人在旅途野味丁烦闷的日子里总想写首诗送给你却总是静不下心于是带着你遥远的祝福踏上川流在风景线中的列车在你生活的海洋中去寻找温馨的港湾 2012年10月烦闷的一天,突然决定去离我较近的桂林、阳朔去走一走,于是,打好包,下午说走就走... 午饭后,在广东连南瑶族自治县的广场上了去连山的车,准备在那里再转车去广西贺州,那里车多好拦车。 下车后在连山一家小店买了瓶饮料,问了年轻貌美的女店主还有没有去广西贺州的车,她说还有(所有去贺州方向的车都要经过她店铺门口),她让我在她店门口等,说很快就会有车来,还给我一把椅子让坐下来等... 在等待过程中我开始找话和她聊天,得知她原来还在东莞某房地产公司做过中层管理,是个白领。我原来在深圳可是呆了18年,珠三角地区几乎跑遍了,自然我们有话聊了。那女孩是连山本地人,家人为了催她回家结婚,才逼她回来家乡的,小县城没有什么好工作可做,就自己开始了创业,开了一间专门卖阳江刀的小店,由于位置偏,生意不好做,加上男朋友又不顾店,喜欢打麻将,使得女孩十分苦恼,对前途感到渺茫,不知如何是好。她告诉我,在东莞追她的成功男人很多...偏偏回到家乡找了个不争气的男友。我留下了她的手机号码,想进一步和她联系,车也来了,我上了去贺州的车,准备在贺州扎营,第二天再坐车去阳朔的,可是上了车,计划全变了...因为又发生了一个故事... 车在傍晚7点多钟到了贺州车站,我在最后下车,下车后有个女孩站在大巴车门口突然问我"你下一站去哪里"?我说"我先去找个地方扎营,然后,第二天再转车去阳朔"。"那你去不黄姚古镇啊"?那女孩问我。我说"我没有打算去黄姚古镇"。我心想,你不会是拉客的吧!?她说"你可以先去黄姚古镇,然后再去阳朔啊"!我说"我没去过,不知离这里有多远,而且天黑了又没有公交车去了,打的士会很贵的"。那女孩说"我一看你上车背那个包就知道你是个资深驴友,我也是玩户外的,我家就在住在黄姚古镇附近"。我听那女孩这样一说,我立刻化解了对她警惕性,于是,我就和她聊开了... 原来那女孩是回家来参加堂弟的结婚大喜事,以前经常带驴友去她家扎营,那女孩人很热情,又在大巴车上认识一个中途在路上上车的一个来南方"漂泊游荡"的新驴,之所以说他是新驴,是因为那男孩第一次出远门玩"户外",让朋友在网上花了600元把帐篷、睡袋、背包、防潮垫全部买好了。后来,在我的指导下又重新买了个背包。后面细说。那女孩把那男孩叫过来跟我认识时,那男孩手里拖着一个行李车,到我身边一细看,行李车上拖着的是一个户外包。我见他的第一句话便是"我还没有见过拖着户外登山包玩户外的。 那男孩姓林,让我们叫他"小林"。我问小林去不去黄姚古镇,他说,他听我的。然后,我问了那女孩,包车去需要多少钱,问到车价格合算的话,我们就去,结果,问到一个顺路要回家的黄车司机,约30元一个人,于是,我们三个人就上了去黄姚古镇方向附近的私家车,那私家车为了多赚钱,又拉了二个上来,一部小车就这样挤进了5个人。在路上,我问女孩怎么称呼她,她说叫她百合书好了。在聊天过程中,既然得知百合书认识我一个深圳登协一个领队班一起参加培训的同学"风景",真是无巧不成书啊!天下如此之小。于是,我们聊得更加投缘... 晚上,我们到了百合家里。百合书说明天一大早天不亮就要起来带我们走山路徒步二小时去黄姚古镇逃票进去。 这个左面的女孩就是百合书,我们去黄姚古镇的徒步路上,还有小林... 百合书带我们成功逃票进了黄姚古镇后,还要忙着去找她妹妹一起赶集市采购食品回家办酒席,就交待了我回程的线路有二条,一条是坐车弯路绕道回去,还有一条就是原路徒步翻山返回。我和小林一直逛到下午就早早地徒步返回。 介绍一下小林小林家在吉林,家族做药品生意,由于不好做,生意萧条就出来到南方走走,完全没有目的性,买到广州的火车票在韶关就下火车了,去了南华寺、丹霞山后,又边走边搭车到了连州,准备往广西方向走,走在路上累了就随手拦截到了,我和百合书同坐的大巴车,我是倒数第二个中途上车的,小林是最后一个上车的。 我和小林下午从古镇回来后,上到我们扎营的二楼平顶上吃惊发现,我的帐篷被鞭炮炸出来5、6个小洞,仔细检查才发现都是帐篷门帘处烧坏了,不影响我的行程和野外露营,这事情我也没有告诉百合书,我是沾了她家的喜事了。 又在书家楼顶上露了一晚上,第二天一大早百合书的爸爸用摩托车拉我和小林,分两次把我们拉到十几公里的路边去搭车到阳朔,还把司机师傅的电话号码告诉了我,在此,我借此机会向热心的百合书和她朴实的父亲深深道个谢!感谢一天二夜在她家的吃住和热情接待... 序4天半,360公里骑行,对于一个未满9岁的孩子来说,绝对是一个很有难度的挑战。出发之前,我很是担心,他能不能骑得下来。我都做好了,能骑多远算多远的准备。他自己在出发前,也曾动摇,害怕自己骑不下来。我小看了他,他也小看了自己。人的潜能是无限的,当他把骑行当做快乐,把每一次休息看做愉悦,一切都变得如此的自然。当我们骑行在广袤的高原上,无边的深蓝的青海湖边,骑行在望不到尽头的公路上,如人在画中游,我们忘却了艰难、困苦,舒服的享受大自然给予我们的恩赐予。在路上,小家伙一直在罗列,这次旅行中,他所经历的许多许多的“人生第一次”。在路上的收获,课堂上是永远学不到的。读万卷书行万里路,都是同等的重要。回来后,胡乱整理下我们出行的点点滴滴,留给小家伙做为未来的回忆。 先介绍一下故事的主人公,左起:楼主本人,老杨(楼主的爱人)、豆豆(故事的主角,楼主的儿子)、自留地、龙行 故事就从西宁开始讲起吧!2013年8月20日星期二晴早晨起来,“自留地”大哥就和我商量,咱们今天可不可以改变一下计划,如果到西海镇时间早,租了车,我们就往前骑一段,不用在西海住了,豆豆年纪小,怕跟不上大人的步伐,能往前赶一段是一段,怎么样?我们的原计划是在西海镇租了车,然后去“两弹纪念馆”和“王洛宾音乐艺术馆”看看。老大哥这样的建议也很不错,如此中肯,还考虑了豆豆。既然这样,抓紧时间出发吧!连早饭都没来得及吃,就直接在宾馆的马路对面,坐3路公交赶往长途汽车站(终点站)。当我们排队买票的时候,不断的有人问我们,去塔尔寺吗?去青海湖吗?到西海没车,路不通了,坐我的长安车吧!看着那一张张朴实的紫色的脸膛,似乎真的想相信他们说的每一句话都是真的。请不要相信他们,去西海的车多多,每20分钟一班。买了票,还有20多分钟出发。吃早餐也来不急了,就在车站外面买了点奶和饼干充饥。刚一上车,司机就问我们,是去环青海湖吗?联系好租车的地方没有?对于这种,我一般的方式就是告诉他,我已经联系好了。确实也是提前联系好了的,出行之前,我喜欢把行程安排好,出发前费点心,路上少操心,减少不必要的麻烦。车出西宁城,最先吸引我们眼球的是多巴清真大寺。虽然对它不是很了解,但它那金灿灿的圆顶,直指苍穹的新月,足以说明它在当地的重要性。多巴还有一个让人钦佩的地方——青海多巴国家级高原体育训练基地。当时只是远远的看到山坡上有些房子,并不能看出它的特别来。后来才知道,我国著名的竞走教练王魁、中长跑教练马俊仁先后带领国家竞走队,国家中长跑队来此训练,并从这里把许多人送上了世界冠军的领奖台。不知什么时候,豆豆已经靠在他老妈的怀里睡着了。我也闲上眼睛,随着车儿的节奏慢慢睡着了。“到了,没有租车的,可以在这里下车,可以租自行车。”!司机的喊声,把我从梦中拉了回来。“到了吗?”我问。旁边有人告诉我:“到西海镇了,这是个租车点,还没到车站呢?”“哦”西海镇——青海省海北藏族自治州州府新址,位于湟水源头、海晏盆地的金银滩草原,原系我国第一个核武器研制基地,这块鲜为人知的神秘禁区,孕育了新中国第一颗原子弹、氢弹。1995年,这个核武器研制基地全面退役,移交当地政府安排利用。下车了,马上给自行车骑兵营打电话,早已在网上听各位骑友表扬他们很多次了。(联系人:余西海联系电话:13897109209QQ1435973641)尽管西海镇上还有许多租车的地方,既然大家都选择他们,一定有他的长处。所以我们也顺应潮流,义无反顾的选择了骑兵营。他们接到电话后,让我们在原地等一会儿,他们马上来车接我们。十分钟不到,一辆贴有骑兵营的旅行车停在我们面前。上车,车在“中国原子城”里转了起来。街道干净,布局规整,一点也不像城市,更像解放军的部队大院,这是它留给我的第一影响。这里还保留了一尊毛主席挥手的汉白玉石雕,与成都天府广场的一模一样。这在全国已经不多见了。走进骑兵营的大门,就像是进入了一个自行车的世界,各种各样的自行车有几百辆吧,价格从50-90元/天不等,选择的余地很大。选车的、还车的真不少。店子里的几个年轻小伙子忙得不亦乐乎。老板也不说多雇几个人,呵呵。。。。。。经过小伙子一番介绍,我们决定选择70元/天的车。“龙行”大哥建议,我们统一选择红色的车车,这样,在路上,一眼就能看出我们是一个火红的团队。已经12点过了,抓紧时间吧。看中一辆,把它从车群中提出来,推到院子里,骑上一圈。不行,换一辆再试。选车、选头盔、装驮包、办手续。。。。。。有点手忙脚乱的味道了。豆豆呢,看见大人们在选车,也着急起来。嚷嚷着:“我的车呢?我骑那一辆呢?”来之前,怕骑兵营没有儿童车,还专门问过他们。想着要是没有,还得把小家伙的儿童车抬到西海来呢。结果人家这里什么都有。豆豆一眼就相中了那辆和他自己坐骑一模一样的吉安特,急着让我帮他提出来,推到院子里撒欢去了。他老妈和我觉得,这车对他来讲,有点小了。跟他商量,换一辆大一点的车。小家伙可不高兴了,撅着小嘴,推着他的爱车往里走。当他把那辆大一点的车,推到院子里来,骑上去,在院子里转了两圈后,那可爱的笑容又回到那稚爱的脸上。一下子冲到我们面前,停下来:“就这辆了,比开始那辆骑着舒服!”啰啰嗦嗦的,直到下午2点,一切收拾妥当,问清线路,离开骑兵营。出发!我们的环青海湖就开始了?是不是有点突然或是还有点什么事呢?“咕,咕,咕。。。。。。”肚子提意见了。从早晨到这会儿,就只垫了个底,还没正式吃饭呢。“找地方吃饭,找地方吃饭!”在街上胡乱找个馆子,填饱了肚子。每人买了两瓶水,再买了点水果。15点,这回真的出发了。沿着大道开始了略显仓促的环青海湖骑行。我们已经在路上了。。。。。。环湖东路,今天的目是湖东种羊场,全程43公里。刚一踏上环湖东路,两旁矗立的路灯上的骑行志,就告诉我们初创于2002年7月的环青海湖国际公路自行车赛对此处的影响很大,此处也成为所有户外爱好者骑行的圣地。在环青海湖自行车旅游起点的志前,大伙兴奋得不行,停下来不停的拍照。对骑车经过身边的骑友树起大姆指,大声音的为他们加油。走吧!就着蓝天白云,我们也出发。虽然路面起伏,有些坡度,但这并不是问,刚刚起步,体力好着呢。豆豆穿着他蓝色的冷锋衣,没有扣拉丝,那蓝色的战袍在风中飘逸,追风少年来了,没有一点赶路的疲惫,在他脸上只能读出兴奋与激动。一直骑在他的左侧,对小家伙形成一个保护!上坡的时候,不时的为他加油。其实坡不是很陡,缓坡。但在海拔3000多的地方,对于第一次上高原的豆豆来讲,也算是个小小的挑战吧!“加油,不累吧!”虽然大口大口的喘着气,小家伙仍然不服输:“没事,我能行,上了坡就休息!”也谈不上什么节奏,上坡完了休息,等“自留地”和“龙行”两位大哥慢慢的爬上来。见到风景好的地方,就停下来撒欢,玩够了,又跨上“战马”飞驰。1个多小时过后,我们已经战胜了两个垭口,小家伙上第二个垭口的时候,有些畏难情绪,刚到一半就要求休息。一停下来休息,小家伙就不停的要给我们拍照,也摆出各种POS让我们给他拍照。起风了,虽然是平路和下坡居多,但是顶风骑行,真是增加了不少的难度。路上过往的车辆多了起来,而且车速很快。迎面而来的大货,在身旁呼啸而过,一股强大的气流扑来,人和车都要晃几晃。害怕豆豆顶不这样强大的气流:“豆豆,控制好自己的车,靠边点骑!”一边在他的左侧保护,一边大声的告诉他。远远的,看到公路左侧的远处,有几座连绵起伏的沙丘。“豆豆,快看,沙漠,你看,我们面前的草场,如果不加以保护,也会变成沙漠的!”呵呵。。。。。。给小家伙上一点点环保课。“嗯嗯,我看到了!我第一次看到沙漠呢!”小家伙似漠不关心般的回应着我。18点,当我们到达金沙弯景区的时候,他发现,路边的草场都不见了,无数的沙丘就在公路两边。小家伙主动要求停下车来,走进沙丘,捧起一把沙子,让它多自己的指间滑落。在夕阳,一个蓝衣少年,站在沙漠的边缘,一双小手空隙中的沙子,随风飘落。很有些意境。时光就如同他手中的细沙,悄悄的从我们的手间、指间、身边。。。。。。溜走了。或许等他能再次触摸这黄沙的时候,已是年轻的小伙,或是已过中年。也会如我这般,陪着自己的孩子,看他手中的流沙。我们打听了一下,到湖东种羊场还有多久?路人告诉我们,很快了。小家伙有些累了,一听快到了,立马催我们抓紧时间赶路。又往前赶了一段,小家伙可能是真的很累了,不断的问我们,要到了没有。于是,我们只好停下来,在路边休息。夕阳已经下到山那边去了,天空依然还是那样的湛蓝,如纱般的白云在大幕中尽情的表演。天空下,几个骑不动了少年,推着自行车,排成一排,向天际走去。已经到了19点了,怎么还没到呢?大伙心里都没底。这时,对面过来一辆摩托车,“你好,到湖东种羊场还有多远?”“不远了,5公里就到了!你们要住宿不,就住我们家吧!”原来是拉客的,“我们到了再看吧!”“好!”那人塞给我们一张简易的名片,印着他的电话,“要住宿就打我电话!”然后,骑着车去我们后面拉客了,没多大一会儿,就看他们上来了,后面还拖着一辆拖车,当然是骑不动了的家伙被他们捡了回来。“豆豆,还能坚持不?只有5公里就到了呢!”小家伙很坚决的回答:“我能行!”加油,快到了。才骑上车没走多远,又来了两拔拉客的,一个骑着自行车,陪着我们骑,与我们套近乎。另一个则骑着摩托车,跟着我们。对于他提出的问,我们的答复都是一样,到了,看看再决定住在谁家。20点,刚进入那湖东种羊场的小镇,小家伙就着急的让我去看住宿了,他真的累了。这里的住宿条件真的不是很好,看了几家,终于找了一间有5个铺位的房间安顿下来。那屋里有一股很大的味道,让人不是很舒服。没有洗漱的地方,更上人难过的是,上厕所也非常不方便。来之则安之,将就一夜。累了一天,小家伙对吃晚饭,没有在家那般的挑剔。真的是没饿得好,我看啊,饿了,什么都能吃得下去。一直到深夜22点,大家才拖着一天的疲惫躺下。([]
序: 今年六月间,我攀登了阿拉斯加山脉的主峰麦金利。海拔6193米的北美第一高峰麦金利,位于北极圈附近,气候恶劣,虽然海拔并不高,但攀登的相对高度却超过珠峰,被称为登山家的坟墓,历史上有很多著名登山家在此殒落。麦金利可以说是我所攀登过的山峰最美的一座了,整个攀登期间,共拍了六千多幅照片。 在整理相片时,攀登的情形不时再现,有时,心绪深深陷入在对某张相片的记忆里不能自拔,或悲或喜,宛如第二次攀登。照片本身我不喜欢裁剪或者过度PS,这样能尽量保持原状态。文字虽称诗,但谈不上是诗,最多只是一点心情,望与朋友们分享,更望指教,谢谢~ 另说明:1、此贴不是游记,详细游记《路的尽头》正在写作中,希望能在年底完成,呈现给喜欢的朋友们。2、不是按时间顺序写的,前后秩序有些乱,抱歉~ 今年夏季攀登期间,法国和比利时两个登山家先后在滑坠而亡,痛惜并仅以此贴怀念。死亡,对所有登山者来说,都是必须要学会面对的课。同时,这种死亡也被赋予了另外一种悲壮的美,像一阵鼓声敲打着登山者的灵魂。对于登山者来说,雪山如同永恒的情人,爱有多远,路就有多远~从C3到C4攀登中,遇到刚刚从山上撤下来的登山者,脸上挂满冰碴,沧桑的样子特别悲壮。因为那一阵天气特别不好,得知有的队在山上已经等待了二十九天,还没能登顶,另有两个队员已经滑坠遇难,对所有没能登顶的队员我都心生慈悲,每每遇到他们,都会在心里向失败的登顶者致敬。从C2到C3攀登十分累人,每个人除了自己装备外,还要分摊公用物资,拖着雪橇在漫长而松软的雪上行走,极其艰难。可当我行进到这里,看到队友像狗一样爬行时的悲壮,在这种光与影的氛围中,突然因为卑微而感到做为人的幸运。在那个傍晚,没有黑夜(在这个季节,麦金利只有白天),只有无畏,只有一颗狮子般勇敢的心。快到C3营地时,当一个国外登山者孤独的剪影呈现在我镜头里时,那种温暖的感觉让我想起小时候的家。谢谢母亲。那天下午,在C3营地的帐篷里,我一直看着这哥俩在雪坡上吃力地爬着,雪坡和人都是那样的干净,他们干净的样子让我感动,难以描述,其实,山与人应该可以交融,人本就是自然的一部分~从C3到C4攀登途中,路过这个风口,遭遇强风暴。此前,法国登山家就是在此滑坠的~ 在这里,风暴如此之大,吹得雪坡都起了波痕,让人无法行走,就是站都站不稳,等了一个多小时,风仍不见小,只得再一步步胆战心惊地下撤。从海拔五千多米的山上向下看去,山下一如白色海洋,无声的波涛拍打着堤岸,宛如一曲安魂的歌,听着时,心,无限悲壮~即使远在北极圈附近的麦金利山,人类生活对环境的影响依然明显,雪线也在一天天的消退,让人揪心也让人悲伤。如果连麦金利的雪都消逝了,人类的命运也就开始了倒计时~对山我一直心存敬畏,却一直没有过害怕。我喜欢那种融入和被融入的感觉,虽然前面充满不可预知,但也正因为如此,吸引着我。有时候,你迈出了一步,就会看到另一种人生~有时,走在雪山上,雪山厚重、无言的样子,让我常想起已经离去的父亲,想着小时候,他背我上医院看病的情景。我尝试着与父亲对话,减轻我攀登过程中的疲惫、苦难和恐惧感,更想让他知道我对他的思念。 坐在飞往大本营的小飞机上俯瞰阿拉斯加原生态立体风景,湖畔、草原,白云、群山层次分明,高大的麦金利山巅直入云宵,大地上的一切摄人心魄。看到群山,就想到了一辈子都在山中行走着的父亲。父亲从部队甫转业地方,就被打成了右派。父亲二十年右派最初的生涯是在地质勘探队里挖了几年的槽井中度过的,并落下了矽肺病,最终死于矽肺病引起的哮喘。父亲是个热爱大自然的人,棋琴棋书画无所不通,却生不逢时,郁郁而终。每每看到好的风景,或者登上了山,都想告诉父亲,但,也只能等到来日了。谢谢生我培养我的父亲,一生从没说过一句谎话的父亲!对我来说,对登山的热爱早已超过了对死亡的恐惧,但登山过程中,对那些离去者还是充满了痛惜,对生命本身还是充满悲悯~挑选这幅照片时,恍如一下又回到了当时。那天登顶下撤的过程异常艰难,最后走到大本营时,我双脚一共起了8个大水泡。行进中,袜子和血水粘在一起,每步都疼痛着。现在看着照片,已经不再疼痛,只有梦境般的雄壮和冷~那天沐浴在这样的阳光下,看着雪坡上的那人在蓝色阴影中一点点移动的身形,清风中,细碎的雪花在阳光中轻舞,一切如此美好。然而,人世很短、生命无常,这是无奈,也正是我们要珍惜当下的缘由呀~在雪坡上俯瞰海拔4300米的C4营地,小路上,一个人正在往回走着,还有三三二二的人正在帐篷外晒着太阳聊着天,有的要继续向上攀登,有的则是要下去了,但他们悠闲的样子,轻松、自在。有时候,当你看着这样美丽而清新的营地,就像看着自己曾经呆过的乡村,就像面对才见又要与之分别的情人~一夜大雪覆盖了C3营地,第二天上午的天空中,还在飘着细细的雪,看着眼前的一切,心中一片宁静,有很多的话想要说出来~在四号营地附近,有一个叫着“世界边缘”的地方,举目望去,悲凉的感觉没有尽头,整个时空仿佛都充满着深深的母爱~~这张照片上的文字是在中秋前夕写的,这个世上,我最愧对的,就是我的双亲了。我还没能好好孝顺他们,他们就走了。我经常在梦里梦到他们,每次醒来,枕头边都是湿的。在这里愿意天下所有活着的父母健康快乐~攀登雪山,走累的时候,就想睡觉,那是极度疲惫和高反的表现。看到前面的兄弟走的摇摇晃晃的样子,却无法帮助到他。在山上,一切只能靠自己~一些人走了,一些人却永远留下在了山上。有一些悲伤是短暂的,有些悲伤却很久远。在这个世上,正是因为悲伤,才使我们更加性情,才更懂得珍惜~风暴如此猛烈,横向穿过来,想将我们吹下山去。只有用这种姿势才能站稳,其实说不怕是假的,恐惧的感觉很冷~一场雪,突然而起,不是来自天上,而是从山坡下被风倒灌,吹得人像腾云驾雾一般,冰冷,站都站不稳,人类的渺小和无奈,人类的坚强都在这幅画里了~登山的风险无处不在,每个登山的人都明白,但还是来了,他们登的山,也是自己的梦。登山的时候,他们都是自己心中的山~快到C3营地的最后一个大雪坡,人类的渺小和伟大都在这样背景的映衬下呈现出来了,让我震撼无比。傍晚,两座雪山像两位端坐的老人,冷眼旁观着人世间的一切,冷眼旁观着登山者的一切,几千万年了,他们都是这样端坐着。看懂的人,能感受到他们那晚的慈祥。攻顶成功,下撤到海拔C5营地,晚上一轮明月又大又亮,与太阳余晖共存于长空。看到站在营地崖际间的老罗正在拍摄,面对此景,亲人和家乡的样子也越来越清晰,像流水不息~那天午夜,我目睹了一次太阳落下和太阳升起的过程,我经历了一次阳光将无数星星撒落在雪坡上的震撼。但这里的天空越美,就越让我想着纯朴的家乡——马鞍山~([]

“百感交集!”这是出发前,大家做出发感言时我说的话,没想到,五天的穿越,我才真正体会她的含意! 我来过,我走过,我体会过;我爱过,我恨过,可是我知道,在这条路上已经无法回头了。 雪山沟位于天山西部伊连哈比尔尕峰南麓,东距独库公路乔尔玛120公里,西距尼勒克80公里,北与乌苏古尔图镇接壤。两者之间有一条神秘的马道鲜为人知,在过去的岁月里它是南北双方马贼经常出没的地方,随着马贼被不断的打击,这条马道渐渐被人们忘记....... 这条线路是伊犁行者户外于2012年7月探明走穿,因其穿越难度仅次于狼塔C线,故而命名为:小狼C。 从知道这条活动的路线到我参加中间差不多有两个月的时间,其实我不曾犹豫,我只是没有准备好。从五月份第一次知道户外,到走这样的长线我只有三个月的时间,没有走过一条一天或是两天的短线,我为自己的这个决定一直不安。不是不相信自己,是我不知道出去后到底会有多少的不可预知。感谢五味瓶,是他一直鼓励我,耐心,细致的解答我的各种问。 活动是8月9号——13号,这个日子对我来说,真的不是好事。一直在咨询有经验的驴,我要不要采取措施让我的经期推后,各种说法的结果是对身体不好,我做着顺其自然的准备。7号,我出发去伊宁市,一路的不顺,眼镜丢了,早餐没了,车在半路抛锚了。。。我告诉自己:好事多磨。8号凌晨5点,我到达伊宁市,安顿好住宿地天已经麻亮了。这几天一直感觉经期要来,这个让我纠结,一早出门去了药店,毫不犹豫的买了短期避孕药,在药店就吃下了,希望可以将经期推后。这一天,热情的米菲一直陪着我,准备着临行前的小东西。去拿了给每个人分配的食物,5公斤。 其实我一直很混乱,已经有两天的时间了,我不知道如何写下这五天的经历,不知道如何下手。就是连最简单的记录,我都做不到。。。活动领队:孤魂 雪杉 五味瓶参加队员:尘烟(父子) 塞外の西风 黑骏马 米菲 七彩 过客(母女) 张单 谢 星星 咖啡不加糖(夫妻) 柠檬树孤魂。被伊犁的驴友们亲切的称为:驴爹。伊犁户外的领队之王,非他莫属。55岁的他,全队负重最重。遇有险境总是一“驴”当先雪杉。一直走在最前面探路,大家的方向。本人一直觉得他很文艺,戏喊他文艺青年。歌唱得很好。伊犁当之无愧的领队之首。摄影大师。五味瓶。大众情人。耐心,细致,周到,伊犁户外的后起之秀。 尘烟父子。尘烟是我们这次的摄影,我的图片很多来自于他的作品。儿子苏涛,90后小伙子,很坚强。父子俩曾骑行独山子--库车217线。塞外の西风。话不多,但很细心。与我一起在队前走了三天。强驴一个,头一天晚上精疲力竭,第二天早晨依然可以走在队前。黑骏马。强驴一个,话也不多,但会为大家默默做事。他、我和塞外の西风,相互鼓励在队前一同走过三天。米菲。很有女人味,性格很开朗。过河时总是会喊:“唉哟!妈呀!”七彩。很细心,很会照顾人。每天晚上扎营后,总是默默的协助驴爹为大家准备晚餐。过客母女。队中年纪最小的女孩子静静,只有十四岁。可谓小强驴。张单。很帅气的小伙子。咖啡不加糖夫妇。一对在路上结下的姻缘夫妻。相互的爱好,相互扶持,一起走过。柠檬树。只为曾经走过,路过,经历过,我独自一人与伊犁的驴友们一起感悟了五天。一生都不会忘记的五天。 谢。不知道应该算是新疆人还是湖南人。19岁前在伊犁,19岁后去了湖南,现在又回来。她自己说,在湖南她不是湖南人,在新疆她也不是新疆人。强驴一个,穿着一双不是走长线重装的鞋,走了五天长线重装。星星。真正的强驴娃子一个。看着探路的雪杉的脚后跟走了两天,跟着翻达坂的驴爹第一个翻过最后一个达坂的女孩子,在读高中生。大家都建议孤魂和雪杉收她做关门弟子。 第一天(8月9号) 早晨六点半,米菲打电话叫我起床。七点多一点,我们已经来到了集合地点。大家整装准备出发了。孤魂果断的让我卸下了帐篷,说女人坚决不背帐篷,我很感动,这是为了给女人减负。我们一行十七人坐着大巴车先是来到尼勒克,然后转乘一辆50年代生产的六驱嘎斯车朝山里进发了。在这里不得不特别交待一下这辆六驱嘎斯车,我们进山的头天晚上下雨,路上满是泥泞,这车牛X到遇沟过沟,遇坎过坎,遇泥泞深陷地过泥泞深陷地,遇坡爬坡,由于它的给力,我们少走了四公里的路。集合。整装待发。。。到达尼勒克转乘的牛X六驱嘎斯车装车,装人,装驴瞧这范。。。大哥大呀这路对这辆牛X的六驱嘎斯车来说如履平地骑马的牧民、跟随的牧狗,眼望着一车兴奋的驴,不明就里到达二牧场目的地,全体合影,我们的五天将从这里真正开始简单的午餐居然有卤鸡吃,那是相当的给力呀大家收拾装备,上包,出发。。。行走的第一站,过河,还好有横木,走过这段独木桥就回不了头了。在这里,我要特别感谢孤魂大哥,因为我有恐高症,假装很镇静的我,无比惶恐,是驴爹牵着我的手,走过了这第一站,让后面的我坚定无比的战胜着自己。沿着这样的马道,我们走向大山深处渐入密林稍作休息。后面的人马还未到,开路的雪杉又上路了第一天,这样的上坡大家走得还算轻松第一次过河失败,水大,水急,孤魂怕女人过不去,放弃了这个过河点,继续寻找过河点上天庇佑。在第一次放弃的过河点上游不远处居然有一横在河面上的松木,孤魂和雪杉选择在这里过河,免去了大家的冰冻之苦。孤魂依然一“驴”当先。过河后大家稍作休整沿着河道大家穿行在密林中山中的野果山花烂漫,无人欣赏她也开得如是娇艳野果扎营。准备晚餐。驴爹是大厨,五天里都是他为我们准备丰富的晚餐。户外的男人们都很细心、周详,一扎好营,男人们就会先烧上开水,让我们这些女人们喝上暖暖身子,也会在瓶子里灌上热水让我们放在睡袋里暖脚驱寒。在这样无人的松林深处,我们这些女人们体会着、享受着男人们的百般呵护。驴爹出发前给大家炒了一大锅的肉哨子。我们五天的营养美味。瞧!咱的作料还全活着呢吧茄子炒肉专为素食者炒的葫芦 在路上采的蘑菇,直接蘑菇炒肉了各种吃,那是相当的香呀餐后小酌两杯,既驱寒又暖身。在这里五味瓶深情一唱,歌声在这寂静的山林里份外的悠扬 第一天路程不是很远,孤魂和雪杉说第一天让大家热热身,不能走太多的路,不能让大家拉伤。很细心的领队。驴爹给每个帐篷发了一瓶红花油,睡前再三交待我们把关节各处都擦擦,搓搓,既可解乏,又可驱寒,说这山里湿气重。说实话,第一天,我的两个肩膀和两边的胯就隐隐地疼,按照驴爹的说法擦了红花油。钻进帐篷,寂静的山林里不远处河水冲撞岩石的声音一直在耳畔,一直的失眠依然困扰着我,一夜无眠。。。(待续) 第一天,行程八公里,海拔上升336米。我们五天重装徒步的起始点塞口阔拉沟口海拔1980米,晚上8点扎营点海拔2316米。第一天的行程写完,我就写不下去了,因为不是自己想要的,不满意。语言不满意,图片也不满意,相机在我包里几乎背了五天没有拿出来过,原因只有自己知道。。。每天都真的好累,根本没有一点点想要照相的冲动,笨重的相机挂在脖子上实在是个累赘。。。唉! 第二天(8月10号) 几乎是苦等到天明,七点半,驴爹的一嗓子:起床了!拉开了这一天的一幕。钻出帐篷,外面很冷,天已大亮,高大的松林中,点缀着我们那几顶绚烂的帐篷,氤氲的空气和天光。潮湿的空气吸入肺中,冰冷、畅快。山花仍旧烂漫,今天是一个好天气,上天垂爱着我们这一群痴狂的驴。这个早晨我还能做到洗个脸,刷个牙,还细心的梳了一下我的小辫,在以后的几天里,这一切都免了,离冰川越来越近,河水越来越刺骨,我连碰一下的勇气都没有。 早餐既简单又丰盛。奶茶、豆浆、馕、肉。由于没有睡好,我毫无胃口,塞一嘴巴的食物,就是咽不下去,米菲、五味瓶一直在劝我多吃点,不然没有体力。真心谢谢他们。八点半拔营出发。这一天,我们又过了一次独木桥,过了三道河。而我,很幸运的过了两道河,还都是五味瓶把我背过去的,这两道河是我们过的水流最急、最深的河,每每想到此,心中的感激之情真的不能言表,没有经历过的人真的体会不了,在河水中多走一趟是多么的痛苦,对自身的伤害又是多么的大,站在刺骨的河水中,感觉到的是钻心的刺痛。而这些男人们要来回走好几趟,背人,背包。 而我之所以能少过一趟河,那是我第一次体会到,人原来可以离死亡那么近,那么近,只需要脚下一滑。。。当大部人还没过完河时,我和黑马跟着雪杉已经又上路了,沿着河道继续走,雪杉一直想给我们再找一处地方,试图不下水就可以到河的对岸。我没有想到就是这样的一跟,让我第一次知道“户外有风险”这句话的真正意义。当我们沿着河道走时,一直没有找到合适的过河点,而前面又无路可走了,唯一可以做的就是爬上左侧很陡的山坡,浅露的草皮,打滑的沙砾,感觉垂直八十度的坡度,我几乎是全身趴在山坡上爬行,就这样,身后很重的包依然有随时都会把我拉下山坡的感觉,手没有可以扶,可以抓的地方,脚没有可以踩,可以扒牢的地方,看着雪杉和黑马过去的地方,我却没有可以下脚的去处,在那一刻,惶恐油然而生,一身的冷汗,看着向山下滚落的小石块,我感觉那就是我自己,只要一个不小心,只要脚下一滑,可能连一声惊叫都来不及发出。。。当我终于爬上山坡,对着黑马说的第一句话就是:我***要是再爬一次这样的山,我就不是人。黑马无语的笑我,看得出来,他也爬得很惊心。而这句话,在第三天里,得到了很好的验证:我只是一头驴,一头强悍、倔强的驴。。。 所幸的是孤魂领着剩下的大部人马,没有跟着我们爬那个山坡,他们选择了在山坡下过河,这是英明的孤魂做的最英明的决定。第二天过独木桥,大家已经没有惊心动魄了,都过得很从容。孤魂给每个过桥的驴们交待着要领。男驴们都拿着两个包过桥,女人大多都是不负重过去的。我也已经可以过得很从容了,过之前孤魂跟我说,手千万不要放开绳子,不论遇到什么情况都不要松开抓着绳子的手。那一刻,我知道,原来大家挑战的都是自己,自己才是自己的敌人。而我跟自己过招,胜了一个回合。五味瓶最后把我的包背过了河。感谢伊犁的男人们。继续上路,松林渐远了终于有了稍微平坦点的路,开始有了裸露的岩石,说明我们的海拔在一步步升高护山金牛?看谁敢从此过。。。走这段的时候,一直有一头牛跟着我走了很长一段路,吓得我要命,一直怀疑是不是我穿的衣服的原故,所以这段路,我脚下可是生风一般呀,感谢牛大哥了这马。。。这牛。。。绝了过河。这是过的第一道河,河宽,水流急,河水深。难度高。感谢五味瓶,将我背过了河。趴在他背上我都可以感觉到水流得很急,他脚下走不稳。咖啡背着两个包过河,河水太急,他脚下站不稳,在这里摔到了河里,还好人没事,只是冲走了他的一双鞋。可见这看似平缓的河面,其实水流很急的过完河,休息,简单的午餐。继续上路,今天的任务还没有完成。一步步朝冰达坂进发裸露的岩石更多了在这样的巨石间,我们走了很长时间。会当凌绝顶沼泽里湿湿苔藓上开的小花。生命有时真的很惊人,你看开的多惊艳不知名的花开在这湿漉漉的湿地里,也不忘展现自己的美草地大片退却,空气中的冷气提醒着我们,离冰川越来越近了这泉水,入口甘甜我无语了。。。小花踩上去软软的,下面都是水这红配绿咋就这么美呢顽强的生命在哪里都能开出醉人花来,顽强的生命在哪里都可以展示自己的美丽。在我爬坡的时候,大队人马正在过的第三道河看来河水依然很急,大队人马过河时,我们已经在另外一个山头了。胆战心惊后,小憩一会,给自己压压惊。 过河扎营。 第二天的晚餐是面条、三菜。五味瓶知道我不太吃肉,专门炒了素莲花白早早给我盛了出来。当我把黑马下的挂面拌在碗里,我依然毫无味口,一碗饭从头吃到尾。说实话,由于海拔太高,面根本就煮不熟,然然的,黑马看出了我吃不下去,一个劲的跟我说,必须吃完,必须吃完,不许剩饭。驴爹也看出我吃不下去,叫我过去把蒜苔炒肉的热汤给我盛了些,米菲、五味瓶都在劝我多吃些。现在想起,我依然满含感激的泪水。大家如亲人般的关心,呵护着我。在这里我真心谢谢一起走过的伊犁的驴友们,是你们让我体会到户外真的亲如一家。谢谢你们!!白天跟五味瓶说起我睡不着,让他晚上把手表给我,我只想知道夜的时间走的有多慢,睡前五味瓶专门把他的表给我,虽然由于没电,那表我啥时候看都是一点半,但这一点也不影响我对伊犁驴友的感激。(待续) 第二天:行程14公里,海拔上升930米。(扎营地海拔3048米) 第三天(8月11号) 第三天,依然是七点半,驴爹的一嗓子:起床了!拉开了这一天的序幕。早晨的山中,依然是个好天气。没有城市的喧嚣,没有城市的狼烟。吸入肺中的是大自然再清新不过的氧气了。简单的早餐后,大家整装出发。对于这一天,我的思绪、我的记忆一直很混乱,记得最清晰的就是翻冰达坂(3670米),在我感觉中是又一次体验了生与死的距离。这一天过了四趟河,冰川下的河水,依然钻心刺骨的疼。这一天我冻得几乎失温,夜晚睡在四周都是水的河床上,一晚上都是冰冷,感觉身子底下都是水,一晚上我都将手垫在腰下。漫山遍野的小花生命在这里释诠真正的高山雪菊 天地的尤物漫山遍野的雪菊高山野罂粟点点滴滴的小花点缀着这高山之巅冰川就在眼前了绿草、岩石、碎石破、千年的冰川娇艳向冰川一步步靠近跨过这冰川河流、走过这草地([]

There are many like-minded asking me about it. I now present this thread to briefly tell everybody about my journey.The starting point of this traverse was from the highest peak of the western part of the Tibetan plateau, Jieshan Daban, and the day was April 20, 2010.I was heading eastward passing Bungdag Co, Yanghu Co, Rola Co, and Kangzhagri Mountain, which crossed over the desolate region from west to east. The journey continued northward to enter the unpopulated area of Altun Mountains, through Hoh Xil Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Whale lake, ..., finally met some people by the Aqqikkol Hu and then arrived in Huatugou by vehicle three days later and that day was July 5. It had been 77 days in total. I had been all alone 74 days after leaving Jieshan Daban until arriving inAqqikkol Hu, which was about 1400km and about four months.[The Great Chang Tang] In Tibetan, "Chang Tang" means northern empty wilderness while narrowly, means unpopulated region in northern part of Tibet. However, it actually indiCATes all of the no man's land in northern. The great Chang Tang includes desolate places in Northern Tibet, Hoh Xil, Alun Mountains, and Kunlun Mountains, which are interconnected to form the unique and super empty wilderness in the world. Only because Hoh Xil is the most known name, most people just think this vast land is equivalent to Hoh Xil. In reality, Hoh Xil is only a small piece of the Great Chang Tang both administratively and geologically. The Great Chang Tang, the last land to chase your freedom and dream.The route that I traversed ForeplayI arrived in Tibet in the early March, a couple of troubles bothered me. The brand new plug got its positive and negative wrongly connected; the rivets of my rucksack eASIly got broken from now and again; and a multi-functional charger got damaged and so on. Riding my bike to Ngari for warming up of this journey, lost my rucksack but later got it back; lost my camera bag and got it back later again, and finally lost a big bicycle pannier in the street of Gyangze town under the eyes of police, including clothes, solar panel and so on.Without much choice, I returned to Lhasa to adjust all the stuff I would need in the wilderness. Then I begged some luck by going to Nyingchi to enjoy the blossoms of peach trees and to take a hot spring bath. I even had the privilege to enjoy time with ten girls in the hot spring. I felt my bad luck had all gone and then returned to Lhasa again to prepare going to Ngari. I did not expect that I was cheated on by some hustler and lost some money and delayed my schedule for a week. I had to find a car myself quickly to Nagri. However, I lost the tool for fast-parting my rear wheel on my way to Nagri, where was a remote area in Tibet and nowhere to buy the tool. Even if there was one in Lhasa it would take at least ten days for a special delivery service. I was lucky that my mate Duola asked a driver to bring the tool for me from Lhasa. I thought there should be no more nightmare like this but the nozzle of my brand new multi-fuel stove was broken. The next day I tried everywhere to weld them back together. The first three shops could not do the welding for copper. The fourth one said they could do it but could not guarantee a sUCCess. The engineer said it would be ten Chinese yuans if it was a success. I agreed. Just in seconds, my nozzle became crap in a flash of lightening. I was so upset. Again, Duola helped me by bringing her own MSR oil stove and Dingding's sleeping bag to Nagri. That was already April 16 and I did not have much time to waste. The following day I found a vehicle heading to Jieshan Daban.The sand storm over Yarlung Zangbo RiverA lonely peach tree blossoming in Yarlung Zangbo Grand CanyonNatural hot spring in wild, me singing and drinking (photo by a friend of mine) Day 1(April 20), 16km, Camping 5192mIt was a truck with a full load of iron wastes, arriving in Jieshan Daban at 6'o clock in the morning. It was still night and extremely cold and dark. Driver was not bothered to pop his head out of the driving cab. I climbed up on the top of the iron wastes, taking my bicycle down. In a hurry, I punched my old water bag. Fortunately I had another MSR water bag given by a friend of mine otherwise I would definitely fail without even starting my journey. For the first time for me to set up the brand new tent in strong, cold winds. It would be impossible to do so if the tent was not a whole piece. Extremely cold outside, about -15C, might be lower than that, I put my head into the sleeping bag but was nearly suffocated to death, honestly. The smell of Dingding's sleeping bag was, lol, so extraordinary. I woke up around 11 o'clock. There were still strong winds outside so that I had to use my bodyweight to keep the tent in place. At the time when I just started to cook and eat, four patrolling soldiers approached me. To their surprise someone, in this season, camped in Jieshan Daban. I was so nervous and afraid they were the people to block my journey because I was caught and deported from the desolate land last year. Luckily the four soldiers did not know my destination and were very kind to me. After they left, I immediately packed my stuff and pushed my bike into the depths of the unpopulated area just in case anything unexpected happened.The bike was very heavy due to the provisions and hard to control. There was even a quite small hill that I had to remove my bike panniers to get over it. This really struck me because this happened even the path was still the hardship one at the moment and I could not imagine what I would do once I entered the uncertain, endless wilderness. Until now I had not met anyone, even the nomadic pastoralists. I remembered there were quite a few of them roaming at the edge of the northern Tibetan plateau last year. All of these indicated it was not the good pasture season in such low temperature and strong winds. Around 16km there was a sheep cote, where I passed it last year, east of Lungmu Co. I was exhausted at this point so that I decided to camp in here and to rest my head. After arranging tent everything I went out to look for the wetland discovered by Duola and Liumeng last year. I was determined to find it.There were many hot springs in the wetland which were underground water with a constant temperature. The wetland therefore became an ideal habitat for some fishes and weeds under such harsh weather, which was the very unique land feature of terrain in this over 5200m highland.Perpetual snow in the valley blown to corn shape by strong windsThis wetland was discovered by Duola and Liumeng. The next day rather than continuing to travel, I stayed inside the sheep cote, hesitating and pondering over. Indeed, there were so many problems before this journey;I did not have sufficient physical preparation;the load had already reached its limitation; I still coughed a lot;the weather was so extreme and cold. All in all, I did not think this journey was well prepared and I did not have confidence in completing this journey mentally and physically. To do, or not to do, it was the question. Similarly I did not have confidence in my facilities, not knowing whether all of them would work functionally or not. The fact was one of the rivets got broken again and the front rack came loose. In the afternoon, I replaced all the rivets of the panniers with screws I had prepared before. This was an excellent job I had done which gave me no further troubles throughout my whole journey. I also re-adjusted the front rack. However I did not think it would definitely all right because I did not have a tool to do it. When the darkness descended,I made up my mind to continue my journey, which, of course, was not beyond any imagination. You could hear the gigantic sound of wind if the picture had a sound Day 3 (April 22), 52.4km, Camping 5145mGot up in the morning, could not put everything into the bags. Without much choice I had to throw away three portions of tsampa, elbow pads, and crampons. Following the road of the lead-zinicmine I found the side path to enter the wilderness, which was on the riverbed and very hard to see. I missed this side path last year so that I had to take a short cut into the wilderness directly then. That was why I had taken extra care to find the side path. The following journey was to get over a big hill, which lay 5275m above sea level and was the highest point of my whole journey. Around 2 o'clock in the afternoon, I passed the side path leading to Orba Co and started a journey which was complete strange to me. I ate a piece of pilot breads, which was frozen like rocks so that I had to use my spade to crush it. At 6 o'clock in the evening, I had pushed plus rode my bicycle for about 32 km. I reckoned I should have been able to double this if I did no carry such heavy load. The wind became stronger and stronger. I opened the parasail kits and tested it. The result was far beyond what I expected. With the aid of the strong wind I was just like flying over the wilderness. After 8 o'clock in the evening, I started to observe the water Source and to get ready to camp. Map showed there were successive springs along the path and assembled to puddles. But I had overestimated the water source here in this land and in this season there were endless wilderness inside the valley, where I could not see a single drop of water. As it became darker and darker, I felt a little bit nervous which resulted in three spokes of the parasail broken and became a useless rubbish. Anyway, it helped me to move forward 20km more which benefited me a lot later on. When time approached 9.30 pm, it was almost completely dark. I had to lie my bike on the ground and went on to try to find water on the north side of the valley. This was a wide and flat sandy land, where I could not see any ditches there and further was complete darkness. I returned to get my GPS to look up the contours and found the south part of the valley was closer to a hill so I took the way. Finally I found a piece of ice in a ditch. I smashed about 20litre of ice. The ice was quite shallow scattered with sheep poo. On my way back, my eyes were hurt by strong winds, which got me a couple of days to recover. It was nearly 23 o'clock after I set up the tent. It also took about 40 mins to melt the ice. I was so tired and my appetite was completely spoiled. I then had a little bit of milk. I had never expected thing would go like this, it was so distressing. Streams along the path, ice everywhereThe river flew into Matou Hu, in whose north part there was a satellite lake, a wonderful ice-skating court It took 40mins to melt the ice in midnight Day 4 (April 23), 31km, Camping 5028mA cloudy day with gusts. From now and again, hails chased me from behind. Sunny spell. Heavy sandy land made me have to push my bike. At 3pm, I arrived at Luxing Hu, where there was a house made of clay. This was the last permanent building of my journey. Last year, Duola and Liumeng once lived in this house for three days without meeting anybody. It seemed it was the same but the truck parking in front of the house made me worry about. I went to the sheep cote first to check over, where there were only a few lambs following me everywhere I went later on. This made me feel warm in my heart. I observed farther places using my binoculars but could not see any people or sheeps. After making sure there were no people around I opened the locked door using a screwdriver. The living room was very clean. There were two boxes of beverages on the ground and a string of cured lamb legs hanging over in the interior room. A pot of water was on the top of the stove, lukewarm, which indicated the host must be not far away from his home. I filled up my water bag and left the house. I also put the screws back to the door in order not to leave any trace of my visiting. I then took a spanner from the toolbox of the truck, which gave me great help for the rest of the journey.I left the house as quickly as possible. After last year's experience, the nomadic pastoralists were the last people I wanted to meet. A few hundred meters away from the house, the vehicle traces were fading fast. Even downhill, I had to push rather than to ride because of the heavy loose sand. From the route point of view, only after Luxing Hu it was the real unpopulated land. After many days, I thought of the lamb legs from time to time. It was pity that I then had plenty of provisions and the bike was too heavy to carry anything more. Probably this road was the high plain or somewhere the wind passed so that it was so windy. The average wind speed was degree 6 but could reach degree 9 in the blick of an eye. The road was still full of sand and very heavy to walk on it. My eyes became worse under such harsh weather. About three o'clock in the afternoon, I saw something in my right, looked like antenna. I went closer to see what it was and found out it was an iron tower (the triangulation station). In 1970s, a joint team from Chinese three military regiments entered this area doing research. They have left a lot of triangulation stations and benchmarks, which I had the priviledge to see them today.At dusk, I approached to a spring by the Bungdag Co, which flew into the frozon lake. The sand and soil, brought by the strong wind, scattered on the surface of the ice all over the lake. There were so many cracks around the icey surface of the lake. I geussed it must be caused by the springs under the water rather than by melted ice. In the west of the Bungdag Co was the side path leading to Keriya Pass, where a SUV could reach directly. I had looked out any vehicle Tracks but failed. The cloudy sky started to snow. I set up the tent comfortably because I knew that I was safe having such a sweet spring beside me.Triangulation station erected by scientists from the joint research team on Chang Tang of three military regiments in 1971[size=+0]The gap between water and ice in Bungdag Co, I guessed there must be some springs under the lakeThe storm just above the ground, a chaotic darkness[size=+0]Icy Bungdag Co,one of the four biggest lakes in Northern Tibet, wild ducks flying over this vastness and lonenessSnowing at any time, should not happen so frequently like this in this seasonDay 6 (April 25), 4.3km, Camping 5002mWeathering landforms everywhere around this area. Spongy volcanic rocks could be found easily. I pushed my bike turning around a small hill, seeing a big river, the Yinshui He, flowing from Orba Co into Bungdag Co, which I had been to its upstream last year. It was also a passage for animal migration. The downstream of the river was extremely wide and broad. The thickess of the ice layer could reach one meter with the main stem in the middle course of the river, very deep. There were a few springs along the river, sweet and clear.I only went forward a little bit more than 4km but I had walked more than 20km for finding my way. It was not possible to cross the main stem, let alone the north bank of Bungdad Co. What I could only do was to try to find a shallow place to cross. But the southern area was a even larger piece of wetland and forced the road turn towards west. I spent a couple of hours but failed to find a good point to cross the river. In the afternoon, I decided to follow the edge of the wetland. When I reached the hill foot, the wetland finally disappeared. Around this area, there were clearly volcanic feature of terrain and I even found traces of pasturing and cairns made from volcanic rock.Here was the last pasturing trace I found throughout my journey, I guessed it was a summer pasture area. After this, there was no clear sign of human activities in this vast wilderness. I had been looking for my ways until it was dark. I made up my mind where to go TOMOrrow. The terrain here looked like Yardang landforms, as well as volcanic landforms The Yinshui He river from Orba CoSprings scattered all over the river bank, painted green by lovely algaeThe river was very deep. The mixture of green and amber colour showed the sand and mud carried by the melted iceThick layer of ice, sunken surface caused by strong gustsThe south course of the Yinshui He, countless small streams. To the right was the wetlandLooking for ways in the east, a trace of pasturing and the cairn made from spongy volcanic rocksMy camp, opposite to the hillDay 7 (April 26), 11km, Camping 5009mI moved forward to the direction I found yesterday, turning around the wetland and walking toward east. At 2pm, I was blocked by the zigzag Yinshui He again and I had no choice but to cross it. The river was about 700m wide, covered by ice which appeared very different. The hanging ice, the folding ice, the piling-up ice, the icy puddle, and the sleet were everywhere along the river bank. Having noticed all of these, I reckoned the river would be receding at dusk, which was why there were so many different shapes and forms of ice. I put my slipper on, going into the main stream of the river. I found there were at least three different courses of the river, the thickness of the surface ice varied and the river water reached above my knees. I sighed there would be no way back once I crossed this river. There are many ways in one's life too, you can only take it once and you will no long have the courage to repeat it.I pushed the bike crossing the river. Some of the ice was a bit soft, jamming the tyres so that I had to use my feet to break them first. Some of the ice was a bit thick but with half-melted underneath, sticking the the bike completely, some of the ice was half-water half-ice with a sandy riverbed, which was really hard to pass. I had to remove all of the panniers at the last stage of the crossing. I spent the whole four hours to cross the river, my legs got many bloody cuts. At 6pm, the surface ice was almost disappeared completely, the river level rapidly rising to a chaotic status. I thought if I hesitated a little bit at that time, I could not have the courage to cross this river under such circumstances. The river bank was unimaginably sandy and was quite steep. I had to unloaded the panniers again to reach the top of the bank. By the time of sunset, the weather became exceptionally good. The sunlight from the descending sun, the blue sky, the faint moon, .... I liked such a colorful and peaceful Chang Tang and very much enjoyed my camp and myself bathed in such beautiful colour.The ice like this was very thin and suspended, far away from the main stemHard surface with half-melted underneath, the soft sand at the botton was most scaryThe ice like this could easily jam the wheels, hard to get it outI had to unload the panniersChaotic water and terrible hails turned up in no timeThe Chang Tang at the moment liked it used to be,a mixture of cold and warm tones under the golden setting sun Day 8 (April 27), 14.6km, Camping 5112mLast night, I forgot to bring in the odometer, which was out of order due to the coldness in midnight. Since then I used GPS to check the mileage. The digital thermometer was no longer working. I had to use mercury thermometer to collect data. Night temperatures were basically between –15℃—–20℃ while the temperature inside my tent was about –10℃. The advantage of the integrated tent was that it limited the ventilation so to keep warm inside. However, it got clearly disadvantage of heavy condensation and dew. Every morning, there was plenty of frost inside the tent so that I had to put my hood on First Before fully getting dressed. The winds in Chang Tang finally became consistent with the pattern I had researched the other day no or very tiny wind in the morning, strong wind started after 2pm, and then at around 8pm its strength was reduced again. The accuracy of this prediction was about 80%.The road was very bad today. I walked whole afternoon in an ancient riverbed and it was so difficult that I had to use all of my strengths to move a small step forward and then to stop to breath, slower than a snail. After five hours' struggling, my eyes got wet when I saw the grassy river bank. Finally! The nightmare was over.Cold and clear morningHeavy morning condensation in the interior, a lot of frost to clearSuch dawning sunlight indicated a cloudy day ahead Day 9 (April 28), 18km, 5072mIn the morning I entered a range of sandy roads which were so terrible. The solar panel specially designed for GPS got short circuited. After checking it was found to be the diode got damaged. Luckily I got a replacement. Because the GPS was exclusively supplied by a solar panel so that it was no longer a problem for the power supplement of GPS. In a period of 70 days, I did replace the battery once, which saved me a lot of alkaline batteries. I did have another solar panel of 5.4 W which was used specifically for 7.5V Camera, DV and other digital facilities. Unlike water, I had never been short of power.At 7pm in the evening, I arrived at Pur Co. The surface of this lake was very odd the ice by the river bank rose and the river bank was broken, I reckoned that was due to the strong winds. The ice there was mingled with something yellow, could be the stain of alkali. There were many wild yaks on the other side of the lake. There could be two brown bears but I could not be for certain. On the east side of the lake, there was a peninsula leading to the centre of the lake. I camped just opposite to the peninsula. At night , I smashed the ice to get drinking water, which tasted alkali. For the first time I cooked the cereals, which was brought completely by accident. This was just because I found there was a little bit of extra space when I was in Nagri packing the stuff for this journey so that I bought two packs of cereals. It tasted disgusting, probably there was too much alkali in the water. I threw away half of it. Later I realised that probably I subconsciously felt that the provisions was so heavy. The wild yaks clustered into small groups. All of a sudden, there was a group of five of them running towards me, blowing a huge cloud of dust with the power of thunderbolts,I believed that anyone who did not know the characters of the wild yaks must be frightened to death under such circumstances. The fact was the wild yaks in groups never injured people. Rushing to you just to show you its territory. When they approached people at certain distance, they would turn sharply and run away, and then stopped somewhere high to stare at you. You can not imagine that the wild yaks were very cautious animals compared with its almost one ton of weight. Their first reaction, when meeting people, was to raise their tails, the front hooves rubbing against the ground, the horns pointing forward, the eyes redden, and the long body hair shaking, all of which showed their determination to fight.This was the warning sign that you should retreat. However, you should realise that this was only a gesture that they were afraid of you and wanted to scare you away. The thing was that if you were not afraid of them and moved forward, they would run away in no time. There were only some mad yaks attacking people, which was really rare to happen. In Chang Tang, an experienced driver know that it is very dangerous to pass directly from two or three lonely wild yaks. They always tried to avoid confronting them directly. If this was not possible, they would lit a cigarette, smoking, to wait until the yaks walked away themselves. This was because the wild yaks really could attack vehicles, which was not completely rumors. I once asked them why I had not been attacked. They told me that because my bike was so small they would not be bothered to attack it. My own experience was that approaching a wild yak very slowly, do not look into its eyes, and ignored what it was doing. As long as it moved forward a little bit, just stop and give the yaks a little bit of time to think. Because if you forced the yak, it could be themost dangerous animal in the world and nothing could stop them killing. Even a gunshot could not kill it but only left a small hole in its skin. In the past, the nomads living near this land would use yaks' skin as chopping board which was very much endurable. At noon, I lost my balacLAVA, which was brand new and I had never used it once. I could not be bothered to go back tofind it. This resulted in that I had to have my fleece hat day and night in the rest of my journey, which did not provide fully protection from the sun in the plateau. But somehow I was all right, perhaps because my skin is similar to those of yaks, lol. At around half past one, I found a deserted Jeep, upside down. I felt it could be there for years and it could be the vehicle of someillegal HUNTERs. Nowadays, we have wildlife conservation reserves in Chang Tang and the animals here are well protected. However, some people kills the wild yaks to sell them as the domestic yak's meat. In general, it is worth 10,000 Chinese yuans for a single wild yak. Therefore many people take the risk to make money. They often enter the unpopulated areas to hunt and their activities can reach 200 km in diameter. This is why the wild yaks in the deep wilderness are less afraid of people than thoseat the boundaries of the Chang Tang region.There once happened that a wild yak mother revenged its baby's murder in the Altun mountains. Its horns pierced the killer's chest and held his body over its head for more than ten days, which was very touching.Around 3pm, I walked out of the Pur basin. The next point was Hong Shan Daban and then it was the Yueya Hu by the Toze Gangri. At this time I found a vehicle track from south to north. I checked over but could not find the way where they had gone. I took my map, GPS, and compass, climbing up a small hill to estimate the location of Hong Shan Daban. The mountain was very round and it was hard to find the mountain pass. After determining the location of the Daban, I moved straightforward. When I passed a messy grassland, I saw something that I was reluctant to see more than hundreds of wild yaks' head scattered all over, which was definitely the scene of the illegal hunting. After that it was a very long ancient river bed with soft sand slowly rising until the foot of the mountain.There are some spines on the surface of the tongues of wild yaks, which are used by nomads in this area as combs. They use them from their teens to the time when their hair becomes silver.The deserted Jeep, could be left by illegal hunters years agoThe slaughtered wild yaks with the wheel size heads. Some of the skulls were chopped into half. Why was that? Could be taken away for making combs?My camp at the foot of the Daban underthe lingering golden rays of the setting sun. Tomorrow's weather must be wonderful, I reckoned Day 11(April 30), 20.4km, Camping 5120mThe surface of the road leading to Hong Shan Daban was very hard, most of them were small rocks, sort of gravels, plus a quite long downhill slope, I pushed my bike more than 20km for the first time after Luxing Hu. The mountain pass was quite flat, just like a broad ridge, it was 5256m above the sea level. Upon arriving at the pass, Toze Gangri of 6356m was in my sight clearly, very much round and there was no back bone like normal snow covered mountains. Most of the snow mountains in Chang Tang looked like this probably it was due to the geological movements. There were quite a few chirus or Tibetan antelopes in the valley but I was not interested in this kind of animals anymore after I witnessed a large scale of migration of such animals last year elsewhere.The herbivorous animals here are very quick to reach its original size of the population, such as wild yaks, chirus, Tibetan gazelle, pika, and marmot. When you go into the depths of the Chang Tang, you could hardly be surpised by the sudden appearance of the chirus because they are so common in here. At this time of year, the chirus have already male-female parted. You could see many pregnant female chirus but hardly see any males. According to recent research, Zonag Co is not the only lake for breeding. There are at least four of them in the whole Chang Tang. Zonag Co, Tuzi Hu, Heishi Beihu, and another lake I can not remember. I think there must be more than four of them and most of the populations do not migrant long way like most people used to think. They generally migrant from south to north between Central Mountains and Kunlun Mountains.The chirus looks very timid but are very curious about outside world. They are not really afraid of people, particularly in the depth of the Chang Tang. The nearest distance we can approach is about 30m. They just stare at you calmly and think who you are and why you move so slow. They would run in front of you. Look like they are afraid of you but the fact is they are playing with you. A man's own character shapes his fortune. This is of course suit for animals too. The chirus are the typical one. They have a super speed and a pair of sharp antlers. If they are crazy, three of them work together could easily kill a wolf. But as you might have known, their antlers are just for fighting to mate with females.Down the Daban there was a very steep and straight road, I tried to ride the bicycle but ended up with falling over. The front rack came loose and one of the pannier flew into valley. The foot of the mountain was the Yueya Hu covered by ice, which was alake full of heavy metal elements. Along the lake bank there were many stark rocks very much weathered, lining up just like castles or houses. This made me stop to investigate what they were from time to time, I did understand they were just rocks though but they were so real like the figures of real people. On of them even made me hide in a ditch, observing them again and again using my binoculars. There were also many black volcanic rocks. All in all, the features of this area were really unusual.Passed over the Yueya Hu, it was an endless ancient lake bed. What my GPS showed was this area was a big lake like tentacles. I looked around, it was endless wilderness without a piece of ice and a drop of water. Roughly, I estimated this lake bed was about 1200 square meters. I had to tell you that Chang Tang was a place where there was no high-resolution map. The marks in the map often were some kind of memory. Just like this ancient lake bed under my feet, may be it was full of water a few years ago. Who knows. Pushing the bike in such an endless lake bed was very easy to get lost. About wildlife (part 1)Declaration Personal experience for reference onlyDangerous wild animals and their threats to human beings are a ever-LASTING subject for those backpackers travelling in the wild.In Chang Tang, for example, there are two kinds of deadly animals, one is wolves and the other is brawn bears. As substitutes, wild yaks and crows might be dangerous to you in some circumstances that I will come back to this a little bit later on. As for how to protect yourself against these dangerous animals, I think the primary point is you do not try to hurt them because the emotions of human and animals are same instinctively. [Wolves]Throughout my journey, I met wolves a total of seven times, in which I confronted them five times. As you might have known that wolves have become more and more solitary animals, it is very rare they live in a large group nowadays. Please allow me off the point a little bit and talk about the ecological problems in Chang Tang. The problem is now not the decrease of the number of the chirus but the imbalance of the whole food chain, more specifically, the number of the animals on the higher trophic levels of the food chain has not yet reached its ideal level which results in this kind of imbalance. Particularly, the pikas and the marmots who have lost their predators rapidly expanse which results in the desertification of Chang Tang. As early as the middle of last century, wolves were the dominant predators in the vast wilderness. They became a threat not only to other preys but also nomads pasturing in this land. Therefore, the then government called on people to cull back the population of the wolves in Chang Tang, which resulted in the current situation directly. The last official record about wolves attacking humans was around 1970s, which happened in Bamaoqiongzong. A team of secientists was surrounded by a group of wolves and they had to shoot them using guns. Of course, at present in Chang Tang, wolves are absolutely lonely.In this traverse, the first time I encountered a pair of wolves, one of them staying in front of me pretending to attack me while the other staying behind me. This is the standard attacking strategy of wolves. First, you should not be nervous which can be easily detected by the predators. Second, you should not retreat even an inch because this means you are the prey rather than the predator. Do not make any large movement, of course you could take a picture if you feel safe to do so. You must look into its eyes for a few minutes or even half an hour. When the wolves can not work out who you are and consider you are not posing any danger to them, then they will leave. You should remember that wolves in this land do not lack of food and it is much easy for them to catch a pika than a human. Even if being hungry, they would evaluate how easy to get you done, What you need to do is to show them that you are not interested in them and you are not afraid of them at all, let alone to show your ID card to them. As for the wolves family, really, I have not heard for ages. If you really have an encounter with them and they have no other choice, then it definitely depends on your forture. In fact, for so many year, it has been very rare to happen that wolves kill human. But the rumours are still there, in particular, the road connecting Xinjiang and Tibet.The nearest encounter with a wolf throughout my journey, no conflict at all[Brown Bears]Brown bears are real dangerous animals to human. Every year there are some accidents happened in some regions of Xinjiang on the north side of Kunkun Mountains and steppes in Northern Tibet. More than that the bears could attack your house, smash your windows, and eat your sheep. Therefore, in Northern Tibet some local councils give subsidies to the pastorarists for compensating the losses due to the bears because they are not allow to fight back and kill the bears except their lives are in great danger. Once there was a nomad taught me a method to protect yourself from bears. He told me to pick up a stick to feed the bear and the bear thinks the stick is your hand which tastes disgusting. So the bear would leave. It was so funny but the reality is to find a stick in this vast wilderness is just like you win the lottery.Bears are omonivorous animal who are generally not interested in human flesh. You can find that in most of accidents, the bears did not eat any of the human flesh rather they just smashed them for kind of fun that we could not understand. For the reason why bears kill human, one explanation is the conflict between human and wildlife in this extreme ecological environment. The nomads invade the habitats of the bears, which results in these conflicts. On the other hand, it might be because bears have quite high IQ so that they think it is much easy to kill a sheep in the cote rather than to kill a pika in the wild.I have met bears five times in my traverse, in two cases we were very close to each other. I had even walked with one of them for quite a while, just like we had a date for a walk. The fact is it is not that terrible like you might imagine. The same rules for dealing with wolves apply to bears. Never provoke dangerous animals. A bear can run at a speed of 40km/h, do you think you can compete this in a highland 5,000m above sea level?However, there is a situation where it is really dangerous, that is the encounter. It is not easy to control your instinctive reaction to the external dangers. Last year once I turned around a hill, there was a bear just in front of me. The bear of course was frightened by me with its front legs holding up, waving in the air and roaring. At that time I sat on the ground, ignoring it. The bear then left in a few minutes. Chang Tang is a vast land so that this is not that easy to happen. But if it does happen, really only God can bless you.The nearest encounter with a bear throughout my journey. This bear disappeared in a herd of wild yaks, which I had tried hard to spot, really weird About wildlife (part 2)Declaration personal experience for reference only.[Wild Yaks]I have talked about quite a few, like in the post of Day10. I will no longer talk about it.This was the funniest encounter with a solitary wild yak, who did not warn me. If I sat down, it sat down too. If I moved forward, it stopped. Could not imagine what it was thinking about.[Crows]Crows are dangerous only when you fall unconscious in the wilderness. Of course they will be the first to taste your flesh in that case. Unlike their cousinsliving in urban areas, the crows in Chang Tang have a larger body like eagles. When they fly over your head, you could feel like it is a piece of cloud. They are scavengers but like fresh meat too. It once happened that a baby was killed by crows relentlessly, let alone the lambs got killed by them. Once a nomad asked me for fireworks to scare the crows away. (They are sacred birds not to be killed by human)It is easy to defend yourself against crows, that is to keep fighting, never fall in the wilderness.A short break attracted the crows. Of course, they were miscalculating this time, photo taken last year[Strategies Adopted]At the time when I met the four soldiers in Jieshan Daban, they said there were many dangerous animals in the Northern Tibet and asked me if I had brought a shotgun. I think if they knew that I would enter Chang Tang they would definitely check if I really have a shotgun. The so-called defence facilities I brought with me were the fireworks and pepper spray. I had never used them. The fireworks were ruined and thrown away when I crossed a river and I had never opened the pepper spray. I even had never thought about this when camping in the night. Therefore, your attitude is most important.I can tell you something. Dogs are more dangerous than these wild animals. I had been chased by Tibetan dogs, pounced on by dogs in mating season, also besieged by a group of dogs. These puddles were covered with a hard shell of the mixture of salt and ice which smelled stinking and decaying when getting closer, must be toxic water I supposed. On the shore of this type of small lakes it was muddy soil and very hard to get closer.There was no sign of tundra at all.It was almost half past six when I found some snow corns in a ditch, which was the only drinking water supply of the day. There was a thin layer of melted ice on the surface of the ground near the snow corn, which was very hard to collect and was contaminated by the alkali. The snow corn was the yet melted thick snow, which was shaped like a corn by wind. The snow was quite hard and dry,porous like ice. I crushed a few snow corns, putting them into the water bag.They would be my drinking water tonight. These snow corns were the only one in today's wilderness, I reckoned the reason why they were not melted like others was the soil underneath contained large amount of ice blocks which acted as a freezer.Very strong gale in the night, it was hard to bear the sound of the vibration of the tent. Small single tent was good in the sense that it would not be blown away as long as you stayed inside. But you had to be very careful to set up the tent. I once did not pay much attention when doing so, the tent was blown away by winds, and rolling over like a Giant lantern ... I ran after it, got it back, and was exhausted. In general, it is not possible to fix the tent completely using tent pegs because they were not very much effective like large tents. It was snowing around 23 o'clock, the winds were howling from north,then the falling snow flakes landed on my tent quietly, I finally felt at peace and fell asleep. After lying in for a while, getting up and walking on the snowy ground out I went to have a look around. As first sight there were a herd of chirus. They were plainly to be spotted because they looked like a clear black straight line in the while snow. I returned to get my camera and then followed them to take some pictures. But they were very much alert and kept a quite long distance from me. I felt they were a group of pregnant females, instinctively protecting themselves from any potential harm. I was no longer short of water, the snow gave me a precious supply of drinking water. The problem was that they were very petrol consuming. I tool 8.6 litre of petrol and the oil stove was Duola's MSR. The pot was of 1.5 litre, mainly for boiling water. After several days' experiments, I found that the liquid water needed 16mins and 14-15mins to boil in the morning and evening, respectively. For ice, it would take 35-40mins while for snow it took 45-50mins. Melting snow was a very time and petrol consuming process so if I had a choice between snow and light alkaline water, most of time I would go with the latter. Lying inside the tent, listening to musics,I smoked a cigarette while gazing at the more and more chirus around me. Because it was very cold I had been wearing my shoes all the time. Now I just put my bare feet under the warm sun for some fresh air. I found three cuts in my hands and one in my sole. The cuts were about 4cm in length, looked terrible but it was actually all right really. Half of my toes were injured by to much walking, quite painful. I fetched my medicine bag and found I only got four patches of plasters, a serious mistake. One of the cuts in my hand had never been cured until I was out of this desolate land so as to feel like this finger would drop from my hand at any time. The others quickly recovered in a few days then new cuts appeared elsewhere. This process occurred periodically. I felt that it was somewhat related to the cold, dry weather and the lack of vitamins. The snow rapidly disappeared, which is unique phenomenon in Chang Tang. Because of the low air humidity and the high radiation from the sun, the snow was evaporating very fast, much quicker than the melting speed. Owing to this, the ground was generally still dry after the snow disappeared. In most cases, it would be only 2/5 left in the afternoon around 2 to 3 o'clock and small patches of ground could be seen. It would be completely all right for walking the next day. On the third day there could be some snow left in somewhere the sunlight hard to reach. So generally it could give you three days of water supply after a heavy snow like this. One of the pannier was broken, the most expensive one from deuter series, supposed to be waterproof. I will come back to it at some point later.
