许. 改日本吧, 颇有点顶风作案的嫌疑! (不过本狼确实喜欢干些顶风的事情, 你懂的, 呵呵) 到了东京大家都知道啦, 俺有幸把一整套置办的装备昏头般的忘记在了上海东航一号航站楼登机口对面的书店了.主要是当时耍帅 挑书, 付钱, 拿找零, 拿书, 然后一步三摇般的步入机舱... 上了飞机还跟家人说 别忘了东西啊! There are many like-minded asking me about it. I now present this thread to briefly tell everybody about my journey.The starting point of this traverse was from the highest peak of the western part of the Tibetan plateau, Jieshan Daban, and the day was April 20, 2010.I was heading eastward passing Bungdag Co, Yanghu Co, Rola Co, and Kangzhagri Mountain, which crossed over the desolate region from west to east. The journey continued northward to enter the unpopulated area of Altun Mountains, through Hoh Xil Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Whale lake, ..., finally met some people by the Aqqikkol Hu and then arrived in Huatugou by vehicle three days later and that day was July 5. It had been 77 days in total. I had been all alone 74 days after leaving Jieshan Daban until arriving inAqqikkol Hu, which was about 1400km and about four months.[The Great Chang Tang] In Tibetan, "Chang Tang" means northern empty wilderness while narrowly, means unpopulated region in northern part of Tibet. However, it actually indiCATes all of the no man's land in northern. The great Chang Tang includes desolate places in Northern Tibet, Hoh Xil, Alun Mountains, and Kunlun Mountains, which are interconnected to form the unique and super empty wilderness in the world. Only because Hoh Xil is the most known name, most people just think this vast land is equivalent to Hoh Xil. In reality, Hoh Xil is only a small piece of the Great Chang Tang both administratively and geologically. The Great Chang Tang, the last land to chase your freedom and dream.The route that I traversed ForeplayI arrived in Tibet in the early March, a couple of troubles bothered me. The brand new plug got its positive and negative wrongly connected; the rivets of my rucksack eASIly got broken from now and again; and a multi-functional charger got damaged and so on. Riding my bike to Ngari for warming up of this journey, lost my rucksack but later got it back; lost my camera bag and got it back later again, and finally lost a big bicycle pannier in the street of Gyangze town under the eyes of police, including clothes, solar panel and so on.Without much choice, I returned to Lhasa to adjust all the stuff I would need in the wilderness. Then I begged some luck by going to Nyingchi to enjoy the blossoms of peach trees and to take a hot spring bath. I even had the privilege to enjoy time with ten girls in the hot spring. I felt my bad luck had all gone and then returned to Lhasa again to prepare going to Ngari. I did not expect that I was cheated on by some hustler and lost some money and delayed my schedule for a week. I had to find a car myself quickly to Nagri. However, I lost the tool for fast-parting my rear wheel on my way to Nagri, where was a remote area in Tibet and nowhere to buy the tool. Even if there was one in Lhasa it would take at least ten days for a special delivery service. I was lucky that my mate Duola asked a driver to bring the tool for me from Lhasa. I thought there should be no more nightmare like this but the nozzle of my brand new multi-fuel stove was broken. The next day I tried everywhere to weld them back together. The first three shops could not do the welding for copper. The fourth one said they could do it but could not guarantee a sUCCess. The engineer said it would be ten Chinese yuans if it was a success. I agreed. Just in seconds, my nozzle became crap in a flash of lightening. I was so upset. Again, Duola helped me by bringing her own MSR oil stove and Dingding's sleeping bag to Nagri. That was already April 16 and I did not have much time to waste. The following day I found a vehicle heading to Jieshan Daban.The sand storm over Yarlung Zangbo RiverA lonely peach tree blossoming in Yarlung Zangbo Grand CanyonNatural hot spring in wild, me singing and drinking (photo by a friend of mine) Day 1(April 20), 16km, Camping 5192mIt was a truck with a full load of iron wastes, arriving in Jieshan Daban at 6'o clock in the morning. It was still night and extremely cold and dark. Driver was not bothered to pop his head out of the driving cab. I climbed up on the top of the iron wastes, taking my bicycle down. In a hurry, I punched my old water bag. Fortunately I had another MSR water bag given by a friend of mine otherwise I would definitely fail without even starting my journey. For the first time for me to set up the brand new tent in strong, cold winds. It would be impossible to do so if the tent was not a whole piece. Extremely cold outside, about -15C, might be lower than that, I put my head into the sleeping bag but was nearly suffocated to death, honestly. The smell of Dingding's sleeping bag was, lol, so extraordinary. I woke up around 11 o'clock. There were still strong winds outside so that I had to use my bodyweight to keep the tent in place. At the time when I just started to cook and eat, four patrolling soldiers approached me. To their surprise someone, in this season, camped in Jieshan Daban. I was so nervous and afraid they were the people to block my journey because I was caught and deported from the desolate land last year. Luckily the four soldiers did not know my destination and were very kind to me. After they left, I immediately packed my stuff and pushed my bike into the depths of the unpopulated area just in case anything unexpected happened.The bike was very heavy due to the provisions and hard to control. There was even a quite small hill that I had to remove my bike panniers to get over it. This really struck me because this happened even the path was still the hardship one at the moment and I could not imagine what I would do once I entered the uncertain, endless wilderness. Until now I had not met anyone, even the nomadic pastoralists. I remembered there were quite a few of them roaming at the edge of the northern Tibetan plateau last year. All of these indicated it was not the good pasture season in such low temperature and strong winds. Around 16km there was a sheep cote, where I passed it last year, east of Lungmu Co. I was exhausted at this point so that I decided to camp in here and to rest my head. After arranging tent everything I went out to look for the wetland discovered by Duola and Liumeng last year. I was determined to find it.There were many hot springs in the wetland which were underground water with a constant temperature. The wetland therefore became an ideal habitat for some fishes and weeds under such harsh weather, which was the very unique land feature of terrain in this over 5200m highland.Perpetual snow in the valley blown to corn shape by strong windsThis wetland was discovered by Duola and Liumeng. The next day rather than continuing to travel, I stayed inside the sheep cote, hesitating and pondering over. Indeed, there were so many problems before this journey;I did not have sufficient physical preparation;the load had already reached its limitation; I still coughed a lot;the weather was so extreme and cold. All in all, I did not think this journey was well prepared and I did not have confidence in completing this journey mentally and physically. To do, or not to do, it was the question. Similarly I did not have confidence in my facilities, not knowing whether all of them would work functionally or not. The fact was one of the rivets got broken again and the front rack came loose. In the afternoon, I replaced all the rivets of the panniers with screws I had prepared before. This was an excellent job I had done which gave me no further troubles throughout my whole journey. I also re-adjusted the front rack. However I did not think it would definitely all right because I did not have a tool to do it. When the darkness descended,I made up my mind to continue my journey, which, of course, was not beyond any imagination. Orchid-like weedsSmall springs everywhere, clear and chillyA thin layer of ice covering the fresh spring water The sheep cote, it was the door under the sleeping bag, which was in the same place as last year, everything looked like yesterdayThe wetland at duskLungmu Co at dusk. You could hear the gigantic sound of wind if the picture had a sound Day 3 (April 22), 52.4km, Camping 5145mGot up in the morning, could not put everything into the bags. Without much choice I had to throw away three portions of tsampa, elbow pads, and crampons. Following the road of the lead-zinicmine I found the side path to enter the wilderness, which was on the riverbed and very hard to see. I missed this side path last year so that I had to take a short cut into the wilderness directly then. That was why I had taken extra care to find the side path. The following journey was to get over a big hill, which lay 5275m above sea level and was the highest point of my whole journey. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I passed the side path leading to Orba Co and started a journey which was complete strange to me. I ate a piece of pilot breads, which was frozen like rocks so that I had to use my spade to crush it. At 6 o'clock in the evening, I had pushed plus rode my bicycle for about 32 km. I reckoned I should have been able to double this if I did no carry such heavy load. The wind became stronger and stronger. I opened the parasail kits and tested it. The result was far beyond what I expected. With the aid of the strong wind I was just like flying over the wilderness. After 8 o'clock in the evening, I started to observe the water Source and to get ready to camp. Map showed there were successive springs along the path and assembled to puddles. But I had overestimated the water source here in this land and in this season there were endless wilderness inside the valley, where I could not see a single drop of water. As it became darker and darker, I felt a little bit nervous which resulted in three spokes of the parasail broken and became a useless rubbish. Anyway, it helped me to move forward 20km more which benefited me a lot later on. When time approached 9.30 pm, it was almost completely dark. I had to lie my bike on the ground and went on to try to find water on the north side of the valley. This was a wide and flat sandy land, where I could not see any ditches there and further was complete darkness. I returned to get my GPS to look up the contours and found the south part of the valley was closer to a hill so I took the way. Finally I found a piece of ice in a ditch. I smashed about 20litre of ice. The ice was quite shallow scattered with sheep poo. On my way back, my eyes were hurt by strong winds, which got me a couple of days to recover. It was nearly 23 o'clock after I set up the tent. It also took about 40 mins to melt the ice. I was so tired and my appetite was completely spoiled. I then had a little bit of milk. I had never expected thing would go like this, it was so distressing. Streams along the path, ice everywhereThe river flew into Matou Hu, in whose north part there was a satellite lake, a wonderful ice-skating court It took 40mins to melt the ice in midnight Day 4 (April 23), 31km, Camping 5028mA cloudy day with gusts. From now and again, hails chased me from behind. Sunny spell. Heavy sandy land made me have to push my bike. At 3pm, I arrived at Luxing Hu, where there was a house made of clay. This was the last permanent building of my journey. Last year, Duola and Liumeng once lived in this house for three days without meeting anybody. It seemed it was the same but the truck parking in front of the house made me worry about. I went to the sheep cote first to check over, where there were only a few lambs following me everywhere I went later on. This made me feel warm in my heart. I observed farther places using my binoculars but could not see any people or sheeps. After making sure there were no people around I opened the locked door using a screwdriver. The living room was very clean. There were two boxes of beverages on the ground and a string of cured lamb legs hanging over in the interior room. A pot of water was on the top of the stove, lukewarm, which indicated the host must be not far away from his home. I filled up my water bag and left the house. I also put the screws back to the door in order not to leave any trace of my visiting. I then took a spanner from the toolbox of the truck, which gave me great help for the rest of the journey.I left the house as quickly as possible. After last year's experience, the nomadic pastoralists were the last people I wanted to meet. A few hundred meters away from the house, the vehicle traces were fading fast. Even downhill, I had to push rather than to ride because of the heavy loose sand. From the route point of view, only after Luxing Hu it was the real unpopulated land. After many days, I thought of the lamb legs from time to time. It was pity that I then had plenty of provisions and the bike was too heavy to carry anything more. Continue to melt the ice under the morning sunshine, all of the sheep poo had been removed carefullyCamping site, the little hill over there was the place where I got the ice last nightThe house by the Luxing Hu, empty, the last permanent building I saw throughout my journeyDay 5 (April 24), 19.8km, Camping 4951mSet off at 10.30 in the morning, the weather was similar to yesterday. Probably this road was the high plain or somewhere the wind passed so that it was so windy. The average wind speed was degree 6 but could reach degree 9 in the blick of an eye. The road was still full of sand and very heavy to walk on it. My eyes became worse under such harsh weather. About three o'clock in the afternoon, I saw something in my right, looked like antenna. I went closer to see what it was and found out it was an iron tower (the triangulation station). In 1970s, a joint team from Chinese three military regiments entered this area doing research. They have left a lot of triangulation stations and benchmarks, which I had the priviledge to see them today.At dusk, I approached to a spring by the Bungdag Co, which flew into the frozon lake. The sand and soil, brought by the strong wind, scattered on the surface of the ice all over the lake. There were so many cracks around the icey surface of the lake. I geussed it must be caused by the springs under the water rather than by melted ice. In the west of the Bungdag Co was the side path leading to Keriya Pass, where a SUV could reach directly. I had looked out any vehicle Tracks but failed. The cloudy sky started to snow. I set up the tent comfortably because I knew that I was safe having such a sweet spring beside me.Triangulation station erected by scientists from the joint research team on Chang Tang of three military regiments in 1971[size=+0]The gap between water and ice in Bungdag Co, I guessed there must be some springs under the lakeThe storm just above the ground, a chaotic darkness[size=+0]Icy Bungdag Co,one of the four biggest lakes in Northern Tibet, wild ducks flying over this vastness and lonenessSnowing at any time, should not happen so frequently like this in this seasonDay 6 (April 25), 4.3km, Camping 5002mWeathering landforms everywhere around this area. Spongy volcanic rocks could be found easily. I pushed my bike turning around a small hill, seeing a big river, the Yinshui He, flowing from Orba Co into Bungdag Co, which I had been to its upstream last year. It was also a passage for animal migration. The downstream of the river was extremely wide and broad. The thickess of the ice layer could reach one meter with the main stem in the middle course of the river, very deep. There were a few springs along the river, sweet and clear.I only went forward a little bit more than 4km but I had walked more than 20km for finding my way. It was not possible to cross the main stem, let alone the north bank of Bungdad Co. What I could only do was to try to find a shallow place to cross. But the southern area was a even larger piece of wetland and forced the road turn towards west. I spent a couple of hours but failed to find a good point to cross the river. In the afternoon, I decided to follow the edge of the wetland. When I reached the hill foot, the wetland finally disappeared. Around this area, there were clearly volcanic feature of terrain and I even found traces of pasturing and cairns made from volcanic rock.Here was the last pasturing trace I found throughout my journey, I guessed it was a summer pasture area. After this, there was no clear sign of human activities in this vast wilderness. I had been looking for my ways until it was dark. I made up my mind where to go TOMOrrow. The terrain here looked like Yardang landforms, as well as volcanic landforms The Yinshui He river from Orba CoSprings scattered all over the river bank, painted green by lovely algaeThe river was very deep. The mixture of green and amber colour showed the sand and mud carried by the melted iceThick layer of ice, sunken surface caused by strong gustsThe south course of the Yinshui He, countless small streams. To the right was the wetlandLooking for ways in the east, a trace of pasturing and the cairn made from spongy volcanic rocksMy camp, opposite to the hillDay 7 (April 26), 11km, Camping 5009mI moved forward to the direction I found yesterday, turning around the wetland and walking toward east. At 2pm, I was blocked by the zigzag Yinshui He again and I had no choice but to cross it. The river was about 700m wide, covered by ice which appeared very different. The hanging ice, the folding ice, the piling-up ice, the icy puddle, and the sleet were everywhere along the river bank. Having noticed all of these, I reckoned the river would be receding at dusk, which was why there were so many different shapes and forms of ice. I put my slipper on, going into the main stream of the river. I found there were at least three different courses of the river, the thickness of the surface ice varied and the river water reached above my knees. I sighed there would be no way back once I crossed this river. There are many ways in one's life too, you can only take it once and you will no long have the courage to repeat it.I pushed the bike crossing the river. Some of the ice was a bit soft, jamming the tyres so that I had to use my feet to break them first. Some of the ice was a bit thick but with half-melted underneath, sticking the the bike completely, some of the ice was half-water half-ice with a sandy riverbed, which was really hard to pass. I had to remove all of the panniers at the last stage of the crossing. I spent the whole four hours to cross the river, my legs got many bloody cuts. At 6pm, the surface ice was almost disappeared completely, the river level rapidly rising to a chaotic status. I thought if I hesitated a little bit at that time, I could not have the courage to cross this river under such circumstances. The river bank was unimaginably sandy and was quite steep. I had to unloaded the panniers again to reach the top of the bank. By the time of sunset, the weather became exceptionally good. The sunlight from the descending sun, the blue sky, the faint moon, .... I liked such a colorful and peaceful Chang Tang and very much enjoyed my camp and myself bathed in such beautiful colour.The ice like this was very thin and suspended, far away from the main stemHard surface with half-melted underneath, the soft sand at the botton was most scaryThe ice like this could easily jam the wheels, hard to get it outI had to unload the panniersChaotic water and terrible hails turned up in no timeThe Chang Tang at the moment liked it used to be,a mixture of cold and warm tones under the golden setting sun Day 8 (April 27), 14.6km, Camping 5112mLast night, I forgot to bring in the odometer, which was out of order due to the coldness in midnight. Since then I used GPS to check the mileage. The digital thermometer was no longer working. I had to use mercury thermometer to collect data. Night temperatures were basically between –15℃—–20℃ while the temperature inside my tent was about –10℃. The advantage of the integrated tent was that it limited the ventilation so to keep warm inside. However, it got clearly disadvantage of heavy condensation and dew. Every morning, there was plenty of frost inside the tent so that I had to put my hood on First Before fully getting dressed. The winds in Chang Tang finally became consistent with the pattern I had researched the other day no or very tiny wind in the morning, strong wind started after 2pm, and then at around 8pm its strength was reduced again. The accuracy of this prediction was about 80%.The road was very bad today. I walked whole afternoon in an ancient riverbed and it was so difficult that I had to use all of my strengths to move a small step forward and then to stop to breath, slower than a snail. After five hours' struggling, my eyes got wet when I saw the grassy river bank. Finally! The nightmare was over.Cold and clear morningHeavy morning condensation in the interior, a lot of frost to clearSuch dawning sunlight indicated a cloudy day ahead Day 9 (April 28), 18km, 5072mIn the morning I entered a range of sandy roads which were so terrible. The solar panel specially designed for GPS got short circuited. After checking it was found to be the diode got damaged. Luckily I got a replacement. Because the GPS was exclusively supplied by a solar panel so that it was no longer a problem for the power supplement of GPS. In a period of 70 days, I did replace the battery once, which saved me a lot of alkaline batteries. I did have another solar panel of 5.4 W which was used specifically for 7.5V Camera, DV and other digital facilities. Unlike water, I had never been short of power.At 7pm in the evening, I arrived at Pur Co. The surface of this lake was very odd the ice by the river bank rose and the river bank was broken, I reckoned that was due to the strong winds. The ice there was mingled with something yellow, could be the stain of alkali. There were many wild yaks on the other side of the lake. There could be two brown bears but I could not be for certain. On the east side of the lake, there was a peninsula leading to the centre of the lake. I camped just opposite to the peninsula. At night , I smashed the ice to get drinking water, which tasted alkali. For the first time I cooked the cereals, which was brought completely by accident. This was just because I found there was a little bit of extra space when I was in Nagri packing the stuff for this journey so that I bought two packs of cereals. It tasted disgusting, probably there was too much alkali in the water. I threw away half of it. Later I realised that probably I subconsciously felt that the provisions was so heavy. The wild yaks clustered into small groups. All of a sudden, there was a group of five of them running towards me, blowing a huge cloud of dust with the power of thunderbolts,I believed that anyone who did not know the characters of the wild yaks must be frightened to death under such circumstances. The fact was the wild yaks in groups never injured people. Rushing to you just to show you its territory. When they approached people at certain distance, they would turn sharply and run away, and then stopped somewhere high to stare at you. You can not imagine that the wild yaks were very cautious animals compared with its almost one ton of weight. Their first reaction, when meeting people, was to raise their tails, the front hooves rubbing against the ground, the horns pointing forward, the eyes redden, and the long body hair shaking, all of which showed their determination to fight.This was the warning sign that you should retreat. However, you should realise that this was only a gesture that they were afraid of you and wanted to scare you away. The thing was that if you were not afraid of them and moved forward, they would run away in no time. There were only some mad yaks attacking people, which was really rare to happen. In Chang Tang, an experienced driver know that it is very dangerous to pass directly from two or three lonely wild yaks. They always tried to avoid confronting them directly. If this was not possible, they would lit a cigarette, smoking, to wait until the yaks walked away themselves. This was because the wild yaks really could attack vehicles, which was not completely rumors. I once asked them why I had not been attacked. They told me that because my bike was so small they would not be bothered to attack it. My own experience was that approaching a wild yak very slowly, do not look into its eyes, and ignored what it was doing. As long as it moved forward a little bit, just stop and give the yaks a little bit of time to think. Because if you forced the yak, it could be themost dangerous animal in the world and nothing could stop them killing. Even a gunshot could not kill it but only left a small hole in its skin. In the past, the nomads living near this land would use yaks' skin as chopping board which was very much endurable. At noon, I lost my balacLAVA, which was brand new and I had never used it once. I could not be bothered to go back tofind it. This resulted in that I had to have my fleece hat day and night in the rest of my journey, which did not provide fully protection from the sun in the plateau. But somehow I was all right, perhaps because my skin is similar to those of yaks, lol. At around half past one, I found a deserted Jeep, upside down. I felt it could be there for years and it could be the vehicle of someillegal HUNTERs. Nowadays, we have wildlife conservation reserves in Chang Tang and the animals here are well protected. However, some people kills the wild yaks to sell them as the domestic yak's meat. In general, it is worth 10,000 Chinese yuans for a single wild yak. Therefore many people take the risk to make money. They often enter the unpopulated areas to hunt and their activities can reach 200 km in diameter. This is why the wild yaks in the deep wilderness are less afraid of people than thoseat the boundaries of the Chang Tang region.There once happened that a wild yak mother revenged its baby's murder in the Altun mountains. Its horns pierced the killer's chest and held his body over its head for more than ten days, which was very touching.Around 3pm, I walked out of the Pur basin. The next point was Hong Shan Daban and then it was the Yueya Hu by the Toze Gangri. At this time I found a vehicle track from south to north. I checked over but could not find the way where they had gone. I took my map, GPS, and compass, climbing up a small hill to estimate the location of Hong Shan Daban. The mountain was very round and it was hard to find the mountain pass. After determining the location of the Daban, I moved straightforward. When I passed a messy grassland, I saw something that I was reluctant to see more than hundreds of wild yaks' head scattered all over, which was definitely the scene of the illegal hunting. After that it was a very long ancient river bed with soft sand slowly rising until the foot of the mountain.There are some spines on the surface of the tongues of wild yaks, which are used by nomads in this area as combs. Tomorrow's weather must be wonderful, I reckoned Day 11(April 30), 20.4km, Camping 5120mThe surface of the road leading to Hong Shan Daban was very hard, most of them were small rocks, sort of gravels, plus a quite long downhill slope, I pushed my bike more than 20km for the first time after Luxing Hu. The mountain pass was quite flat, just like a broad ridge, it was 5256m above the sea level. Upon arriving at the pass, Toze Gangri of 6356m was in my sight clearly, very much round and there was no back bone like normal snow covered mountains. Most of the snow mountains in Chang Tang looked like this probably it was due to the geological movements. There were quite a few chirus or Tibetan antelopes in the valley but I was not interested in this kind of animals anymore after I witnessed a large scale of migration of such animals last year elsewhere.The herbivorous animals here are very quick to reach its original size of the population, such as wild yaks, chirus, Tibetan gazelle, pika, and marmot. When you go into the depths of the Chang Tang, you could hardly be surpised by the sudden appearance of the chirus because they are so common in here. At this time of year, the chirus have already male-female parted. You could see many pregnant female chirus but hardly see any males. According to recent research, Zonag Co is not the only lake for breeding. There are at least four of them in the whole Chang Tang. Zonag Co, Tuzi Hu, Heishi Beihu, and another lake I can not remember. I think there must be more than four of them and most of the populations do not migrant long way like most people used to think. They generally migrant from south to north between Central Mountains and Kunlun Mountains.The chirus looks very timid but are very curious about outside world. They are not really afraid of people, particularly in the depth of the Chang Tang. The nearest distance we can approach is about 30m. They just stare at you calmly and think who you are and why you move so slow. They would run in front of you. Look like they are afraid of you but the fact is they are playing with you. A man's own character shapes his fortune. This is of course suit for animals too. The chirus are the typical one. They have a super speed and a pair of sharp antlers. If they are crazy, three of them work together could easily kill a wolf. But as you might have known, their antlers are just for fighting to mate with females.Down the Daban there was a very steep and straight road, I tried to ride the bicycle but ended up with falling over. The front rack came loose and one of the pannier flew into valley. The foot of the mountain was the Yueya Hu covered by ice, which was alake full of heavy metal elements. Along the lake bank there were many stark rocks very much weathered, lining up just like castles or houses. This made me stop to investigate what they were from time to time, I did understand they were just rocks though but they were so real like the figures of real people. On of them even made me hide in a ditch, observing them again and again using my binoculars. There were also many black volcanic rocks. All in all, the features of this area were really unusual.Passed over the Yueya Hu, it was an endless ancient lake bed. What my GPS showed was this area was a big lake like tentacles. I looked around, it was endless wilderness without a piece of ice and a drop of water. Roughly, I estimated this lake bed was about 1200 square meters. I had to tell you that Chang Tang was a place where there was no high-resolution map. The marks in the map often were some kind of memory. Just like this ancient lake bed under my feet, may be it was full of water a few years ago. Who knows. Pushing the bike in such an endless lake bed was very easy to get lost. About wildlife (part 1)Declaration Personal experience for reference onlyDangerous wild animals and their threats to human beings are a ever-LASTING subject for those backpackers travelling in the wild.In Chang Tang, for example, there are two kinds of deadly animals, one is wolves and the other is brawn bears. As substitutes, wild yaks and crows might be dangerous to you in some circumstances that I will come back to this a little bit later on. As for how to protect yourself against these dangerous animals, I think the primary point is you do not try to hurt them because the emotions of human and animals are same instinctively. [Wolves]Throughout my journey, I met wolves a total of seven times, in which I confronted them five times. As you might have known that wolves have become more and more solitary animals, it is very rare they live in a large group nowadays. Please allow me off the point a little bit and talk about the ecological problems in Chang Tang. The problem is now not the decrease of the number of the chirus but the imbalance of the whole food chain, more specifically, the number of the animals on the higher trophic levels of the food chain has not yet reached its ideal level which results in this kind of imbalance. Particularly, the pikas and the marmots who have lost their predators rapidly expanse which results in the desertification of Chang Tang. As early as the middle of last century, wolves were the dominant predators in the vast wilderness. They became a threat not only to other preys but also nomads pasturing in this land. Therefore, the then government called on people to cull back the population of the wolves in Chang Tang, which resulted in the current situation directly. The last official record about wolves attacking humans was around 1970s, which happened in Bamaoqiongzong. A team of secientists was surrounded by a group of wolves and they had to shoot them using guns. Of course, at present in Chang Tang, wolves are absolutely lonely.In this traverse, the first time I encountered a pair of wolves, one of them staying in front of me pretending to attack me while the other staying behind me. This is the standard attacking strategy of wolves. First, you should not be nervous which can be easily detected by the predators. Second, you should not retreat even an inch because this means you are the prey rather than the predator. Do not make any large movement, of course you could take a picture if you feel safe to do so. You must look into its eyes for a few minutes or even half an hour. When the wolves can not work out who you are and consider you are not posing any danger to them, then they will leave. You should remember that wolves in this land do not lack of food and it is much easy for them to catch a pika than a human. Even if being hungry, they would evaluate how easy to get you done, What you need to do is to show them that you are not interested in them and you are not afraid of them at all, let alone to show your ID card to them. As for the wolves family, really, I have not heard for ages. If you really have an encounter with them and they have no other choice, then it definitely depends on your forture. In fact, for so many year, it has been very rare to happen that wolves kill human. But the rumours are still there, in particular, the road connecting Xinjiang and Tibet.The nearest encounter with a wolf throughout my journey, no conflict at all[Brown Bears]Brown bears are real dangerous animals to human. Every year there are some accidents happened in some regions of Xinjiang on the north side of Kunkun Mountains and steppes in Northern Tibet. More than that the bears could attack your house, smash your windows, and eat your sheep. Therefore, in Northern Tibet some local councils give subsidies to the pastorarists for compensating the losses due to the bears because they are not allow to fight back and kill the bears except their lives are in great danger. Once there was a nomad taught me a method to protect yourself from bears. He told me to pick up a stick to feed the bear and the bear thinks the stick is your hand which tastes disgusting. So the bear would leave. It was so funny but the reality is to find a stick in this vast wilderness is just like you win the lottery.Bears are omonivorous animal who are generally not interested in human flesh. You can find that in most of accidents, the bears did not eat any of the human flesh rather they just smashed them for kind of fun that we could not understand. For the reason why bears kill human, one explanation is the conflict between human and wildlife in this extreme ecological environment. The nomads invade the habitats of the bears, which results in these conflicts. On the other hand, it might be because bears have quite high IQ so that they think it is much easy to kill a sheep in the cote rather than to kill a pika in the wild.I have met bears five times in my traverse, in two cases we were very close to each other. I had even walked with one of them for quite a while, just like we had a date for a walk. The fact is it is not that terrible like you might imagine. The same rules for dealing with wolves apply to bears. Never provoke dangerous animals. A bear can run at a speed of 40km/h, do you think you can compete this in a highland 5,000m above sea level?However, there is a situation where it is really dangerous, that is the encounter. It is not easy to control your instinctive reaction to the external dangers. Last year once I turned around a hill, there was a bear just in front of me. The bear of course was frightened by me with its front legs holding up, waving in the air and roaring. At that time I sat on the ground, ignoring it. The bear then left in a few minutes. I will no longer talk about it.This was the funniest encounter with a solitary wild yak, who did not warn me. If I sat down, it sat down too. If I moved forward, it stopped. Could not imagine what it was thinking about.[Crows]Crows are dangerous only when you fall unconscious in the wilderness. Of course they will be the first to taste your flesh in that case. Unlike their cousinsliving in urban areas, the crows in Chang Tang have a larger body like eagles. When they fly over your head, you could feel like it is a piece of cloud. They are scavengers but like fresh meat too. It once happened that a baby was killed by crows relentlessly, let alone the lambs got killed by them. Once a nomad asked me for fireworks to scare the crows away. (They are sacred birds not to be killed by human)It is easy to defend yourself against crows, that is to keep fighting, never fall in the wilderness.A short break attracted the crows. Of course, they were miscalculating this time, photo taken last year[Strategies Adopted]At the time when I met the four soldiers in Jieshan Daban, they said there were many dangerous animals in the Northern Tibet and asked me if I had brought a shotgun. I think if they knew that I would enter Chang Tang they would definitely check if I really have a shotgun. The so-called defence facilities I brought with me were the fireworks and pepper spray. I had never used them. The fireworks were ruined and thrown away when I crossed a river and I had never opened the pepper spray. I even had never thought about this when camping in the night. The reason was I did not feel the needs. During the day time whenever I met any animals I had never touched the knife I had brought. I did not have anything to defend myself when I walked out to investigate the route. The Chang Tang is really a vast area so as to be very easy to detect anything strange.By the way, you'd better to avoid mating season's animals because even tamed rabbits could be aggressive in mating season.The thing is even if you have a gun, it is not very much helpful when bears attack you. Therefore, your attitude is most important.I can tell you something. Dogs are more dangerous than these wild animals. I had been chased by Tibetan dogs, pounced on by dogs in mating season, also besieged by a group of dogs. I really feel it is more useful to know how to defend a dog.Declaration again The above experience is from Chang Tang only. Of course, the more you prepared, the better. Day 12 (May 1), 23.8km, Camping 5117mToday was May 1 -- the Labour Day, I had been walking in some lake area marked in the map but clearly dried up. The lake basin was flat and hard so that I even pushed my bike more than 20km. Let it be the special treat for my May Day. After midday it became cloudy with growing winds. Since the Yueya Hu that I passed yesterday, there were no big lakes until Yanghu Co (My route would be between Jianshui Hu and Bairab Co), there was even no light alkaline water to drink so I had to pay extra attention not to miss any possible drinking water supply to fill up my water bag. There were a few very small lakes but all were alkaline puddles which was very shallow, whose depth was no more than the length of a half-finger. These puddles were covered with a hard shell of the mixture of salt and ice which smelled stinking and decaying when getting closer, must be toxic water I supposed. On the shore of this type of small lakes it was muddy soil and very hard to get closer.There was no sign of tundra at all.It was almost half past six when I found some snow corns in a ditch, which was the only drinking water supply of the day. There was a thin layer of melted ice on the surface of the ground near the snow corn, which was very hard to collect and was contaminated by the alkali. The snow corn was the yet melted thick snow, which was shaped like a corn by wind. The snow was quite hard and dry,porous like ice. I crushed a few snow corns, putting them into the water bag.They would be my drinking water tonight. These snow corns were the only one in today's wilderness, I reckoned the reason why they were not melted like others was the soil underneath contained large amount of ice blocks which acted as a freezer.Very strong gale in the night, it was hard to bear the sound of the vibration of the tent. Small single tent was good in the sense that it would not be blown away as long as you stayed inside. But you had to be very careful to set up the tent. I once did not pay much attention when doing so, the tent was blown away by winds, and rolling over like a Giant lantern ... I ran after it, got it back, and was exhausted. In general, it is not possible to fix the tent completely using tent pegs because they were not very much effective like large tents. It was snowing around 23 o'clock, the winds were howling from north,then the falling snow flakes landed on my tent quietly, I finally felt at peace and fell asleep. The flat ancient lake basin, assisting me walking more than 20kmSmall lake en route, toxic waterSnow corns, the only drinking water supply today Day 13 (May 2), 0km, Camping 5117mWaking up in the morning and opening the tent, the heavy snow outside must be sent by the God to force me have a break for the May Day. After lying in for a while, getting up and walking on the snowy ground out I went to have a look around. As first sight there were a herd of chirus. They were plainly to be spotted because they looked like a clear black straight line in the while snow. I returned to get my camera and then followed them to take some pictures. But they were very much alert and kept a quite long distance from me. I felt they were a group of pregnant females, instinctively protecting themselves from any potential harm. I was no longer short of water, the snow gave me a precious supply of drinking water. The problem was that they were very petrol consuming. I tool 8.6 litre of petrol and the oil stove was Duola's MSR. The pot was of 1.5 litre, mainly for boiling water. After several days' experiments, I found that the liquid water needed 16mins and 14-15mins to boil in the morning and evening, respectively. For ice, it would take 35-40mins while for snow it took 45-50mins. Melting snow was a very time and petrol consuming process so if I had a choice between snow and light alkaline water, most of time I would go with the latter. Lying inside the tent, listening to musics,I smoked a cigarette while gazing at the more and more chirus around me. Because it was very cold I had been wearing my shoes all the time. Now I just put my bare feet under the warm sun for some fresh air. I found three cuts in my hands and one in my sole. The cuts were about 4cm in length, looked terrible but it was actually all right really. Half of my toes were injured by to much walking, quite painful. I fetched my medicine bag and found I only got four patches of plasters, a serious mistake. One of the cuts in my hand had never been cured until I was out of this desolate land so as to feel like this finger would drop from my hand at any time. The others quickly recovered in a few days then new cuts appeared elsewhere. This process occurred periodically. I felt that it was somewhat related to the cold, dry weather and the lack of vitamins. The snow rapidly disappeared, which is unique phenomenon in Chang Tang. Because of the low air humidity and the high radiation from the sun, the snow was evaporating very fast, much quicker than the melting speed. Owing to this, the ground was generally still dry after the snow disappeared. In most cases, it would be only 2/5 left in the afternoon around 2 to 3 o'clock and small patches of ground could be seen. It would be completely all right for walking the next day. On the third day there could be some snow left in somewhere the sunlight hard to reach. So generally it could give you three days of water supply after a heavy snow like this. One of the pannier was broken, the most expensive one from deuter series, supposed to be waterproof. I will come back to it at some point later.
