狼塔梦开始的地方,去年计划要走的路线,因为种种原因搁浅,今年刚回到北京听迷说要去狼塔,正在犹豫中想想来电话问十一区哪里“狼塔啊”没过几小时,想想再次来电“票出了”,9月29日一行五人踏上西域的征程,梦想希望总是与现实有天壤之别,几次危险的悬崖和垭口与鬼门关擦肩而过,深知户外诱惑力很大还是要珍惜生命, 此次活动属于重装徒步强度较大,男的背负25公斤左右,女的要在20公斤左右,沿途走栈道悬崖,过河数次,平均海拔在3000---4000左右,原计划我们是C线+V线,最后我们小分队7人走呼图壁峡谷因有200---300米峡谷水较大过腰水深,加上不够v线后面5天的食物只好是C线金矿出山,遗憾的没走成狼塔v线 狼塔c线起始于位于北疆昌吉回族自治州的呼图壁河大峡谷,由北向南翻越五座近4000米的达坂后到达南疆巴音郭楞蒙古自治州的和静县巴伦台,全程徒步距离约120公里。呼图壁河发源于河源峰,在当地哈萨克语中,河源峰被称为狼塔,意为有群狼守护的塔山。河源峰海拔高度5290米,山势陡峭,型如尖塔。狼塔C线正是穿越这一地区的一条高危徒步线路。狼塔C线穿越需要翻越冰山隘口、横渡激流、行走空中栈道、穿越草原、森林…风景绝美而又惊险刺激、集巍峨壮美的天山风光之大成。在新疆户外,狼塔C线被评为难度和风景最高的8级,是目前已知的最艰苦的徒步线路之一。在后山一百多公里的无人区里,森林茂密、遮天蔽日;奇花异草、闻所未闻。这里是狼、棕熊、雪豹、野猪、北山羊、盘羊、雪鸡等野生动物的乐园,更是富有探险精神的山友们的向往之地。 此次新疆之行狼塔经历悬崖,过河水过腰,遇盗猎份子大家晚上觉都不敢睡,下雨冰雹暴晒。博格达经历暴风雪能见度五米。喀纳斯经历暴雪,丛林迷路20小时,出险的时候偶遇北京朋友大猫和信天翁一行七人。新疆麦田青旅和水哥结交好多朋友。铁丐友情提示:点击“只看该作者”,美图一览无余,切莫忘记哦!~~(注意是点我——铁丐) 一路西行,到达乌鲁木齐火车晚点五六小时,让在车站外接我的豆浆童鞋喝了三场酒,从几十公里外昌吉过来接我们的新疆树等的太晚先回家了。下火车已经是半夜12点多,把行李放到新疆麦田国际青年旅社,一行人直奔饭店;老板,羊肉串一样来十串,大盘鸡,皮匣子。。。啤酒。快快滴。。。味道相当的美,新疆吃肉的地方太适合要饭的来了。。。哈哈 第二天一早起来,豆浆就过来接我们,微博上看到北京的户外丫头也在乌鲁木齐,头天晚上等着接火车还安排和一位美女一起,结果火车晚点太不靠谱就早点回去休息了,中午过来带我们去南门清真寺旁边的胡同,品尝新疆当地最美的小吃;抓饭,烤包子,新疆的水果可以说是太美了,我这不爱吃水果的人,每天都买很多的葡萄,山里爬山的时候总是脑海里浮现出水果香甜可口的样子。 在新疆进山前和出山后必须是要腐败的,这里就是吃货的天堂 午饭后一行人浩浩荡荡前往乌鲁木齐志性建筑大巴扎,这里更能体现民族风情和各色民族饰品 短暂到达乌市休息一天,在九月一日早上乌市出发前往白杨沟,老规矩放鞭炮点三只烟敬山神 D.1-----上午9;30从乌鲁木齐出发一路欢歌笑语到达常规出发点油罐处,领队又让车继续往上开到实在不能行使的地方,(哦,中午在半路吃了一次新疆拌面,这是俺第一次吃拌面,一开始还是有点抵触情绪,结果吃了一次以后,在新疆无论到哪里都要吃拌面,到现在回到北京还一直怀念,回到内地在也没有吃到过这么正宗的拌面),下午230开始艰苦的行程,从海拔2800开始有一段爬坡,基本沿着山脊行走,由于第一天重装28公斤,身体也没有走开晚上830到达营地,一开始准备带的相机三脚架在狼塔夜晚拍星空的,也在第二天早上被一个下撤的队员带回乌市了。 美丽的天山山脉 早晨阳光晒在帐篷上,很不情愿的从睡袋里爬起来烧水做饭拔营,拔营后直接过河,河水里没有过河点中间的石头非常的滑,一脚踏上石头滑进水里鞋子进水,到岸上赶紧把鞋子脱下来还好只是袜子湿了,换完袜子一路上升走到白杨沟大阪,今天太阳直射在脸上,脸上的汗水瞬间被风吹干凝聚成盐粒。 中午在白杨沟大阪下午饭补充水,午饭后一直拔升到白杨沟大阪海拔3800米,重装拔高头两天很痛苦,途中想着以后几天都是这种拔高,精神意志都很崩溃,一路好几个队员脚底都已经起泡,到达大阪顶部休息片刻一路下降,领队刚刚好在我前面脚底一滑连续翻了两个跟头,幸亏体力较好及时停住否则后果很可怕,一路下撤到鞍部牧民帐篷,豆浆的朋友哈萨克族人非常热情的煮好风干羊肉接待我们,早晨D1营地的阳光 豆浆是一个非常负责的领队一直跑前跑后的收队领队,晚上营地扎营做饭一天三四个菜,背负比任何人都重,白杨沟垭口豆浆深沉的背影遥望着群山。 D2鞍部营地在一个山腰上,旁边是哈萨克族的羊圈,哈萨克族人非常热情的用风干羊肉招待了我们,并且让走不动的人以后几天用马来驼背包。快到?a href="http//ankang.8264.com" class="keyword" target="_blank">安康氖焙蛭铱吹交又徊揭徊酵屡沧抛撸礁安胖澜诺灼鹋萘耍较略绲降男陆佑雅苌侠窗鸦又陌酉氯ァ5酱锇安靠吹角宸缭谌茸源睦弊蛹Γ谒「辖舫粤艘豢榧ν取P恍磺宸缋?br/> 热情的哈萨克族人不紧拿出了风干羊肉还拿出了珍藏的皮牙子(汉族称洋葱)山里时间久了这是最好的消毒食物。 D3天早上大家8:30懒洋洋的从帐篷里爬出来做饭,930从鞍部出发周围的牧民赶着羊群准备下山了(天气逐渐寒冷山上没有食物了牧民要把羊群赶到山下牧场)([]

人在旅途野味丁烦闷的日子里总想写首诗送给你却总是静不下心于是带着你遥远的祝福踏上川流在风景线中的列车在你生活的海洋中去寻找温馨的港湾 2012年10月烦闷的一天,突然决定去离我较近的桂林、阳朔去走一走,于是,打好包,下午说走就走... 午饭后,在广东连南瑶族自治县的广场上了去连山的车,准备在那里再转车去广西贺州,那里车多好拦车。 下车后在连山一家小店买了瓶饮料,问了年轻貌美的女店主还有没有去广西贺州的车,她说还有(所有去贺州方向的车都要经过她店铺门口),她让我在她店门口等,说很快就会有车来,还给我一把椅子让坐下来等... 在等待过程中我开始找话和她聊天,得知她原来还在东莞某房地产公司做过中层管理,是个白领。我原来在深圳可是呆了18年,珠三角地区几乎跑遍了,自然我们有话聊了。那女孩是连山本地人,家人为了催她回家结婚,才逼她回来家乡的,小县城没有什么好工作可做,就自己开始了创业,开了一间专门卖阳江刀的小店,由于位置偏,生意不好做,加上男朋友又不顾店,喜欢打麻将,使得女孩十分苦恼,对前途感到渺茫,不知如何是好。她告诉我,在东莞追她的成功男人很多...偏偏回到家乡找了个不争气的男友。我留下了她的手机号码,想进一步和她联系,车也来了,我上了去贺州的车,准备在贺州扎营,第二天再坐车去阳朔的,可是上了车,计划全变了...因为又发生了一个故事... 车在傍晚7点多钟到了贺州车站,我在最后下车,下车后有个女孩站在大巴车门口突然问我"你下一站去哪里"?我说"我先去找个地方扎营,然后,第二天再转车去阳朔"。"那你去不黄姚古镇啊"?那女孩问我。我说"我没有打算去黄姚古镇"。我心想,你不会是拉客的吧!?她说"你可以先去黄姚古镇,然后再去阳朔啊"!我说"我没去过,不知离这里有多远,而且天黑了又没有公交车去了,打的士会很贵的"。那女孩说"我一看你上车背那个包就知道你是个资深驴友,我也是玩户外的,我家就在住在黄姚古镇附近"。我听那女孩这样一说,我立刻化解了对她警惕性,于是,我就和她聊开了... 原来那女孩是回家来参加堂弟的结婚大喜事,以前经常带驴友去她家扎营,那女孩人很热情,又在大巴车上认识一个中途在路上上车的一个来南方"漂泊游荡"的新驴,之所以说他是新驴,是因为那男孩第一次出远门玩"户外",让朋友在网上花了600元把帐篷、睡袋、背包、防潮垫全部买好了。后来,在我的指导下又重新买了个背包。后面细说。那女孩把那男孩叫过来跟我认识时,那男孩手里拖着一个行李车,到我身边一细看,行李车上拖着的是一个户外包。我见他的第一句话便是"我还没有见过拖着户外登山包玩户外的。 那男孩姓林,让我们叫他"小林"。我问小林去不去黄姚古镇,他说,他听我的。然后,我问了那女孩,包车去需要多少钱,问到车价格合算的话,我们就去,结果,问到一个顺路要回家的黄车司机,约30元一个人,于是,我们三个人就上了去黄姚古镇方向附近的私家车,那私家车为了多赚钱,又拉了二个上来,一部小车就这样挤进了5个人。在路上,我问女孩怎么称呼她,她说叫她百合书好了。在聊天过程中,既然得知百合书认识我一个深圳登协一个领队班一起参加培训的同学"风景",真是无巧不成书啊!天下如此之小。于是,我们聊得更加投缘... 晚上,我们到了百合家里。百合书说明天一大早天不亮就要起来带我们走山路徒步二小时去黄姚古镇逃票进去。 这个左面的女孩就是百合书,我们去黄姚古镇的徒步路上,还有小林... 百合书带我们成功逃票进了黄姚古镇后,还要忙着去找她妹妹一起赶集市采购食品回家办酒席,就交待了我回程的线路有二条,一条是坐车弯路绕道回去,还有一条就是原路徒步翻山返回。我和小林一直逛到下午就早早地徒步返回。 介绍一下小林小林家在吉林,家族做药品生意,由于不好做,生意萧条就出来到南方走走,完全没有目的性,买到广州的火车票在韶关就下火车了,去了南华寺、丹霞山后,又边走边搭车到了连州,准备往广西方向走,走在路上累了就随手拦截到了,我和百合书同坐的大巴车,我是倒数第二个中途上车的,小林是最后一个上车的。 我和小林下午从古镇回来后,上到我们扎营的二楼平顶上吃惊发现,我的帐篷被鞭炮炸出来5、6个小洞,仔细检查才发现都是帐篷门帘处烧坏了,不影响我的行程和野外露营,这事情我也没有告诉百合书,我是沾了她家的喜事了。 又在书家楼顶上露了一晚上,第二天一大早百合书的爸爸用摩托车拉我和小林,分两次把我们拉到十几公里的路边去搭车到阳朔,还把司机师傅的电话号码告诉了我,在此,我借此机会向热心的百合书和她朴实的父亲深深道个谢!感谢一天二夜在她家的吃住和热情接待... 蓦然回首,从伦敦回国已经一年多的时间,12月的上海,日渐变的冷了下来。突然回想起一年前这个时候刚骑着单车去俄罗斯领事馆申请证被冻得冷兮兮的时候。努力了四个月只拿到了哈萨克,俄罗斯,和申根证,于是就踩着单车上路,由上海到伦敦。哈萨克的荒凉,俄罗斯的寒冷,拉脱维亚的刹那春光,立陶宛的童话,波兰的狂暴,德国的严谨,阿姆斯特丹的红灯区,布鲁塞尔帮我带路的印度人,巴黎街头的卖唱艺人,以及伦敦的暮霭,在脑海里一遍一遍的过滤着。索性翻出去那时的照片,贴在这里,也算是对自己那段疯狂日子的一种祭奠。2011年3月5日,我由上海理工大学毛主席像前面出发,前来送我的学弟学妹们.这个时候我已经准备了近半年的时间,手里拿着三张证,哈萨克斯坦,俄罗斯,申根.各位童鞋,因为最近新书刚出版,一些事情需要处理,所以更新的不及时,还望大家谅解。如果有着急的童鞋可以关注我的sina博客“驭风者郑盛”里面有之前我在路上每天的记录,当然如果大家能关注我的新书《我的青春在路上》就更好了,我将一路的经历,各国证以及一路的见闻及心理路程详细的记录在里面。当当,亚马逊,京东,淘宝均有销售,百度百科也有介绍,当然我也会继续在8264分享我接下来的旅程,谢谢关注了~~为什么只有三张证,其实是占了一个小便宜,申根证包括25个国家,所以,我一个申根证可以从拉脱维亚一直到法国,这也是当时有了骑车去伦敦的想法之后对着地图冥思苦想好几天才设计的路线,中国,哈萨克斯坦,俄罗斯,拉脱维亚,立陶宛,波兰,德国,荷兰,比利时,法国,英国。英国的证之所以放到法国办理,一是在国内已经没有那么多时间去申请证,第二是我也吃不准路上需要多长时间,不好吧时间限制死。为什么有这个想法?我也说不好,就是一种冲动,毕业了,总有一种回到大学里的冲动,总觉得自己的大学还没过完,总觉得还需要一点什么去做一个总结。2010年的9月,上海十分的燥热,坐在办公室里,看着9月17日日历,上海理工大学开学的日子,越想越闷,四年的汗水,四年的欢声笑语,四年的喜怒哀乐,四年的青春就这样戛然而止,似乎并没有一个完美的句号。以后就只能每天朝九晚五的上班,送货,销售,加薪,培训。回家的路上,坐在地铁的角落,我开始认真的思考起来,想起我要骑车走全国,骑车去尼泊尔的梦想,然而越想越觉得堵得慌,似乎被鱼刺卡了喉咙,吐不出来,也咽不下去,难道我的青春就这样草草结束了吗?我想起了骑车去走全国的日子,或许,我需要对自己的青春做一个总结,需要一个句号。但是去过西藏,中国基本没什么挑战了,于是就选择了欧亚大陆,上海到伦敦,作为我的毕业旅行,也是我22岁时的纪念。有了这个想法之后,我就去和捷安特上海的俱乐部取得了联系,经过了几个月的努力,上海的沈总决定,赞助我自行车和自行车相关的全部零件,满满的一个大箱子,让我更加有了在路上的信心。很多人好奇我怎么能拿到证,这个我也不懂,第一次出国,可能更多的是基于一个单纯的想法,老外比较支持个人探险,我去过西藏,应该会得到他们的支持,于是我就把自己的骑车的照片,路书,以及媒体的报道,拿到使馆,幸运的是经过了几个月的折腾,竟然也拿到了。为了让大使馆更好的了解我,我把大学获得十几张证书都一并交了上去,献血证说明我是安全的,志愿者证书说明我是一个乐于奉献的大学生,急救培训证书说明我能适应这一路的自救第一张图是我带的药品,几乎能想到的药品都带上了,感冒发烧拉肚子常见的病,还有牙痛胃痛等不常见的病,药都备齐了。第二张图是马先生和他的同事,得知我有了这个计划之后,他赞助了我不少零件。第三张则是出发前的时候,剃了一个光头,削发明志,霸气外露。2011年3月5日,我带着52KG的装备,开始我正式的欧亚大陆的行走。出发地点是上海理工大学的毛主席像,很多来送我的学弟学妹。当天下午到了南通,搭船过了此行路上的第一条江,长江。苏北的早晨,安静而又美好!走在苏北的平原上,农村的高音喇叭真是给力,一路上好汉歌听的我热血澎湃,然后就是村书记操着苏北普通话:下面有个通知...后面就不知道说啥了宿迁的烧饼真好吃!路过京杭大运河,不禁感慨,隋炀帝的暴政竟造福了后人,是非公过,如何评说呢?3月9日 1150 来自短信 徐州城东50公里处,突然车头一沉,不受控制,一看,暴胎了,难道刘邦知道我崇拜项羽?和我同行的有个胖子,他陪我走到了兰州。补胎神马是最痛苦了,重重的装备要全部卸下来。。。呼啸而过的卡车,给我们造成不小的压力过了郑州,几乎全是面食,对于来自南方的我们来说,每次吃饭就成了一次煎熬。所幸的是四川人遍布全国,偶尔路过城市,可以去吃点米饭。有一些小地方依稀残留着老的东西过了三门峡,就进入了陕西境内,偶遇黄河。明媚的阳光,让我忍不住开始拉着嗓门吼几声。陕西农村的大玉米,搞的很像香蕉树宝鸡的宝莲灯原以为3月份中国的春天会春光明媚,谁知进了秦岭开始一路暴雪。万里冰封我算是见识到什么是滴水成冰了,早晨出门带的水,不到中午就结成冰了,零下五度,变速进水冻住,水壶里全是冰疙瘩,车座子钢管收缩了活动,八公里的下坡停了两次,多几个隧道吧,隧道里暖和!从春天走到冬天,早知道山下带几个西瓜上来吃冰西瓜,哈哈过了兰州,胖子就急匆匆坐飞机回去了。他的离开对我来说是一个很大的打击,本来他至少要陪我到哈萨克斯坦,但是由于他老妈突然要做手术,所以不得不临时放弃。确实,在现实面前,梦想很脆弱,这也让我重新认识这个问。藏族聚居地天祝出来的公路,这一天发飙,一路狂奔,天祝到古浪到武威到永昌,一天235km,三个县城,一个市.黄土高原的天空和西藏的天空一样的蓝.过了张掖,在高台县受到了田翔的招待.住在他的村官宿舍里,就着辣子吃着土豆会肉,是这一生难以忘怀的美味.山丹县明长城的遗址.黄土高原也有雪山的.田翔的舍友,来自云南的村官.过了武威,就进了沙漠和盐碱地,也是传说中的丝绸之路.第一次见到盐是怎么生产出来的,沙漠中的盐碱地里,几个工人将雪花一样的盐矿扫到一起,然后送到旁边的化工厂进行提炼.远远看去,白盐上面升起袅袅烟雾,如同海市蜃楼.神奇的是,盐矿附近竟然还能生长茅草.走在酒泉的沙漠里,因为靠近卫星发射基地,所以最大的乐趣就是数飞机.天下第一雄关,嘉峪关.可惜门票太贵了,门口看了看就离开了/走丝绸之路,最重要的事情就是食物,好的是当地随处可以买到便宜的馍馍,5毛钱两个,榨菜是5毛钱一包,一次买上十几个,可以吃两天.出了嘉峪关,我就不在老老实实的走国道,将自行车扛上了G30,因为这边的国道实在是破烂的可怜.不过,过了瓜州,G30没了,还是接着走312,进入天山进入天山地界,人烟稀少,找不到住的地方,所幸路边有修路队,就进去借宿了一个晚上,也在这里过了我23岁的生日.老妈还打电话过来让我吃好点,呵呵,她还不知道我在天山脚下吹沙子呢.收留我住一晚上的修路工人.来自黑龙江的老大哥.新疆的风,不说什么了,我迎风仍了一个易拉罐,在落地之前,飞到我身后30米,在公路上骑车,活生生的将我从路上扯下来,据说当年吹翻过火车,我还是幸运的,慢慢推还可以走,没有被吹回上海.进了新疆,找睡觉的地方比在生孩子都难,至少生孩子是肚里有货,这里旅馆却是真没有,只好借宿加油站的锅炉房.维族打馕人.到了新疆最大的感触是,这里的民风不错,没有想象中的恐怖,走在乡间小道上,偶遇一个带着小花帽的维族大爷,笑眯眯的给你打个招呼,感觉很是舒服.进疆之前的忐忑也缓解不少.4月7日,克拉玛依。大学朋友白老大,特意将线路改道巴克图出境,就是想来看看他。走在沙漠里,数飞机的感觉是蛮舒服的。霍吉尔特蒙姑乡,放牧的蒙古人。新疆的地名,让我开始相思啊,哈哈戈壁滩塔城,周叔叔,大学朋友的爸爸巴克图出境时候,准备的馕,不过只够吃两天。。。第一次见到其他国家的货币来送我出国的周叔叔刚进入哈萨克的第一个路牌哈萨克的第一个县城公路边的草可以盖住一头头黄牛,让我不禁开始担心起来,这里面是否藏的有狼?哈萨克的路牌还好有一排英文和一排俄文,我可以看懂英文,找路不是问了,第一天晚上没有找到睡觉的地方,因为看不懂哈萨克语和俄语,不知道哪里是旅馆,好的是,一个在这边做生意的新疆人收留了我,睡在他们家的地毯上。新疆人的商店第二天的旅程没有想象中的那么轻松,路边都是乌鸦的窝,嘎嘎叫的心烦这是哈萨克的高速公路,我一个人,踩着单车赶路,偶尔呼啸而过的破车,荡起滚滚黄烟从新疆老乡家里出来,便开始一个人走上这条公路,传说中的哈萨克高速公路,比中国的村村通还烂。一个人,一部单车,后面几头牛在那里当路人甲。去阿拉木图和阿亚谷子的分叉路,还好路牌是英文的,基本上可以看懂。([]
目录1楼--------------------目录和引子2楼-32楼--------------------换船!52楼-119楼---------------鸽子湖钓鱼行(上)160楼-199楼--------------鸽子湖钓鱼行(下)-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------第一季和第二季请看:钓鱼的日子 第一季和第二季引子如果一个人满怀信心地朝着心中的梦想前进,并致力于过自己想要的生活,那么他将在某个意想不到的时刻与成功不期而遇。 ---亨利梭罗 10年前,刚满18岁的我是个非常小资,文艺,自爱,并稍微有点愤青的高中生。那一年里我读了无数遍的《百年孤独》和《城堡》,看了几十部艺术片,并在2个周末里成功地消灭掉100多集的海贼王。对于一个一辈子都在重点学校,重点班,做事还算循规蹈矩的我来说,这些所谓的课外读物携带着风卷残云般的气势使我的世界观如沙砌的城堡般土崩瓦解。突然间我发现生活并不是父母老师教导的那一条直线,并不是上一个好大学,找一个好工作,嫁一个好老公,买一个好房子,然后拥有童话般美好的结局。不知什么时候,我开始觉得我的生活缺少了一样重要的东西,它不是一个具体的物件,而是一个概念,一个想法,一粒可以在我身体里生根发芽长成苍天大树的种子,这粒种子你买不到也借不着,它好像指纹一样是这个世界上只属于你的东西。后来我在历史课上学到马丁路德金,那个充满勇气的黑小伙告诉我,这个东西的名字叫做梦想。生活告诉我们,梦想是不要钱的,但是追逐梦需要的是百分之九十九的坚持,加上百分之一的运气。这就好像那个黑小伙,顶着多少压力还坚持不懈,可惜运气不够,没能逃过最后的那颗子弹。生活还告诉我们,追逐梦想是一辈子的事业,而这一辈子的路上有看得到的艰难险阻,也有带着巧妙伪装的糖衣炮弹,还有众多打暗枪的阶级敌人。所以如果你以为父母的阻挠和生活的茶米油盐酱醋茶是你追逐梦想道路上的绊脚石,那么恭喜你了,你还在这个庞大的RPG游戏的底层徘徊呢。对于这些明面上的敌人,咬咬牙坚持一下就挺过去了,而真正难以逾越的是那些温水煮青蛙的生活,等你缓过神时已经跳不出来了。18岁的我带着年少时充沛的精力和热情把所有的时间都扎到课外书和艺术电影之中。我经常用一天的时间消灭掉一本书或者一部电影,然后沉醉在故事情节中那些最为出人意料和惊心动魄的段落中,它们让我热血澎湃,让我对未来充满了过于积极的展望。很多年后我才反应过来,那一本书或者一部电影是多少人一辈子的浓缩,那些巨大抉择之前的犹豫和迷茫以及生命中某个篇章落幕时的感慨和欣喜,都是短短几个段落所无法描述的。好像很多黄土高原上以老人为材的摄影作品,那个叼着烟袋,穿着几乎洗成白色的蓝卡其布上衣,坐在村口瞭望那漫无边际的蓝天白云黄土的老人,他的脸上被时光刻下了如此深刻的痕迹,而那些痕迹就是什么样的文字都无法表述的生活。18年里在父母和学校庇护下的我,在热血沸腾地向着梦想大踏步前进时,远远地低估了那个站在远处暗笑的生活为我所准备的挑战。 第三季开始正式工作后才发现原来上学和打杂工的生活太惬意了,这感觉就好像上学的时候等不及参加工作,参加工作了才发现原来还是上学的日子单纯简单。2010年8月,上班后发现的第一件事就是原来我的前任发现自己将被炒掉后就开始罢工,拿着工资每天在网上打扑克。所以上班的第一天,迎接我的不是组织热情地拥抱,而是一堆可以建造小规模长城的积压文件。于是在这个什么事情都靠人脉的行业,我成了唯一一个没有去跑关系的人,并不是我不想,而是还没来得及站稳脚跟,四处张望,就已经被文件给淹没了。9月初,我可以担保在别人眼中我已经成为了那个不喑人情世故并且反社交的老古板。因为每次别人那句“Hi, How are you?”刚说了一半,我就已经把文件交接完转身走人了。在多伦多最美好的金秋时节来临时我还没来得及消化掉眼前的那座长城,但是系统重组已经铺天盖地的压过来了。然后老总很语重心长地告诉我,不要急,慢慢来,我们是计划给你配助手的,但是你需要先熟悉熟悉业务,熬过6个月,奖金会有的,助手也会有的。对了,记得把你的手机话费单拿到财务去报销一下,再去IT领个手提,从现在开始需要随时随地能够联系上你。应该说我在这个时候才认识到万恶的资本主义社会真面目。。。我把6个月的大好青春无私地奉献给了梦想中的影视行业,每天过着朝八晚十的生活,早上还没睁开眼睛就听到手机里新邮件的提示音,这让我想起小时候学的《共产儿童团歌》准备了好吗?时刻准备着我们都是共产儿童团将来的主人必定是我们帝国主义者地主和军阀我们的精神使他们害怕快团结起来时刻准备着我想我确实是在时刻准备着,只是不知道我的精神在让谁害怕。。。我大概算了一下,从2010年8月到2013年2月底除去周末和节假日,一共120个工作日左右。我收到约4000封邮件,回复和发送了约4500封邮件,也就是说平均每天收发70封邮件左右,按照10小时工作日计算,每小时收发7封邮件,每10分钟左右收发一封邮件。在这之上还有无数份文件,众多电话,会议,网络会议,面对面交谈。。。2013年3月初,平均每个广告拍摄项目收机后的结算流程由原来的1个月缩短到2个星期。平均每个月制作公司和后期公司的月终结算,项目审计和运作报告流程由原来的1个月缩短到10天。摄制组和后期人员有了固定的规章制度,时间表和监督机制。当然了,在制定和发布新制度的过程中我的声誉在各个摄制组中也呈直线走向。从我的办公室到摄制组的开放式办公厅是一条直线的硬木走廊,每一次我的高跟鞋在走廊上发出铿锵有力的声音时一定会博得摄制组百分百的回头率。遗憾的是这并不是男人们欣赏美女时那充满期待的回头一眸,却更像小学生在听到班主任皮鞋走近的声音时惊恐的一望。开放式办公厅造成一种完全没有隐私的环境,所以很快摄制组的成员们就成立了一个赌博机制,每次都赌这次是谁的报告被返工了。这个游戏在刚开始还算有趣,因为新制度刚实施时被返工的占大多数。赢了钱的人嘻嘻哈哈笑一下,输了钱的扔个硬币到办公室中央的储蓄罐里,然后大家该干嘛干嘛去。但是时间永远是最佳编剧,一个喜剧在时间的打磨中也会演变成悲剧,3个月后,仍被持续返工的制片主任和剧务就成了这出悲剧的主角。凭心而论,3年前的我还是太嫩了,什么改革啊,炒人啊,都是挂在嘴边的词儿。老总您说什么,推行新制度,提高效率和利润率,没问,一切包在我身上!虽然我也曾学过循序渐进,也知道水清则无鱼,更知道做事情不能学海瑞,但是脱离父母的庇护被扔到真实生活中之后便把那些金玉良言完全抛到了脑后。在这里我真的要感谢老总当时没有采纳我很多激进鲁莽的建议,因为如果那些建议真的被实施了,估计我也会距离被炒鱿鱼不远了。2011年2月底,多伦多的天气还没到春暖花开的程度,冬天的积雪开始融化,混杂着城市的灰尘变成黑色的污泥四处流淌。这是一年里最沮丧的季节,春天在昏暗的天空下一点也没有到来的征兆。也许是为了给自己打气,也许是惦记着我满6个月的奖金和老总承诺的助手,也许是那时的我对生活还充满天真的幻想,我在这个春天即将到来的季节上交了改革总结报告。在报告的最后,我罗列了一堆统计数据来大肆邀功,这些数字当然也带了不少夸大其词的成分,以至于我自己也开始飘飘然起来,幻想着年轻有为的我即将有着多么远大的前途。一个星期后我还没有收到老总的表彰信,但是几个公司新接的项目里却少了几个常见的制片主任和剧务,而多了几个新面孔。两天后所有人都收到了老总一封致全体员工的邮件。这种邮件一般和政治演说没什么区别,基本是大方向大政策的空话,表彰一下大家支持改革的积极态度,宣传一下改革成效,督促众位继续努力。邮件的最后用几句话提及了几位消失的制片主任和剧务,解释了大家因为发展方向上的分歧而决定另谋高就。记得上语文课时我们经常要分析课文,要从表面的字词去研究其中心思想。我确实没想到可以将课文分析用到实际生活中。但是如果让我分析一下老总的这封邮件,应该可以这样解释:公司改革重组非常有成就,效率和利润率有了一定的提高,主要是赚钱了,老总我的钱包鼓起来了,所以大家一定要继续努力,让我的钱包继续膨胀。当然在改革过程中总是有那么几个不听指挥喜欢搞单独行动的家伙,这种行为直接影响了公司的利益,所以已经将他们炒掉了。这也算杀鸡给猴看,那些还对改革心存不满的各位最好在下次递交报告之前三思而后行。当然了,为起到恩威并施的效果,下个星期我做东,大家一起聚餐去吧。26岁的我在生命中第一次真正认识到原来我们的种种行为是有实际后果的,原来各种统计数据的背后是有着一个个鲜活而真实的面孔的。这次被炒掉的一个制片主任中有一个叫Petri的芬兰人,那是个典型的心宽体胖的老好人,虽然他经常反映比较慢,而且手写的便没有任何一个人类能够看得懂。改革后很多程序由手写变成了电子处理,中年危机的Petri经常被电子采购订单搞得焦头烂额,然后精神崩溃的他会带着周围所有的人一起崩溃。我在帮助Petri修改了三次项目结算单后也差点未能幸免。有的时候我甚至怀疑是不是我的英文太差?或者芬兰人和我们的大脑结构完全不同?所以那段时间我一看到新项目的剧组中有Petri的名字就头痛。后来在我赶交改革总结报告的那几个晚上,Petri和其他几个剧组成员也在连夜筹备几个拍摄项目。最后一天晚上10点多,打扫清洁的大妈们带着拖把出现时办公室里还是灯火通明,平时最喜欢搞活动的Brandon啪地合上电脑,跳起来喊道,FxxK it! 都跟我吃饭去!然后不由分说地拉着办公室里剩下的几个人一起去了街对面的法国餐厅。那顿饭是怎么吃的我已经记不得了,但是我却记得Petri是第一个离开的,他那近1米9而且略为发福的硕大身躯站起来之后几乎将法式餐厅里窄小的过道完全挡住,然后他用那非常有志性的胖手在空中划了半个圈,说到,我得走了,大家晚安!我那天有没有跟他道别?我真的记不清了。一个小时后我们分别买单时那个法国帅小伙告诉我,刚才我高大的朋友已经把我的单结了。看着我略微惊讶的脸,Brandon说到,Petri就是这样一个不善言辞的老好人。然后Brandon讲了一个他的故事给我,那年Brandon刚开始跑龙套时总想自己拍点什么项目,于是承接了一个特别低预算的MV,做到一半时才发现还有一半的仪器没着落,而预算已经被他花光了。那时Petri正在拍一个麦当劳的广告,他的拍摄提前了几个小时结束,在接到Brondon几乎哭出来的求助电话后Petri自己开着卡车把剩下的仪器都拉到了MV现场,然后还跟着灯光组架灯光,收仪器,忙了一个整晚上,最后一句话都没有就又把所有仪器拉回广告拍摄场地准备第二天的拍摄。这是十年前的事了。十年后Brandon已经做到了线性制片,而Petri却还是一如既往地做着他的老职位,但是他从没有怨言,而且不论什么样的新人求助,Petri一定全力以赴地将自己无私奉献出来。这就是Petri。Brandon说完这个故事后我突然有种说不出的感觉,好像一个一直低着头赶路的人骤然间停下脚步,然后意识到自己走了那么长的路,却忘记了当初出发时的初衷。咱们做一个数学问,从起点出发,走到成功为终点,中间的距离是多少?如果从书本上来找答案,那么一本讲某个成功人士的书也就200多页,从白手起家到家财万贯,中间的距离是厚约一厘米的200页印刷纸。如果从生活中找答案,那么这一路上有无数的弯路,错路,死胡同;有无数次被人踩,和无数个被踩掉的人;有抉择前的犹豫,有失败时的打击,有拍拍屁股继续前进的勇气。这些真实生活中琐碎的细节,人与人之间无法言喻的关系和情感,还有那鼓舞着我们在逆境中挣扎,在失败中不言放弃的力量,这一切的一切,是只有真实经历过的人才会明白的距离。因为生活的距离,是没有咫尺可以衡量的。而26岁的我,却仍旧拿着那一厘米的距离去衡量自己成功的道路。自以为读书和打工时那么点挫折就是天大的磨难,而现在一脚踏入影视行业,我将会一步登天,伸手摘取成功的宝冠。在等待老总回复的那个星期,我开始收敛自己的张狂和轻浮,并无数次打好了腹稿,准备在老总面前剖心的自我检讨,然后自我升华一下。那个星期五,我忐忑不安地被叫到老总办公室。我们老总原籍是英国人,4岁时全家移民到加拿大。20岁从乔治布朗建筑工科毕业,21岁从老爸的建筑工地逃出,开始在影视圈跑龙套。喜欢做灯光师的他偏偏是色盲,于是无奈转做制片,曾经在北美MTV做过监制,而后在90年代加拿大最大的广告拍摄制作公司Partners任总制片。当年Partners下属公司包括3个非线性剪接公司,2个特效公司,1个创意公司,1个转片场还有1个全套仪器租赁公司。其规模之大,据说圣诞节聚餐时Partners租用的是多伦多会议厅的场地。但是看来天下大事,分久必合,合久必分这句话用在老外身上同样合适。2006年Partners创始人心脏病突发去世,半年内公司内部的冲突和不合已经上升到白热化状态,我们老总就是在这种情况下带了一半的拍摄人员和两个后期公司在2006年底分离了出来。3年后成功的借用之前Partners的运作方式并加以改进,完成了自己总公司旗下8个分公司的完整结构。至此Partners垄断多伦多广告制作行业的神话时代结束。就是这样一个在行业里呼风唤雨的老总,在面试我时曾说,以后这个行业是你们年轻人的世界,当年我们拍片没有数码,全部都是胶片,没有几万块钱根本没指望。现在几百块就可以买到数码相机,一个手提电脑就可以做剪接。在不久的未来这将会是一个完全不同的行业。当时听着这话我突然想起毛主席的那句:“世界是你们的,也是我们的,但是归根结底是你们的。你们青年人朝气蓬勃,正在兴旺时期,好像早晨八九点钟的太阳。希望寄托在你们身上。”6个月后,还是我们两个坐在同一个办公室里,老总递过来一个写着奖金的信封,然后告诉我,这几个月辛苦了。下个星期没什么新的项目,你挑两天给自己放个假,出去轻松轻松吧。这只是个开始,以后的路还长着呢。给你雇助手的招聘启事已经发出去了,等你回来就准备面试候选人吧。老总把这段话说完,我等了一会才意识到,原来这确实就说完了。突然间我准备了一肚子的话却不知道从哪里说起。我看着坐在我对面的这个中年男人,发现原来我一直都没有摆正自己的位置,原来我自以为聪明的自己,和在这个行业里摸爬滚打了20多年的老总中间有着一个无法缩短的距离,这个距离的名字就叫作时间。而我那些所谓的纠结,检讨和升华在时间的面前得不到任何同情和表彰。因为在时间的长河里从来都只有过去时,而没有那个假设幻想或者后悔的空间。于是我有礼貌地接过我的奖金,然后带着最诚恳的语气对老总说,谢谢您这半年来的鼓励和栽培,我一定会继续努力的!换船2011年三月初,上班后第一次光明正大的带薪休假。事实证明女人郁闷的时候确实喜欢花钱。于是休假的第一件事就是换船!去年用了春秋两季的橡皮艇在网上以3成的价钱连带发动机和电池一起卖掉。然后将储存室打扫干净,为新的冲锋艇作准备!这次要买的是我们去年就看好的冲锋艇,仍旧是PVC材质,但是要比之前的橡皮艇厚度增加许多,据说用斧头敲都不会有问。星期六早上天还没亮,我们就出发去乡下采购已经预订好的冲锋艇。这一年春天来得特别晚,三月了还是阴沉沉的天。一点都没有一场春雨一场暖的感觉。途中路过Grand River的一个分支,下车出来走走,试图在空气中寻找到一点能够给我希望的春天气息。难以想象夏天这条河水曾经清澈无比,但是在早春的季节被融化的雪水和泥土一起翻着混浊。我们一起眺望对岸的风景。不知那里的风景是否会比这边更加阳光灿烂?在外面透了点新鲜空气,觉得心情也渐渐开朗起来。加上老公在一旁想方设法地逗我开心那么我也来放松一下吧!生活确实是需要乐趣的,再多的压力和烦恼,笑一笑应该就会消失了吧。不知道是不是天气真的和心情有关,开到取货地点时天居然开始放晴了。好心的卖家在原地把样船支了起来等我们。2千大洋的东西,买之前要好好查看查看。对于汽油发动机我确实纠结了很久,5马力的发动机要比船本身还贵,速度虽然会快很多,但是噪音和气味也是很大的问。思前想后,最后还是决定回去买一个大马力的电力发动机。看的差不多了,没什么可挑的,装货走人吧。换了船之后一连几个星期天气都没有好转,无奈之下只能四处乱逛搜集钓具。路亚竿。碳纤维,重量在中轻左右。竿和卷轴分售,竿50加币,卷轴70加币。继续秀竿。这是2月份过生日公司送的,还是碳纤维,轻竿,很适合我用。竿和卷轴一共350大洋。这里感谢一下我那个不算小气的老总!要是我自己肯定不会去买这么贵的钓竿。。。同上。来张全景的钓竿太费劲了。细节照。秀个鱼饵吧。这家伙去年夏天被白斑狗鱼咬的伤痕累累。这是2011年新购置的,刚买的时候我确实兴奋了很长一段时间。有了这个家伙就我就可以全方位地监视到水下鱼群了。但是事实证明理论和实践还是有着很大的差距的。其实雷达最大的用处是用来测水深和水下的地势,如果地势突然间有巨大改变,或者水下有一棵大木头,大石头,那么有鱼的机会就比较大。最后来张全副武装的老公。这一身实在有点太夸张了。。。 熬到4月初,天气终于开始转暖了。每天上班的日子也在改革步入正轨后开始减缓下来,我在面试了几个助手后锁定在一个漂亮的波斯女孩。4月份第一个星期五,借着中午聚餐的酒劲我把留了半年多的头发剪短了。虽然这说不上是削发明志,但我心里多多少少还是把削发当成了一种志,至于是不是个明智的志,那就只有时间才能证明了。明天一早,我们将会带着新买的电动马达和冲锋艇出航!这次出行太兴奋了。。。完全忘记了拍照,等到我们想起来时船已经准备齐全准备下水了。。。换个角度吧。船长。副船长。一家就两个人,全都是当官的 两个钓竿。第一次出行就钓到白斑狗鱼!估计这位正在晒太阳的兄弟也很羡慕。还有这位海鸟兄弟,不知道它的晚饭有没有着落呢。 我想问这个家伙,你是什么鸟啊!(难得这句话可以说得如此贴切而又不是在骂人。)([]
序: 今年六月间,我攀登了阿拉斯加山脉的主峰麦金利。海拔6193米的北美第一高峰麦金利,位于北极圈附近,气候恶劣,虽然海拔并不高,但攀登的相对高度却超过珠峰,被称为登山家的坟墓,历史上有很多著名登山家在此殒落。麦金利可以说是我所攀登过的山峰最美的一座了,整个攀登期间,共拍了六千多幅照片。 在整理相片时,攀登的情形不时再现,有时,心绪深深陷入在对某张相片的记忆里不能自拔,或悲或喜,宛如第二次攀登。照片本身我不喜欢裁剪或者过度PS,这样能尽量保持原状态。文字虽称诗,但谈不上是诗,最多只是一点心情,望与朋友们分享,更望指教,谢谢~ 另说明:1、此贴不是游记,详细游记《路的尽头》正在写作中,希望能在年底完成,呈现给喜欢的朋友们。2、不是按时间顺序写的,前后秩序有些乱,抱歉~ 今年夏季攀登期间,法国和比利时两个登山家先后在滑坠而亡,痛惜并仅以此贴怀念。死亡,对所有登山者来说,都是必须要学会面对的课。同时,这种死亡也被赋予了另外一种悲壮的美,像一阵鼓声敲打着登山者的灵魂。对于登山者来说,雪山如同永恒的情人,爱有多远,路就有多远~从C3到C4攀登中,遇到刚刚从山上撤下来的登山者,脸上挂满冰碴,沧桑的样子特别悲壮。因为那一阵天气特别不好,得知有的队在山上已经等待了二十九天,还没能登顶,另有两个队员已经滑坠遇难,对所有没能登顶的队员我都心生慈悲,每每遇到他们,都会在心里向失败的登顶者致敬。从C2到C3攀登十分累人,每个人除了自己装备外,还要分摊公用物资,拖着雪橇在漫长而松软的雪上行走,极其艰难。可当我行进到这里,看到队友像狗一样爬行时的悲壮,在这种光与影的氛围中,突然因为卑微而感到做为人的幸运。在那个傍晚,没有黑夜(在这个季节,麦金利只有白天),只有无畏,只有一颗狮子般勇敢的心。快到C3营地时,当一个国外登山者孤独的剪影呈现在我镜头里时,那种温暖的感觉让我想起小时候的家。谢谢母亲。那天下午,在C3营地的帐篷里,我一直看着这哥俩在雪坡上吃力地爬着,雪坡和人都是那样的干净,他们干净的样子让我感动,难以描述,其实,山与人应该可以交融,人本就是自然的一部分~从C3到C4攀登途中,路过这个风口,遭遇强风暴。此前,法国登山家就是在此滑坠的~ 在这里,风暴如此之大,吹得雪坡都起了波痕,让人无法行走,就是站都站不稳,等了一个多小时,风仍不见小,只得再一步步胆战心惊地下撤。从海拔五千多米的山上向下看去,山下一如白色海洋,无声的波涛拍打着堤岸,宛如一曲安魂的歌,听着时,心,无限悲壮~即使远在北极圈附近的麦金利山,人类生活对环境的影响依然明显,雪线也在一天天的消退,让人揪心也让人悲伤。如果连麦金利的雪都消逝了,人类的命运也就开始了倒计时~对山我一直心存敬畏,却一直没有过害怕。我喜欢那种融入和被融入的感觉,虽然前面充满不可预知,但也正因为如此,吸引着我。有时候,你迈出了一步,就会看到另一种人生~有时,走在雪山上,雪山厚重、无言的样子,让我常想起已经离去的父亲,想着小时候,他背我上医院看病的情景。我尝试着与父亲对话,减轻我攀登过程中的疲惫、苦难和恐惧感,更想让他知道我对他的思念。 坐在飞往大本营的小飞机上俯瞰阿拉斯加原生态立体风景,湖畔、草原,白云、群山层次分明,高大的麦金利山巅直入云宵,大地上的一切摄人心魄。看到群山,就想到了一辈子都在山中行走着的父亲。父亲从部队甫转业地方,就被打成了右派。父亲二十年右派最初的生涯是在地质勘探队里挖了几年的槽井中度过的,并落下了矽肺病,最终死于矽肺病引起的哮喘。父亲是个热爱大自然的人,棋琴棋书画无所不通,却生不逢时,郁郁而终。每每看到好的风景,或者登上了山,都想告诉父亲,但,也只能等到来日了。谢谢生我培养我的父亲,一生从没说过一句谎话的父亲!对我来说,对登山的热爱早已超过了对死亡的恐惧,但登山过程中,对那些离去者还是充满了痛惜,对生命本身还是充满悲悯~挑选这幅照片时,恍如一下又回到了当时。那天登顶下撤的过程异常艰难,最后走到大本营时,我双脚一共起了8个大水泡。行进中,袜子和血水粘在一起,每步都疼痛着。现在看着照片,已经不再疼痛,只有梦境般的雄壮和冷~那天沐浴在这样的阳光下,看着雪坡上的那人在蓝色阴影中一点点移动的身形,清风中,细碎的雪花在阳光中轻舞,一切如此美好。然而,人世很短、生命无常,这是无奈,也正是我们要珍惜当下的缘由呀~在雪坡上俯瞰海拔4300米的C4营地,小路上,一个人正在往回走着,还有三三二二的人正在帐篷外晒着太阳聊着天,有的要继续向上攀登,有的则是要下去了,但他们悠闲的样子,轻松、自在。有时候,当你看着这样美丽而清新的营地,就像看着自己曾经呆过的乡村,就像面对才见又要与之分别的情人~一夜大雪覆盖了C3营地,第二天上午的天空中,还在飘着细细的雪,看着眼前的一切,心中一片宁静,有很多的话想要说出来~在四号营地附近,有一个叫着“世界边缘”的地方,举目望去,悲凉的感觉没有尽头,整个时空仿佛都充满着深深的母爱~~这张照片上的文字是在中秋前夕写的,这个世上,我最愧对的,就是我的双亲了。我还没能好好孝顺他们,他们就走了。我经常在梦里梦到他们,每次醒来,枕头边都是湿的。在这里愿意天下所有活着的父母健康快乐~攀登雪山,走累的时候,就想睡觉,那是极度疲惫和高反的表现。看到前面的兄弟走的摇摇晃晃的样子,却无法帮助到他。在山上,一切只能靠自己~一些人走了,一些人却永远留下在了山上。有一些悲伤是短暂的,有些悲伤却很久远。在这个世上,正是因为悲伤,才使我们更加性情,才更懂得珍惜~风暴如此猛烈,横向穿过来,想将我们吹下山去。只有用这种姿势才能站稳,其实说不怕是假的,恐惧的感觉很冷~一场雪,突然而起,不是来自天上,而是从山坡下被风倒灌,吹得人像腾云驾雾一般,冰冷,站都站不稳,人类的渺小和无奈,人类的坚强都在这幅画里了~登山的风险无处不在,每个登山的人都明白,但还是来了,他们登的山,也是自己的梦。登山的时候,他们都是自己心中的山~快到C3营地的最后一个大雪坡,人类的渺小和伟大都在这样背景的映衬下呈现出来了,让我震撼无比。傍晚,两座雪山像两位端坐的老人,冷眼旁观着人世间的一切,冷眼旁观着登山者的一切,几千万年了,他们都是这样端坐着。看懂的人,能感受到他们那晚的慈祥。攻顶成功,下撤到海拔C5营地,晚上一轮明月又大又亮,与太阳余晖共存于长空。看到站在营地崖际间的老罗正在拍摄,面对此景,亲人和家乡的样子也越来越清晰,像流水不息~那天午夜,我目睹了一次太阳落下和太阳升起的过程,我经历了一次阳光将无数星星撒落在雪坡上的震撼。但这里的天空越美,就越让我想着纯朴的家乡——马鞍山~([]

There are many like-minded asking me about it. I now present this thread to briefly tell everybody about my journey.The starting point of this traverse was from the highest peak of the western part of the Tibetan plateau, Jieshan Daban, and the day was April 20, 2010.I was heading eastward passing Bungdag Co, Yanghu Co, Rola Co, and Kangzhagri Mountain, which crossed over the desolate region from west to east. The journey continued northward to enter the unpopulated area of Altun Mountains, through Hoh Xil Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Whale lake, ..., finally met some people by the Aqqikkol Hu and then arrived in Huatugou by vehicle three days later and that day was July 5. It had been 77 days in total. I had been all alone 74 days after leaving Jieshan Daban until arriving inAqqikkol Hu, which was about 1400km and about four months.[The Great Chang Tang] In Tibetan, "Chang Tang" means northern empty wilderness while narrowly, means unpopulated region in northern part of Tibet. However, it actually indiCATes all of the no man's land in northern. The great Chang Tang includes desolate places in Northern Tibet, Hoh Xil, Alun Mountains, and Kunlun Mountains, which are interconnected to form the unique and super empty wilderness in the world. Only because Hoh Xil is the most known name, most people just think this vast land is equivalent to Hoh Xil. In reality, Hoh Xil is only a small piece of the Great Chang Tang both administratively and geologically. The Great Chang Tang, the last land to chase your freedom and dream.The route that I traversed ForeplayI arrived in Tibet in the early March, a couple of troubles bothered me. The brand new plug got its positive and negative wrongly connected; the rivets of my rucksack eASIly got broken from now and again; and a multi-functional charger got damaged and so on. Riding my bike to Ngari for warming up of this journey, lost my rucksack but later got it back; lost my camera bag and got it back later again, and finally lost a big bicycle pannier in the street of Gyangze town under the eyes of police, including clothes, solar panel and so on.Without much choice, I returned to Lhasa to adjust all the stuff I would need in the wilderness. Then I begged some luck by going to Nyingchi to enjoy the blossoms of peach trees and to take a hot spring bath. I even had the privilege to enjoy time with ten girls in the hot spring. I felt my bad luck had all gone and then returned to Lhasa again to prepare going to Ngari. I did not expect that I was cheated on by some hustler and lost some money and delayed my schedule for a week. I had to find a car myself quickly to Nagri. However, I lost the tool for fast-parting my rear wheel on my way to Nagri, where was a remote area in Tibet and nowhere to buy the tool. Even if there was one in Lhasa it would take at least ten days for a special delivery service. I was lucky that my mate Duola asked a driver to bring the tool for me from Lhasa. I thought there should be no more nightmare like this but the nozzle of my brand new multi-fuel stove was broken. The next day I tried everywhere to weld them back together. The first three shops could not do the welding for copper. The fourth one said they could do it but could not guarantee a sUCCess. The engineer said it would be ten Chinese yuans if it was a success. I agreed. Just in seconds, my nozzle became crap in a flash of lightening. I was so upset. Again, Duola helped me by bringing her own MSR oil stove and Dingding's sleeping bag to Nagri. That was already April 16 and I did not have much time to waste. The following day I found a vehicle heading to Jieshan Daban.The sand storm over Yarlung Zangbo RiverA lonely peach tree blossoming in Yarlung Zangbo Grand CanyonNatural hot spring in wild, me singing and drinking (photo by a friend of mine) Day 1(April 20), 16km, Camping 5192mIt was a truck with a full load of iron wastes, arriving in Jieshan Daban at 6'o clock in the morning. It was still night and extremely cold and dark. Driver was not bothered to pop his head out of the driving cab. I climbed up on the top of the iron wastes, taking my bicycle down. In a hurry, I punched my old water bag. Fortunately I had another MSR water bag given by a friend of mine otherwise I would definitely fail without even starting my journey. For the first time for me to set up the brand new tent in strong, cold winds. It would be impossible to do so if the tent was not a whole piece. Extremely cold outside, about -15C, might be lower than that, I put my head into the sleeping bag but was nearly suffocated to death, honestly. The smell of Dingding's sleeping bag was, lol, so extraordinary. I woke up around 11 o'clock. There were still strong winds outside so that I had to use my bodyweight to keep the tent in place. At the time when I just started to cook and eat, four patrolling soldiers approached me. To their surprise someone, in this season, camped in Jieshan Daban. I was so nervous and afraid they were the people to block my journey because I was caught and deported from the desolate land last year. Luckily the four soldiers did not know my destination and were very kind to me. After they left, I immediately packed my stuff and pushed my bike into the depths of the unpopulated area just in case anything unexpected happened.The bike was very heavy due to the provisions and hard to control. There was even a quite small hill that I had to remove my bike panniers to get over it. This really struck me because this happened even the path was still the hardship one at the moment and I could not imagine what I would do once I entered the uncertain, endless wilderness. Until now I had not met anyone, even the nomadic pastoralists. I remembered there were quite a few of them roaming at the edge of the northern Tibetan plateau last year. All of these indicated it was not the good pasture season in such low temperature and strong winds. Around 16km there was a sheep cote, where I passed it last year, east of Lungmu Co. I was exhausted at this point so that I decided to camp in here and to rest my head. After arranging tent everything I went out to look for the wetland discovered by Duola and Liumeng last year. I was determined to find it.There were many hot springs in the wetland which were underground water with a constant temperature. The wetland therefore became an ideal habitat for some fishes and weeds under such harsh weather, which was the very unique land feature of terrain in this over 5200m highland.Perpetual snow in the valley blown to corn shape by strong windsThis wetland was discovered by Duola and Liumeng. The next day rather than continuing to travel, I stayed inside the sheep cote, hesitating and pondering over. Indeed, there were so many problems before this journey;I did not have sufficient physical preparation;the load had already reached its limitation; I still coughed a lot;the weather was so extreme and cold. All in all, I did not think this journey was well prepared and I did not have confidence in completing this journey mentally and physically. To do, or not to do, it was the question. Similarly I did not have confidence in my facilities, not knowing whether all of them would work functionally or not. The fact was one of the rivets got broken again and the front rack came loose. In the afternoon, I replaced all the rivets of the panniers with screws I had prepared before. This was an excellent job I had done which gave me no further troubles throughout my whole journey. I also re-adjusted the front rack. However I did not think it would definitely all right because I did not have a tool to do it. When the darkness descended,I made up my mind to continue my journey, which, of course, was not beyond any imagination. You could hear the gigantic sound of wind if the picture had a sound Day 3 (April 22), 52.4km, Camping 5145mGot up in the morning, could not put everything into the bags. Without much choice I had to throw away three portions of tsampa, elbow pads, and crampons. Following the road of the lead-zinicmine I found the side path to enter the wilderness, which was on the riverbed and very hard to see. I missed this side path last year so that I had to take a short cut into the wilderness directly then. That was why I had taken extra care to find the side path. The following journey was to get over a big hill, which lay 5275m above sea level and was the highest point of my whole journey. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I passed the side path leading to Orba Co and started a journey which was complete strange to me. I ate a piece of pilot breads, which was frozen like rocks so that I had to use my spade to crush it. At 6 o'clock in the evening, I had pushed plus rode my bicycle for about 32 km. I reckoned I should have been able to double this if I did no carry such heavy load. The wind became stronger and stronger. I opened the parasail kits and tested it. The result was far beyond what I expected. With the aid of the strong wind I was just like flying over the wilderness. After 8 o'clock in the evening, I started to observe the water Source and to get ready to camp. Map showed there were successive springs along the path and assembled to puddles. But I had overestimated the water source here in this land and in this season there were endless wilderness inside the valley, where I could not see a single drop of water. As it became darker and darker, I felt a little bit nervous which resulted in three spokes of the parasail broken and became a useless rubbish. Anyway, it helped me to move forward 20km more which benefited me a lot later on. When time approached 9.30 pm, it was almost completely dark. I had to lie my bike on the ground and went on to try to find water on the north side of the valley. This was a wide and flat sandy land, where I could not see any ditches there and further was complete darkness. I returned to get my GPS to look up the contours and found the south part of the valley was closer to a hill so I took the way. Finally I found a piece of ice in a ditch. I smashed about 20litre of ice. The ice was quite shallow scattered with sheep poo. On my way back, my eyes were hurt by strong winds, which got me a couple of days to recover. It was nearly 23 o'clock after I set up the tent. It also took about 40 mins to melt the ice. I was so tired and my appetite was completely spoiled. I then had a little bit of milk. I had never expected thing would go like this, it was so distressing. Streams along the path, ice everywhereThe river flew into Matou Hu, in whose north part there was a satellite lake, a wonderful ice-skating court It took 40mins to melt the ice in midnight Day 4 (April 23), 31km, Camping 5028mA cloudy day with gusts. From now and again, hails chased me from behind. Sunny spell. Heavy sandy land made me have to push my bike. At 3pm, I arrived at Luxing Hu, where there was a house made of clay. This was the last permanent building of my journey. Last year, Duola and Liumeng once lived in this house for three days without meeting anybody. It seemed it was the same but the truck parking in front of the house made me worry about. I went to the sheep cote first to check over, where there were only a few lambs following me everywhere I went later on. This made me feel warm in my heart. I observed farther places using my binoculars but could not see any people or sheeps. After making sure there were no people around I opened the locked door using a screwdriver. The living room was very clean. There were two boxes of beverages on the ground and a string of cured lamb legs hanging over in the interior room. A pot of water was on the top of the stove, lukewarm, which indicated the host must be not far away from his home. I filled up my water bag and left the house. I also put the screws back to the door in order not to leave any trace of my visiting. I then took a spanner from the toolbox of the truck, which gave me great help for the rest of the journey.I left the house as quickly as possible. After last year's experience, the nomadic pastoralists were the last people I wanted to meet. A few hundred meters away from the house, the vehicle traces were fading fast. Even downhill, I had to push rather than to ride because of the heavy loose sand. From the route point of view, only after Luxing Hu it was the real unpopulated land. After many days, I thought of the lamb legs from time to time. It was pity that I then had plenty of provisions and the bike was too heavy to carry anything more. Continue to melt the ice under the morning sunshine, all of the sheep poo had been removed carefullyCamping site, the little hill over there was the place where I got the ice last nightThe house by the Luxing Hu, empty, the last permanent building I saw throughout my journeyDay 5 (April 24), 19.8km, Camping 4951mSet off at 10.30 in the morning, the weather was similar to yesterday. Probably this road was the high plain or somewhere the wind passed so that it was so windy. The average wind speed was degree 6 but could reach degree 9 in the blick of an eye. The road was still full of sand and very heavy to walk on it. My eyes became worse under such harsh weather. About three o'clock in the afternoon, I saw something in my right, looked like antenna. I went closer to see what it was and found out it was an iron tower (the triangulation station). In 1970s, a joint team from Chinese three military regiments entered this area doing research. They have left a lot of triangulation stations and benchmarks, which I had the priviledge to see them today.At dusk, I approached to a spring by the Bungdag Co, which flew into the frozon lake. The sand and soil, brought by the strong wind, scattered on the surface of the ice all over the lake. There were so many cracks around the icey surface of the lake. I geussed it must be caused by the springs under the water rather than by melted ice. In the west of the Bungdag Co was the side path leading to Keriya Pass, where a SUV could reach directly. I had looked out any vehicle Tracks but failed. The cloudy sky started to snow. I set up the tent comfortably because I knew that I was safe having such a sweet spring beside me.Triangulation station erected by scientists from the joint research team on Chang Tang of three military regiments in 1971[size=+0]The gap between water and ice in Bungdag Co, I guessed there must be some springs under the lakeThe storm just above the ground, a chaotic darkness[size=+0]Icy Bungdag Co,one of the four biggest lakes in Northern Tibet, wild ducks flying over this vastness and lonenessSnowing at any time, should not happen so frequently like this in this seasonDay 6 (April 25), 4.3km, Camping 5002mWeathering landforms everywhere around this area. Spongy volcanic rocks could be found easily. I pushed my bike turning around a small hill, seeing a big river, the Yinshui He, flowing from Orba Co into Bungdag Co, which I had been to its upstream last year. It was also a passage for animal migration. The downstream of the river was extremely wide and broad. The thickess of the ice layer could reach one meter with the main stem in the middle course of the river, very deep. There were a few springs along the river, sweet and clear.I only went forward a little bit more than 4km but I had walked more than 20km for finding my way. It was not possible to cross the main stem, let alone the north bank of Bungdad Co. What I could only do was to try to find a shallow place to cross. But the southern area was a even larger piece of wetland and forced the road turn towards west. I spent a couple of hours but failed to find a good point to cross the river. In the afternoon, I decided to follow the edge of the wetland. When I reached the hill foot, the wetland finally disappeared. Around this area, there were clearly volcanic feature of terrain and I even found traces of pasturing and cairns made from volcanic rock.Here was the last pasturing trace I found throughout my journey, I guessed it was a summer pasture area. After this, there was no clear sign of human activities in this vast wilderness. I had been looking for my ways until it was dark. I made up my mind where to go TOMOrrow. The terrain here looked like Yardang landforms, as well as volcanic landforms The Yinshui He river from Orba CoSprings scattered all over the river bank, painted green by lovely algaeThe river was very deep. The mixture of green and amber colour showed the sand and mud carried by the melted iceThick layer of ice, sunken surface caused by strong gustsThe south course of the Yinshui He, countless small streams. To the right was the wetlandLooking for ways in the east, a trace of pasturing and the cairn made from spongy volcanic rocksMy camp, opposite to the hillDay 7 (April 26), 11km, Camping 5009mI moved forward to the direction I found yesterday, turning around the wetland and walking toward east. At 2pm, I was blocked by the zigzag Yinshui He again and I had no choice but to cross it. The river was about 700m wide, covered by ice which appeared very different. The hanging ice, the folding ice, the piling-up ice, the icy puddle, and the sleet were everywhere along the river bank. Having noticed all of these, I reckoned the river would be receding at dusk, which was why there were so many different shapes and forms of ice. I put my slipper on, going into the main stream of the river. I found there were at least three different courses of the river, the thickness of the surface ice varied and the river water reached above my knees. I sighed there would be no way back once I crossed this river. There are many ways in one's life too, you can only take it once and you will no long have the courage to repeat it.I pushed the bike crossing the river. Some of the ice was a bit soft, jamming the tyres so that I had to use my feet to break them first. Some of the ice was a bit thick but with half-melted underneath, sticking the the bike completely, some of the ice was half-water half-ice with a sandy riverbed, which was really hard to pass. I had to remove all of the panniers at the last stage of the crossing. I spent the whole four hours to cross the river, my legs got many bloody cuts. At 6pm, the surface ice was almost disappeared completely, the river level rapidly rising to a chaotic status. I thought if I hesitated a little bit at that time, I could not have the courage to cross this river under such circumstances. The river bank was unimaginably sandy and was quite steep. I had to unloaded the panniers again to reach the top of the bank. By the time of sunset, the weather became exceptionally good. The sunlight from the descending sun, the blue sky, the faint moon, .... Since then I used GPS to check the mileage. The digital thermometer was no longer working. I had to use mercury thermometer to collect data. Night temperatures were basically between –15℃—–20℃ while the temperature inside my tent was about –10℃. The advantage of the integrated tent was that it limited the ventilation so to keep warm inside. However, it got clearly disadvantage of heavy condensation and dew. Every morning, there was plenty of frost inside the tent so that I had to put my hood on First Before fully getting dressed. The winds in Chang Tang finally became consistent with the pattern I had researched the other day no or very tiny wind in the morning, strong wind started after 2pm, and then at around 8pm its strength was reduced again. The accuracy of this prediction was about 80%.The road was very bad today. I walked whole afternoon in an ancient riverbed and it was so difficult that I had to use all of my strengths to move a small step forward and then to stop to breath, slower than a snail. After five hours' struggling, my eyes got wet when I saw the grassy river bank. Finally! The nightmare was over.Cold and clear morningHeavy morning condensation in the interior, a lot of frost to clearSuch dawning sunlight indicated a cloudy day ahead Day 9 (April 28), 18km, 5072mIn the morning I entered a range of sandy roads which were so terrible. The solar panel specially designed for GPS got short circuited. After checking it was found to be the diode got damaged. Luckily I got a replacement. Because the GPS was exclusively supplied by a solar panel so that it was no longer a problem for the power supplement of GPS. In a period of 70 days, I did replace the battery once, which saved me a lot of alkaline batteries. I did have another solar panel of 5.4 W which was used specifically for 7.5V Camera, DV and other digital facilities. Unlike water, I had never been short of power.At 7pm in the evening, I arrived at Pur Co. The surface of this lake was very odd the ice by the river bank rose and the river bank was broken, I reckoned that was due to the strong winds. The ice there was mingled with something yellow, could be the stain of alkali. There were many wild yaks on the other side of the lake. There could be two brown bears but I could not be for certain. On the east side of the lake, there was a peninsula leading to the centre of the lake. I camped just opposite to the peninsula. At night , I smashed the ice to get drinking water, which tasted alkali. For the first time I cooked the cereals, which was brought completely by accident. This was just because I found there was a little bit of extra space when I was in Nagri packing the stuff for this journey so that I bought two packs of cereals. It tasted disgusting, probably there was too much alkali in the water. I threw away half of it. Later I realised that probably I subconsciously felt that the provisions was so heavy. I would rather make it lighter at any cost.Dry all my stuff in the morning sun, a routine matterA faint dusk in Pur CoThe river bank pushed up by ice and opened like zipper by gustsThe pushed up surface of the iceThe place where I got my drinking water, a thin layer of ice behind the ablation corns The moment just before sun set, glittering Pur Co, nothing was the same差点儿没找到俺自己的帖子,原来变色了。多谢各位鼓励。 Day 10 (April 29), 16km, Camping 5141mIn the morning, I walked around the north bank of the Pur Co, where it were continuous ups and downs sprinkled with light yellow sprouts across the sparse grassland. The wild yaks clustered into small groups. All of a sudden, there was a group of five of them running towards me, blowing a huge cloud of dust with the power of thunderbolts,I believed that anyone who did not know the characters of the wild yaks must be frightened to death under such circumstances. The fact was the wild yaks in groups never injured people. Rushing to you just to show you its territory. When they approached people at certain distance, they would turn sharply and run away, and then stopped somewhere high to stare at you. You can not imagine that the wild yaks were very cautious animals compared with its almost one ton of weight. Their first reaction, when meeting people, was to raise their tails, the front hooves rubbing against the ground, the horns pointing forward, the eyes redden, and the long body hair shaking, all of which showed their determination to fight.This was the warning sign that you should retreat. However, you should realise that this was only a gesture that they were afraid of you and wanted to scare you away. The thing was that if you were not afraid of them and moved forward, they would run away in no time. There were only some mad yaks attacking people, which was really rare to happen. In Chang Tang, an experienced driver know that it is very dangerous to pass directly from two or three lonely wild yaks. They always tried to avoid confronting them directly. If this was not possible, they would lit a cigarette, smoking, to wait until the yaks walked away themselves. This was because the wild yaks really could attack vehicles, which was not completely rumors. I once asked them why I had not been attacked. They told me that because my bike was so small they would not be bothered to attack it. My own experience was that approaching a wild yak very slowly, do not look into its eyes, and ignored what it was doing. As long as it moved forward a little bit, just stop and give the yaks a little bit of time to think. Because if you forced the yak, it could be themost dangerous animal in the world and nothing could stop them killing. Even a gunshot could not kill it but only left a small hole in its skin. In the past, the nomads living near this land would use yaks' skin as chopping board which was very much endurable. At noon, I lost my balacLAVA, which was brand new and I had never used it once. I could not be bothered to go back tofind it. This resulted in that I had to have my fleece hat day and night in the rest of my journey, which did not provide fully protection from the sun in the plateau. But somehow I was all right, perhaps because my skin is similar to those of yaks, lol. At around half past one, I found a deserted Jeep, upside down. I felt it could be there for years and it could be the vehicle of someillegal HUNTERs. Nowadays, we have wildlife conservation reserves in Chang Tang and the animals here are well protected. However, some people kills the wild yaks to sell them as the domestic yak's meat. In general, it is worth 10,000 Chinese yuans for a single wild yak. Therefore many people take the risk to make money. They often enter the unpopulated areas to hunt and their activities can reach 200 km in diameter. This is why the wild yaks in the deep wilderness are less afraid of people than thoseat the boundaries of the Chang Tang region.There once happened that a wild yak mother revenged its baby's murder in the Altun mountains. Its horns pierced the killer's chest and held his body over its head for more than ten days, which was very touching.Around 3pm, I walked out of the Pur basin. The next point was Hong Shan Daban and then it was the Yueya Hu by the Toze Gangri. At this time I found a vehicle track from south to north. I checked over but could not find the way where they had gone. I took my map, GPS, and compass, climbing up a small hill to estimate the location of Hong Shan Daban. The mountain was very round and it was hard to find the mountain pass. After determining the location of the Daban, I moved straightforward. When I passed a messy grassland, I saw something that I was reluctant to see more than hundreds of wild yaks' head scattered all over, which was definitely the scene of the illegal hunting. After that it was a very long ancient river bed with soft sand slowly rising until the foot of the mountain.There are some spines on the surface of the tongues of wild yaks, which are used by nomads in this area as combs. They use them from their teens to the time when their hair becomes silver.The deserted Jeep, could be left by illegal hunters years agoThe slaughtered wild yaks with the wheel size heads. Tomorrow's weather must be wonderful, I reckoned Day 11(April 30), 20.4km, Camping 5120mThe surface of the road leading to Hong Shan Daban was very hard, most of them were small rocks, sort of gravels, plus a quite long downhill slope, I pushed my bike more than 20km for the first time after Luxing Hu. The mountain pass was quite flat, just like a broad ridge, it was 5256m above the sea level. Upon arriving at the pass, Toze Gangri of 6356m was in my sight clearly, very much round and there was no back bone like normal snow covered mountains. Most of the snow mountains in Chang Tang looked like this probably it was due to the geological movements. There were quite a few chirus or Tibetan antelopes in the valley but I was not interested in this kind of animals anymore after I witnessed a large scale of migration of such animals last year elsewhere.The herbivorous animals here are very quick to reach its original size of the population, such as wild yaks, chirus, Tibetan gazelle, pika, and marmot. When you go into the depths of the Chang Tang, you could hardly be surpised by the sudden appearance of the chirus because they are so common in here. At this time of year, the chirus have already male-female parted. You could see many pregnant female chirus but hardly see any males. According to recent research, Zonag Co is not the only lake for breeding. There are at least four of them in the whole Chang Tang. Zonag Co, Tuzi Hu, Heishi Beihu, and another lake I can not remember. I think there must be more than four of them and most of the populations do not migrant long way like most people used to think. They generally migrant from south to north between Central Mountains and Kunlun Mountains.The chirus looks very timid but are very curious about outside world. They are not really afraid of people, particularly in the depth of the Chang Tang. The nearest distance we can approach is about 30m. They just stare at you calmly and think who you are and why you move so slow. They would run in front of you. Look like they are afraid of you but the fact is they are playing with you. A man's own character shapes his fortune. This is of course suit for animals too. The chirus are the typical one. They have a super speed and a pair of sharp antlers. If they are crazy, three of them work together could easily kill a wolf. But as you might have known, their antlers are just for fighting to mate with females.Down the Daban there was a very steep and straight road, I tried to ride the bicycle but ended up with falling over. The front rack came loose and one of the pannier flew into valley. The foot of the mountain was the Yueya Hu covered by ice, which was alake full of heavy metal elements. Along the lake bank there were many stark rocks very much weathered, lining up just like castles or houses. This made me stop to investigate what they were from time to time, I did understand they were just rocks though but they were so real like the figures of real people. On of them even made me hide in a ditch, observing them again and again using my binoculars. There were also many black volcanic rocks. All in all, the features of this area were really unusual.Passed over the Yueya Hu, it was an endless ancient lake bed. What my GPS showed was this area was a big lake like tentacles. I looked around, it was endless wilderness without a piece of ice and a drop of water. Roughly, I estimated this lake bed was about 1200 square meters. I had to tell you that Chang Tang was a place where there was no high-resolution map. The marks in the map often were some kind of memory. Just like this ancient lake bed under my feet, may be it was full of water a few years ago. Who knows. Pushing the bike in such an endless lake bed was very easy to get lost. About wildlife (part 1)Declaration Personal experience for reference onlyDangerous wild animals and their threats to human beings are a ever-LASTING subject for those backpackers travelling in the wild.In Chang Tang, for example, there are two kinds of deadly animals, one is wolves and the other is brawn bears. As substitutes, wild yaks and crows might be dangerous to you in some circumstances that I will come back to this a little bit later on. As for how to protect yourself against these dangerous animals, I think the primary point is you do not try to hurt them because the emotions of human and animals are same instinctively. [Wolves]Throughout my journey, I met wolves a total of seven times, in which I confronted them five times. As you might have known that wolves have become more and more solitary animals, it is very rare they live in a large group nowadays. Please allow me off the point a little bit and talk about the ecological problems in Chang Tang. The problem is now not the decrease of the number of the chirus but the imbalance of the whole food chain, more specifically, the number of the animals on the higher trophic levels of the food chain has not yet reached its ideal level which results in this kind of imbalance. Particularly, the pikas and the marmots who have lost their predators rapidly expanse which results in the desertification of Chang Tang. As early as the middle of last century, wolves were the dominant predators in the vast wilderness. They became a threat not only to other preys but also nomads pasturing in this land. Therefore, the then government called on people to cull back the population of the wolves in Chang Tang, which resulted in the current situation directly. The last official record about wolves attacking humans was around 1970s, which happened in Bamaoqiongzong. A team of secientists was surrounded by a group of wolves and they had to shoot them using guns. Of course, at present in Chang Tang, wolves are absolutely lonely.In this traverse, the first time I encountered a pair of wolves, one of them staying in front of me pretending to attack me while the other staying behind me. This is the standard attacking strategy of wolves. First, you should not be nervous which can be easily detected by the predators. Second, you should not retreat even an inch because this means you are the prey rather than the predator. Do not make any large movement, of course you could take a picture if you feel safe to do so. You must look into its eyes for a few minutes or even half an hour. When the wolves can not work out who you are and consider you are not posing any danger to them, then they will leave. You should remember that wolves in this land do not lack of food and it is much easy for them to catch a pika than a human. Even if being hungry, they would evaluate how easy to get you done, What you need to do is to show them that you are not interested in them and you are not afraid of them at all, let alone to show your ID card to them. As for the wolves family, really, I have not heard for ages. If you really have an encounter with them and they have no other choice, then it definitely depends on your forture. In fact, for so many year, it has been very rare to happen that wolves kill human. But the rumours are still there, in particular, the road connecting Xinjiang and Tibet.The nearest encounter with a wolf throughout my journey, no conflict at all[Brown Bears]Brown bears are real dangerous animals to human. Every year there are some accidents happened in some regions of Xinjiang on the north side of Kunkun Mountains and steppes in Northern Tibet. More than that the bears could attack your house, smash your windows, and eat your sheep. Therefore, in Northern Tibet some local councils give subsidies to the pastorarists for compensating the losses due to the bears because they are not allow to fight back and kill the bears except their lives are in great danger. Once there was a nomad taught me a method to protect yourself from bears. He told me to pick up a stick to feed the bear and the bear thinks the stick is your hand which tastes disgusting. So the bear would leave. It was so funny but the reality is to find a stick in this vast wilderness is just like you win the lottery.Bears are omonivorous animal who are generally not interested in human flesh. You can find that in most of accidents, the bears did not eat any of the human flesh rather they just smashed them for kind of fun that we could not understand. For the reason why bears kill human, one explanation is the conflict between human and wildlife in this extreme ecological environment. The nomads invade the habitats of the bears, which results in these conflicts. On the other hand, it might be because bears have quite high IQ so that they think it is much easy to kill a sheep in the cote rather than to kill a pika in the wild.I have met bears five times in my traverse, in two cases we were very close to each other. I had even walked with one of them for quite a while, just like we had a date for a walk. The fact is it is not that terrible like you might imagine. The same rules for dealing with wolves apply to bears. Never provoke dangerous animals. A bear can run at a speed of 40km/h, do you think you can compete this in a highland 5,000m above sea level?However, there is a situation where it is really dangerous, that is the encounter. It is not easy to control your instinctive reaction to the external dangers. Last year once I turned around a hill, there was a bear just in front of me. The bear of course was frightened by me with its front legs holding up, waving in the air and roaring. At that time I sat on the ground, ignoring it. The bear then left in a few minutes. I will no longer talk about it.This was the funniest encounter with a solitary wild yak, who did not warn me. If I sat down, it sat down too. If I moved forward, it stopped. Could not imagine what it was thinking about.[Crows]Crows are dangerous only when you fall unconscious in the wilderness. Of course they will be the first to taste your flesh in that case. Unlike their cousinsliving in urban areas, the crows in Chang Tang have a larger body like eagles. When they fly over your head, you could feel like it is a piece of cloud. They are scavengers but like fresh meat too. It once happened that a baby was killed by crows relentlessly, let alone the lambs got killed by them. Once a nomad asked me for fireworks to scare the crows away. (They are sacred birds not to be killed by human)It is easy to defend yourself against crows, that is to keep fighting, never fall in the wilderness.A short break attracted the crows. Of course, they were miscalculating this time, photo taken last year[Strategies Adopted]At the time when I met the four soldiers in Jieshan Daban, they said there were many dangerous animals in the Northern Tibet and asked me if I had brought a shotgun. I think if they knew that I would enter Chang Tang they would definitely check if I really have a shotgun. The so-called defence facilities I brought with me were the fireworks and pepper spray. I had never used them. The fireworks were ruined and thrown away when I crossed a river and I had never opened the pepper spray. I even had never thought about this when camping in the night. The reason was I did not feel the needs. During the day time whenever I met any animals I had never touched the knife I had brought. I did not have anything to defend myself when I walked out to investigate the route. The Chang Tang is really a vast area so as to be very easy to detect anything strange.By the way, you'd better to avoid mating season's animals because even tamed rabbits could be aggressive in mating season.The thing is even if you have a gun, it is not very much helpful when bears attack you. Therefore, your attitude is most important.I can tell you something. Dogs are more dangerous than these wild animals. I had been chased by Tibetan dogs, pounced on by dogs in mating season, also besieged by a group of dogs. I really feel it is more useful to know how to defend a dog.Declaration again The above experience is from Chang Tang only. Of course, the more you prepared, the better. Day 12 (May 1), 23.8km, Camping 5117mToday was May 1 -- the Labour Day, I had been walking in some lake area marked in the map but clearly dried up. The lake basin was flat and hard so that I even pushed my bike more than 20km. Let it be the special treat for my May Day. After midday it became cloudy with growing winds. Since the Yueya Hu that I passed yesterday, there were no big lakes until Yanghu Co (My route would be between Jianshui Hu and Bairab Co), there was even no light alkaline water to drink so I had to pay extra attention not to miss any possible drinking water supply to fill up my water bag. There were a few very small lakes but all were alkaline puddles which was very shallow, whose depth was no more than the length of a half-finger. These puddles were covered with a hard shell of the mixture of salt and ice which smelled stinking and decaying when getting closer, must be toxic water I supposed. On the shore of this type of small lakes it was muddy soil and very hard to get closer.There was no sign of tundra at all.It was almost half past six when I found some snow corns in a ditch, which was the only drinking water supply of the day. There was a thin layer of melted ice on the surface of the ground near the snow corn, which was very hard to collect and was contaminated by the alkali. The snow corn was the yet melted thick snow, which was shaped like a corn by wind. The snow was quite hard and dry,porous like ice. I crushed a few snow corns, putting them into the water bag.They would be my drinking water tonight. These snow corns were the only one in today's wilderness, I reckoned the reason why they were not melted like others was the soil underneath contained large amount of ice blocks which acted as a freezer.Very strong gale in the night, it was hard to bear the sound of the vibration of the tent. Small single tent was good in the sense that it would not be blown away as long as you stayed inside. But you had to be very careful to set up the tent. I once did not pay much attention when doing so, the tent was blown away by winds, and rolling over like a Giant lantern ... I ran after it, got it back, and was exhausted. In general, it is not possible to fix the tent completely using tent pegs because they were not very much effective like large tents. It was snowing around 23 o'clock, the winds were howling from north,then the falling snow flakes landed on my tent quietly, I finally felt at peace and fell asleep. The flat ancient lake basin, assisting me walking more than 20kmSmall lake en route, toxic waterSnow corns, the only drinking water supply today Day 13 (May 2), 0km, Camping 5117mWaking up in the morning and opening the tent, the heavy snow outside must be sent by the God to force me have a break for the May Day. After lying in for a while, getting up and walking on the snowy ground out I went to have a look around. As first sight there were a herd of chirus. They were plainly to be spotted because they looked like a clear black straight line in the while snow. I returned to get my camera and then followed them to take some pictures. But they were very much alert and kept a quite long distance from me. I felt they were a group of pregnant females, instinctively protecting themselves from any potential harm. I was no longer short of water, the snow gave me a precious supply of drinking water. The problem was that they were very petrol consuming. I tool 8.6 litre of petrol and the oil stove was Duola's MSR. The pot was of 1.5 litre, mainly for boiling water. After several days' experiments, I found that the liquid water needed 16mins and 14-15mins to boil in the morning and evening, respectively. For ice, it would take 35-40mins while for snow it took 45-50mins. Melting snow was a very time and petrol consuming process so if I had a choice between snow and light alkaline water, most of time I would go with the latter. Lying inside the tent, listening to musics,I smoked a cigarette while gazing at the more and more chirus around me. Because it was very cold I had been wearing my shoes all the time. Now I just put my bare feet under the warm sun for some fresh air. I found three cuts in my hands and one in my sole. The cuts were about 4cm in length, looked terrible but it was actually all right really. Half of my toes were injured by to much walking, quite painful. I fetched my medicine bag and found I only got four patches of plasters, a serious mistake. One of the cuts in my hand had never been cured until I was out of this desolate land so as to feel like this finger would drop from my hand at any time. The others quickly recovered in a few days then new cuts appeared elsewhere. This process occurred periodically. I felt that it was somewhat related to the cold, dry weather and the lack of vitamins. The snow rapidly disappeared, which is unique phenomenon in Chang Tang. Because of the low air humidity and the high radiation from the sun, the snow was evaporating very fast, much quicker than the melting speed. Owing to this, the ground was generally still dry after the snow disappeared. In most cases, it would be only 2/5 left in the afternoon around 2 to 3 o'clock and small patches of ground could be seen. It would be completely all right for walking the next day. On the third day there could be some snow left in somewhere the sunlight hard to reach. So generally it could give you three days of water supply after a heavy snow like this. One of the pannier was broken, the most expensive one from deuter series, supposed to be waterproof. I will come back to it at some point later.
